Hello Everyone !

I was watching a show of Andy's not to long ago. Where Andy, Peggy, Barney,
and Thellma Lou was at the lake. Barney did not want to take his shoes off
in front of the girls. I learned something I did not know about Thelma Lou.
I learned that she had a brother. Andy told Barney both the girls had
brothers.

Also, if anyone can tell me how to get the reunion show Andy hosted I would
appreciate it.

Hey all. Just wanted to throw in my "two cents" about my favorite
color episode. "Only a Rose" It is very touching, especially the end. I
often think that Clara and Bee put their friendship to many tests, and Clara
isn't always "neighborly". But this episode lets me see that she's only
human, and that goodness prevails in the end.

Welcome to posting in our little piece of Mayberry and the newsletter Alison!
It is a good question! I imagine there probably is a "technical" answer but
here is my common sense answer (lol)...
Most the time the squad car is parked out front of the courthouse pointed
toward the left of our viewing screen. This would make the driver's side of
the car on the street. Maybe they are getting in the passenger door and
sliding through to the steering wheel as not to get hit in person or the door
from a passing car.
I know tho when they go to various farms, I have seen Barn get out the
driver's door and Andy out the passenger door. Or of course vice versa if
Andy is doing the driving.
Well, just thought I would throw my two cents in!

Want one of Aunt Bee's pickles Allison? I have been keeping my eye on them
for her!

TAGS fans,

I have noticed people getting in on the passenger side of cars in
several series--not just TAGS. My theory is this: the shots of cars are
set up very specifically to keep from reflecting the camera crew in the car
windows. Perhaps they have characters get in on the same side of the car
because to open another door means another set of reflective angles to deal
with.

I'm envious of all of you who are seeing the color episodes. Other
than the two I have on tape, I haven't seen one in years. It would be
almost like watching new episodes.

I can remember, as late as the mid-1970s when I was in Driver's Ed., seeing
one of those old, brownish-tinted school films on auto safety. According to
said film, whenever entering your parallel parked vehicle it's safest to
enter on the passanger side and slide over--in those days you didn't see
many bucket seats, I guess. If you try to walk out in the street to enter
from the driver's side, who knows when a couple of speedin' fun girls from
Mt. Pilot might give you a close call! I don't know why Superman would need
to do it, though. . . .

Most WBMUTBB members are familiar with The Surry Arts Council from their
efforts in hosting Mayberry Days each year. However, they do so much more
for the town of Mt. Airy and now have a way to show everyone all the other
things they do - concerts, theatre, special programs and camps for kids, and
much more. I have been working to get their monthly newsletter online and
invite everyone to see just how much Surry Arts does for the community at
www.surryarts.org.

They are currently working on the Fund Drive 2000 and have provided
different ways to support all the programs they have throughout the year.
Most of us do not live close enough to Mt. Airy to enjoy all the programs
they produce, but they do have other great ideas on how you can help support
the arts and be a part of them forever. One interesting way is through
their "buy a chair" program. It is a great way for you or your TAGSRWC
Chapter to support Surry Arts and be recognized for your contribution -
forever. I hope you will look at this particular section of the webpage and
read more about it.

Most importantly, I have included a special section on Mayberry Days 2000
that has the tentative schedule for 2000 and information on ordering
tickets. They are selling out the events earlier each year, so don't miss
out by putting it off (you'll only get more irritable the longer you put it
off).

This here is Lydia. Somebody wanted to know who we most resembled on TAGS. I
thought I would tell y'all about Laura Lee Hobbs.
She looks a lot like Mr. Schump. Except his hair is thicker and a bit
shorter.
I asked one time if they were kin. She denied it, but she has been known to
avoid the truth before
You may now know why Laura Lee ain't had much success when it comes to
receiving any gold trucks. But she tries. Lord knows, that girls does
try.
I must go now as I don't like writing. Don't mind reading all that much. But
I hate writing. Laura Lee is calling. I really should not keep her waiting.
She is the impatient kind.
Y'all know what I look like.
Cheers, Lydia

I noticed tonight on the episode where Andy and family
headed out to Hollywood, CA -- the Mayberry Band who
was at the bus stop along with the rest of the town to
wish them off -- played VERY well!! They must have
been getting some practice in!

Who do I most look like on TAGS? Well, I don't like to brag, but I would
say since I'm a petite, green eyed, blonde, it would have to be
Angela (Susan Oliver) in that "Prisoner of Love" episode.

>>>

Before the days of bucket seats, this was considered the proper way to get
in and out of a car. The idea was that it was safer to slide across than to
get out in the path of oncoming cars (also, on a TV show, this meant they
wouldn't have to move the camera and lights as often). Nobody does it that
way any more, because almost no cars have those wide bench seats.

Now, can someone tell me why we get "in" and "out" of a car, but we get "on"
and "off" a bus? I've never figured that one out.
