I can suggest four good players for a new series:
Barney - David Browning
Floyd - Allan Newsome
Ernest T - Phil Lee
Aunt Bea - Alma Venable

Whoever the kid was at last Mayberry days would be an excellent Opie as he
was a dead ringer.
How about these as other players?
Goober could be played by Goober.
Charlene could be played by Charlene.
Mayor could be played by Andy.
Howard could be played by Barney.(Don Knotts)
Otis could be played by Tim Conway.
Somewhere along the way Tom Hanks could fit into the picture. Maybe as Dud
Wash?
Consider all these..

Then, when Barney left the show after 5 seasons, the obvious choice for
Deputy was the only man who really wanted to be seen in a Yew-nee-form and
that was Ernest T Bass!! Would that have been a hoot or what?

Dan Owsley here, from Salem, IN. We just did the "Back to Mayberry Bible
Study at our church on Wednesday nights. You can copy the lessons from
http://www.barneyfife.com/ I found the lessons there to be a great
starting point, but they are just an outline and we had to write more
open ended (discussion) questions. We also came up with a show related
craft each week for the kids to do. It was a lot of fun. Hope it goes
well for you. Also Nelson Word is selling the curriculum at that site.
But it seems really pricey to me. You can buy a series of 40 shows (10
tapes) from Columbia House through a tape club at
http://www.columbiahouse.com/i2/cgis/frmsrc?sid=cc3c0dc316e4fa73bcc419796
21df56d These tapes are wonderful. They are totally re mastered, the
sound and picture are excellent. They cost $25 per tape, but you get what
you pay for. You can also buy them all at once and save about $30 in
shipping. I haven't done that but here is the letter I got back when I
wrote Columbia House about this:

To order our entire collection of THE ANDY
GRIFFITH, please print and return this letter
with your prepayment to the address noted
below. If you prefer credit card billing, you may
call 1-800-457-0866 toll-free to place the order.

     Columbia House Video Library
     1400 N Fruitridge Ave
     Terre Haute, IN 47811

When purchasing an entire series at once, you
are not eligible for the preview option. We will
accept the return of defective films for replacement
only. There are 10 volumes in the series. The introductory volume is
available
for $4.95 plus $3.99 shipping and handling. Applicable tax for your
state will
also be added.

The remaining 9 volumes may be purchased at $19.95 each. The shipping
and
handling for the remaining volumes will be reduced to a flat rate of
$15.00.
Applicable sales tax for your state will be also be added.

If we may be of further assistance, please let us know.

TAGS fans,

Andy has made it clear in several interviews that he would never allow
anyone else to make a movie of the characters because no one else could
ever do Barney Fife as well as Don Knotts. As the creator/author/artist of
the NOW DAILY comic strip "Cottage & Co" I explored this topic a few years
ago. My picks for the actors were Harrison Ford as Andy Taylor, Bill
Murray as Barney Fife and Kathy Ireland as Aunt Bee. No, I wasn't serious.

correct, wrong. Kinda takes the fun out of a trivia game! <<
I agree, I have had the same problem many times. I was beginning to
think I WAS wrong myself and then some of the answers were quite obvious
and then I knew that the game itself was giving the wrong answers. You
are right, it takes the fun out of the trivia game. I have thought about
writing to the company that makes the game and maybe they would later
have an updated version that they would give me for free...it has
happened before with other things so I think it is worth a shot to write
them. I am sure they are aware that there are problems with the game by
now. That is quality control for ya!! Maybe the makers didn't think we
were as good at Mayberry Trivia as we are...we are a scrappy bunch of
trivia buffs, now aren't we? lol

actors now even a bit part would set me up for the rest of my life, I could

I tell you one thing I'm going to do if they do make a movie with Tim Allen
and David Spade, I'll stand outside my local theater and pay people NOT to
see it. Well, back to gold truck watching.

Thoughts of making a Mayberry movie? That needs to be nipped right in the
bud.
Hollywood would just make a big moulage out of it anyway. There's not a
person who could possibly be a better Barney than David Browning, our own
Allan Newsome has captured the persona of Floyd our favorite barber, and Phil
Lee has nailed Ernest to a "T". That's because they share the same
compelshun complex we all have. (not the handwashing one).....the one that
makes us watch TAGS again and again and again, and feel like Mayberry's our
hometown.
It's nice.......real nice.

Hey to All!
Ohhh Bubba, I can't even think of if its gotta be....why that leaves me plum
speechless! If it has to be, guess I won't be attending so it would be a
moot point to me. My peace and tranquility of Mayberry and all of its
citizens will always stay true with no fussin with the cake batter! I just
can see anybody filling those shoes or badges of Andy or Barney (or any
Mayberry citizen) to my satifisfaction. Guess for me it would be more of a
matter of just let sleepin dogs lie. When I even go there, I can just hear
ole Barney saying "Nothing but dogs".....

Just adding my two cents..back to the pickle stock for me.
Sandi
