"Hick Flick: Comedians Tim Allen and David Spade huddling in talks to star
in a big-screen remake of TV's smash series, 'The Andy Griffith Show.'
It'll be called 'Mayberry,' with Tim playing Sheriff Andy and David
reprising Don Knotts' role as Barney Fife. Stay tuned!"

Has anyone else heard about this?
  >>
No No - Say it isn't so. This is sacrilege !!! Now - I'm NOT breaking Rule
#2 because I'm not saying this about Mayberry characters - but I DO NOT like
Tim Allen. I don't think he's funny at all and he'd have a lot of nerve
trying to fill Andy Taylor's Wellington's. I guess I live under a rock
because I don't know who David Spade is but I'll bet I won't like him either.
Now if you want to beat me to death with your parasol - go ahead. I said it
and I ain't takin' it back neither.

I think this has been talked about before on here (what hasn't?), but I have
to pass along this thing that happened to me today. I was about to play the
organ for a funeral, and a lady I know who also is an organist said she'd
sit in the back by me. I was joking with her and said, "Well, if I have to
run out, you can take over!" And SHE laughed and (jokingly) said, get this,
"Sure, Mike!" Well, I wanted to ask her right then and there where that
phrase originates from but didn't have a chance (she doesn't watch the show
so it didn't come from there). I just thought it neat that a rather obscure
phrase from the show, the origin of which is unsure, at least as far as I
know, showed up today in everyday life!

ever marry?

Andy Griffith and his first wife Barbara had two children, both adopted.
Son Sam Andy Griffith is now deceased; I believe their daughter Dixie is
still living.

Don Knotts has been married twice. He has a son named Tom and a daughter
named Karen (see photo in the newest Bullet). Karen is an actress who
sometimes works with her dad. She played Opie's secretary in "Return to
Mayberry."

I was just watching one of my many tapes of TAGS, (thanks to my diligent
children, we have most all shows taped, about 20 tapes)...anyway, it was the
classic "Sheriff without a gun" episode with Barney Fice and the bank
robbery. We noticed that Barney was filling in Fred at the hotel about his
"making a splash" and I got to wondering, who actually runs or owns the
hotel? Is it the town, or Perhaps our High Society choir director John
Masters (who has a reputation in this part of the State) owns it and employs
others to run it for him. I have seen J. Masters behind the desk, as well as
Fred, whom I mentioned, and Asa and Jason. Any ideas? Just kinda curious,
and I'd give one of them little lemon cookies from the diner to find out,
(they are goooood too, top it off with a little lemon phosphate and you're in
business).

I have been having a little trouble with my e-mailer and some of this stuff
is a little old. Allan Has been helping me get my e-mail problem fixed.
Hes a Prince!!!

First, thanks to Laura Lee Hobbs for your great posts. They are great fun.
And in response to one of her questions about "Dream Dates", I would be torn
between three lovely Mayberry ladies. Mary (Sue Ann Langdon) and the county
nurse that Barn took up to Rafe's house to give him his shot. I dont
remember her real name or her name on the show, except it kinda seems like
her name was also Mary but Im not sure. Also guys I haven't heard anyone
pick Miss Ellen Brown (Barbra Eden). If yall will remember nature was very
very good to her. Those are my picks.

A while back we were talking about minor TAGS characters. I think my
favorite would have to be the lady (I dont remember her real name) who
played Elinora Poltis Barney's voice teacher, ( I just gave you an "A" in
breathing) and Big Maude alias Ralph Henderson. Two rolls which required
exact opposites not only in acting requirements and style but appearance and
the social graces or lack there of.

As everyone knows, lately they have been making "Big Screen" movies based
upon old programs such as Leave It To Beaver, Lost In Space, Zoro and many
others. This got me to begin wondering that if TAGS were made into a movie,
who would everyone pick to play the characters both major and minor? Now
everyone please dont steel Earnest T's rocks and start throwing them at me
as I realize that no one could take the place of the original cast that we
all love so much. And I am not even sure we would even want a TAGS movie
with orher folks. But If they did, and kinda like "imaginary dates", who
would you pick for the TAGS movie cast? Of course our own Allan (Floyd)
Newsome and David (Barney) Browning would be the logical place to start.

Laura Lee keep watching for that gold truck and dont let it sneak into town
without you a knowing it. They can be real sneaky!!!

Hey To All!
I for one haven't heard this one but then I usually am not of "An Enquiring
Mind Wants To Know" to read this tabloid. I thought Andy had all rights lock
stock and barrel of anything to do with TAGS and Mayberry. Would this movie
and script have to go through Andy? I personally find this hard to believe
that he would sign rights over now for this, especially when movies remaking
shows aren't really BIG or blockbusters. The success of remakes to "Leave It
To Beaver" and "My Favorite Martian" weren't that BIG. To me they weren't
remakes of the show but merely takes on it which, in my opinion, was a vast
difference from the quality of the original shows. I just can't believe Andy
would do this! Ewww...this just doesn't set well for me. I don't wanna
see this in my part of Mayberry...anyone want my ticket?

Rathering keep tabs on Aunt Bee's pickles and even DINE on one of them!
Happy Easter!

Interesting question. How many times can you remember Barney blowing his
whistle?
