First, the black and white episodes (all the ones with Barney) will continue to air in our regular rotation in the evenings. Then, in June, the color episodes will begin airing separately as part of Twice as Nice Mornings. - pretty cool! Hasty ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 May 2000 21:18:21 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Academy Award Winners on TAGS To the question of Academy Award winners appearing on TAGS besides Jack Nicholson, the one that comes to mind is George Kennedy. He played a detective who was staking out the Mayberry jail, along with another detective. Barney, of course, bungled the case. Kennedy won the award for "Cool Hand Luke." I think I look forward to reading your contribution to the digest, almost more than anything else. I got so tickled thinking about quoting a TAGS line in a crowd. :o) I can just imagine the looks on people's faces, if they are not TAGS fans. But like you said, what harm is there? It would be a great way to meet some fellow fans. Thanks to all of those that inquired and let us know about the disappearance of the colored episodes. Although, I don't like them as well as the B&W, I still enjoy them. There were a few that I had not seen and I was looking forward to them, so that I could pride myself with having seen every single episode. Mom was trying to record all of the episodes, so needless to say, she was disappointed, as well. What a relief to know that the colored ones will be back soon. I can't wait to tell Momma. Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there. "Ain't we lucky to be living in such a friendly town?" I think I once saw Thelma Lou wearing an angora sweater, too, which were really "cool" back there. And - remember this - no one wore white after labor day, or black patent leather shoes after memorial day. I have tried to explain this strict fashion rule to my daughter, and it just boggles her mind -- she keeps asking me WHY! How strange - we never asked why back then, did we? But I know Aunt Bea would understand - she wore white gloves to the grocery store! But they were wonderful, won't they? I grew up in a little town in Illinois just like Mayberry, and whenever I get homesick, I always check out a TAGS. Always makes me feel better. :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 May 2000 15:44:47 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #144 I loved the inter-actions between Andy and Aunt Bea,and I was really upset to hear that in "real life" (But Mayberry is real, isn't it?), Aunt Bea didn't like Andy. But at least she "made up" with him before she died. Regarding the big controversy - color vs. black-and-white, I lean towards the black and white, too, (the pickle story, aunt bea gets tipsy singing toot-toot-tootsie-goodby), but I also liked a lot of the color ones too. Remember when Andy had four spagetti suppers with the "secret ingredient"? Loved that one! Also when Howard decides to throw a bachelor bash? Too funny! :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 May 2000 23:39:05 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #143 Howdy again... Just what's all this talk about a Mayberry movie? I have only heard of it through the digest (to which I am a new subscriber) and I find it hard to believe that anyone would do such a thing! I totally agree with bRAnDOn in that you can't recreate a perfect people in a perfect time!! Let's just hang on to the reruns and let that be the end of it. I can guarantee you that if a movie is made, here's one loyal fan that will NOT be seeing it. Also, I'd like to share one of my favorite lines...I haven't seen anyone refer to this one and I wonder if I'm just weird because I find it so funny... "I can take some cleanin' up and I can take some fixin' up, but I ain't about to be beat to death with no spoon!" (The episodes with the Darlings are among my very favorites!) Thanks for listenin' .
