The Dillards were signed to Elektra (1962 - 1970). The song (the group version) is on the 1964 album "Live!!! Almost!!!" (the cover has 3 standing,1 in casket....). Supposedly the need for them to be in the color shows (one color episode only) might have made Doug Dillard leave. I believe that is Herb Pedersen in that color one. Griffith got them signed to Capitol in '66, where they supposedly cut some singles (and recycled material). Maybe this version got released there? PS - You might want to get the compilation "There Is a Time" (covering the Elektra material). All the original albums are out of print! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 May 2000 18:10:15 GMT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jeff Krentz) Subject: Re: Credit where credit is due >I've wondered why Miss Ellie is not acknowledged in the credits for the >show. The episodes running on TVland currently have the announcer voicing in with "Also starring Don Knotts and Elinore Donahue" right with the opening rock-throwing credits. She's not listed in the end credits? I'll have to look. Now I've been studyin' on this a while and I've decided that iff'n I were the high sheriff, I'd have let that pharmacy gal catch me, desperate hunter status notwithstanding. She sure is pretty. Makes good faces too! We named the English Springer Spaniel pup that we recently rescued from the Humane Society "Miss Ellie" and she's a PHG too. That would stand for "pretty hairy gal" in this case. Speaking of girlfriends - I loved seeing the first appearance of Barney's sweetheart Hilda Mae in the "Ellie for Council" episode earlier this week. The best line of the show? Of course it is Barney to Hilda Mae when they are about to take a "walk down by the lake" at the picnic. =20 "If I were you, I wouldn't be worryin' about any wild animals..." Since we are both TAGS fans, we often tell each other that all the parenting experts are in favor of "bud-nipping." I was wondering if anyone could tell me the exact line that Barney uses when he tells Andy that. I'd really appreciate it. Soon technology will allow creative people to use actors's images in new=20 scenes. The John Wayne Coors commercials and Fred Astaire dancing vacuum=20 commercials already do so. Why not make new Andy episodes with those "actors." Perhaps Mr. Griffith=20 could supervise the scripts to maintain high quality? Maybe some new comic=20 adventures could be created. Not a show I like but my husband does. Anyway, they had one scene at a zoo. A rhinoceros had wondered into the pen of a giraffe and the giraffe ran up and started bumping the rhino out of his pen. Butting him with his head and backside until the rhino went over a short rock wall back into his own pen. The only thing I could say was, "Boy, giraffes are selfish." Barney proved right again. Rick......"Soap?" >>> Originally, in her earliest episodes, she received third billing in the opening credits, BEFORE Don Knotts. When the series was created, the character of Ellie Walker was considered more important than Barney Fife, who was added to the show as a mere afterthought. Later, as the episodes began more and more to feature Barney Fife, they moved her name to the closing credits. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 May 2000 23:44:34 -0700 From: "Larry Johnson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #147 Hey Friends, I hate to hear the unpleasant side of the Andy Show.
