If it's a snack you are looking for you can't go wrong with cashew fudge.
You know, that's what Barney and Thelma Lou had between them while watching
"that doctor show on TV".

My choice for a Mayberry date? Well, I am attracted to smart, funny,
independent, classy--and beautiful--women. My choice would therefore be Elly
Walker.

Hey all,

Emmett only appeared in the color episodes...He was apparently added to the
cast when Howard McNear cut back his appearances as Floyd, for health reasons.

train station & a train.

Mayberry did have trains during the first season -- freight trains, at least
(perhaps passenger service wasn't available until later). One early episode
to mention the railroad is "Andy the Matchmaker." Barney goes down to the
tracks and finds Tracy Crawford prowling around down there.

Other black and white episodes with trains are "Opie's Hobo Friend" (from
the sound, they must have still been using old-fashioned steam trains) and
"If I Had a Quarter-Million."

Emmett Clark appeared only during the eighth season (he replaced Floyd the
barber). If the station you usually watch shows only black and white
episodes, you'll never see him. Maybe your friends catch the reruns on a
different channel?

According to The Definitive AGS Reference book, Ralph Bell played special
agent William Upchurch in the cow thief episode. (I like my moulages
light and fluffy so I add whipped egg whites!)

Almost any cassette tape or CD of Andy's various routines, etc. will have
the fishing song on it, except for his gospel recordings. By the way, I
have written to Sparrow urging them to do an album of Ange and Barn
harmonizing (remember that episode where they were singing "Sinners Lose
All Their Guilty Stains" in harmony while filing in the courthouse and it
was so pretty?!). They said they're working on it but it wouldn't hurt
for more fans to contact them and plead too.

Hello everyone,

Actress Jackie Joseph (Romeena) had quite a career. I wonder how many of you
remember her as Audrey, Seymour's girlfriend in "Little Shop of Horrors"?
(Which co-starred another TAGS guest star...Jack Nicholson.) She also
happened to be the voice of Melody, she of the wiggling ears, in the Saturday
morning animated classic "Josie and the Pussycats".

Subject: Andy's and Helen's Honeymoon?

First, me and Lydia want to say thanks for all the emails sent to us about
your "mystery dates." But some of the funniest have come to us, and not the
Digest. Come on, folks, get over your shyness, and start publishing! There's
a wealth of talent out here, just getting wasted
and unnoticed. Phfftt, you know who I'm talking to.
Now, for my latest problem. Have I been sitting out in the sun too long (I
know this can't be Lydia's problem seeing as she's allergic to
the sun and all), but I seem to have a vague memory of Andy and Helen
getting married and going on a honeymoon. Maybe this was the pilot episode
of the Mayberry RFD series, I don't know. Anyway, the real foggy memory is
of Andy and Helen apparently on their honeymoon, sitting on a balcony, Andy
playing his guitar & singing to Helen; then
the camera pans back and all of a sudden--big as life--there sits Barney!
Yes, siree, right there on the honeymoon with them, buttin'
in as usual!
So, is my memory right? Am I completely bonkers this time (recall that
I thought he and Helen had a baby girl)?
Help me out here, good people. My memory often plays tricks on me. I
remember that on the colored episodes, Opie carried a string of fish and
dropped one in the opening credits--could this be what y'all were talking
about recently? I recall that this is the way the colored show's credits
were
shown, over this new, older & in color image of Opie and Andy fishing--but
no one else seems to remember this, and it's been way too
many years since I have seen a colored episode to be sure myself.
But I think what Paul was talking about was the ending credits and the
way that ending featured the advertiser's's logo on the screen, and had
nothing to do with the opening credits. Right?
I'm gonna quit while I'm ahead.
Mrs. Wiley's party--
Barney: "Every woman here is a dog."
Andy: "Barney, that ain't nice!"
Barney: "Andy, it's the truth. If you flew a quail in here, every woman here
would point!
Laura Lee Hobbs, pointing out towards 123 S. Ozark, on the look-out not
necessarily for quails, but I'll get one if they're in season, but for gold
trucks always, they never go out of season

Subject: Jack Who

To all those who called, emailed, wrote, or hollered,
I got all your messages. It's Jack Nicholson, who's the award winning
actor, and not Jack Nicholas, the golfer, who guest starred on TAGS and who
was who I meant for my mystery date.
I guess that's why Annette is expecting his fourth child now, and I'm
still out receiving gold trucks..."There's a gold truck a-coming and me and
you and Gomer and Laura Lee Hobbs are gonna be there to receive
it." Andy

Hi folks,

The "Fishin' Hole" song and several others sung by Andy Griffith are
available from Weavers. Go to http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/
and click on music. The cd 'American Originals' is the one that has that
song & others. It's goood!

Happy motoring,

Subject: Mayberry Dream Date

Laura Lee poses an intriguing mental exercise for us.....who would our
Mayberry dream date be? Well, I got a bucket out of the janitor's closet
down at the Safari Lounge and took myself a good long think. I have
decided that I would go out with Gomer. Why, you may ask? Well, I have a
few reasons:

1) Gomer is a snazzy dresser...silver buckles on his shoes, acorns on
his tie
B) Gomer would never let me go to a dance unadorned
3) Gomer could serenade me
4) Gomer would probably fix my car for free
5) It would be easy to know where I stood with Gomer; if he kissed me
square on the jaw I would know we was engaged
6) And last but not least, Gomer was probably the sweetest boy what was
ever grown!

think I'll go down to the gas station for a bottle of Gomer, er, uh, I
mean pop!

Re: Mystery date-- Jack Nicholson/Warren Beatty
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I goofed again. It's Warren Beatty (not sure if that's
even how you spell his name, but you all know who I mean); anyway, Warren is
married to Annette and they have four children.
Jack Nicholson DID have a guest role on TAGS, and he is the one I was having
my mystery date with because I'm a fickle, no good woman! Doggone Me! I
should have stayed with my true love, Briscoe, and then I could have
avoided all this confusion, but noooooooo. Had to have a little excitement
in my life. A little danger. I ought to know I can't handle
anything more exciting that the expectation of a gold truck coming through.
Please, forgive me, Mr. Darling, and Lydia, for goodness sakes, PASS THAT
BUCKET! Laura Lee

Subject: Looking for a Mayberry Village Piece

Sure do enjoy sitting around listening to all you Mayberry folks everyday,
it's one of the highlights of my day! (I don't get out very much). I wish
there was a TV channel where you could watch Mayberry everyday, 24 hours a
day, I love it just that much. Thanks to videos I guess that's possible this
day and age. Was thankin' and thankin' the other day (without the bucket) a
way in which I could find a piece to my Mayberry Village that Hawthorn put
out, then discontinued, (bet they got a rude...). I have the complete village
set, except for "Barney's Sidecar." I'd do just about anything to find it, so
if any of you good folks know of one out there that someone might be willing
to part with, know it would be hard to do though, I would be ever so grateful
if you'd let me know.. I'm just a glutton...glutton...gluttttt..tonnnnn...for
the best TV show that ever was or will be...Love live the Andy Griffith
Show!!! By the way, my favorite episode is "Three Wishes for Opie"....that
Barney's a card!!!
Thanks,
Gail
