<<Does anyone know the lyrics to "Church in the Wild Wood" that
Andy and
Barney sing? I am stressed and that song helps me; however, I
only know
the refrain.>>

There's a church in the valley by the wildwood,
No lovelier spot in the dale;
No place is so dear to my childhood,
as the little brown church in the vale.

Oh, come to the church in the vale,
To the trees where the wild flowers bloom;
Where the parting hymn will be chanted,
We will weep by the side of the tomb.

How sweet on a clear Sabbath morning,
To list to the clear ringing bell;
Its tones so sweetly are calling,
Oh come to the church in the vale.

From the church in the valley by the wildwood,
When day fades away into night,
I would fain from this spot of my childhood
Wing my way to the mansions of light.

Come to the church by the wildwood,
Oh, come to the church in the vale.

Did I hear Barney right? Moths can get tangled up in your hair, lay their
nasty little eggs, and cause you to go crazy?
Boy, Moths are Selfish!
That makes them just as bad as giraffes, worse maybe. At least giraffes
can't lay eggs in your hair and drive you insane. The worse they can do
is just stick their long necks out in the air and get hit by lightning.
But them moths are sneaky. Flying up by the lights at baseballs games,
pouncing on innocent people, even children not wearing hats, doing their
dirty deed, and wham, before you know what's going on, you wake up crazy!
I never knew it was on account of moths people lost their good sense, did
you? Now, thanks to Barney, we've all been warned.
I for one will always be traveling with a pair of tweezers in case I need to
feed a hungry tiger, and I'm always gonna keep my pretty locks
covered up from now on.
I may go crazy, but it won't be from moth eggs.

I always thought electric lather machines went "klep...klep...klep", not
"klup klup klup". Whatever they sounded like, I know it was music to
Floyd's ears!

Speaking of sounds, what was that sound Gilley Walker's car made??
"Chop-wheat, chop-wheat, chop-wheat", or was it "puckapuckapucka"?

Subject: Ron Howard in Mayberry RFD

Unless I missed some episodes, to my knowledge Ron Howard does not appear
anymore after the first episode of Mayberry RFD. I think references are made
to him upon Andy and Helen's return but he is not seen. Andy is in quite a
few episodes of the first season then they "move away". Later on in the
series, Andy does not appear at all.

Also, if you are into sets and behind the scenes of Mayberry, watch for the
town to "change" 3/4 of the way through the 1969-70 season. They switched
from the 40 acres town lot in Culver CIty, CA, used in The Andy Griffith
Show, to the Warner Brothers backlot in Burbank, CA . This town set was also
used in The Waltons, Dukes of Hazzard as well as the remake movie of Its a
Wonderful Life and many other TV shows and films. I am told the 40 acres lot
burned to the ground around this time period and this is why the change...
however, I cannot find any documentation on it... but am still looking.

Jason

Folks. If you are all such fans of TAGS, you could at least get the
names of the episodes correct.
There is no "What's Your Hurry". The episode is titled "Man in a Hurry".
Please make a note of that.
Thanks.

Well, there was Andrew "Pawwwwl" Lawson and his young "Brother" -
but that's a different situation all together. Their father was Floyd
Lawson, of Floyd Lawson Enterprises.

Is there a Don Knotts site out there, or does anyone know
a way to get in contact with him at all? I heard that he
is no longer signing autographs by mail, but it would be cool
to get in touch with him. Address??

Let's try to keep the talk here a little bit more like the folks in Mayberry
would have. I'm afraid that Ben Weaver *may* be trying to slip in on us.
Let's not worry folks too much about their spelling or about not knowing the
titles of the episodes.

There's lots of folks that might not speak up and give us their insights if
we get picking and expect 'em all to know TAGS at the same level. Some folks
might not know episode names or they may not spell very well (I'm not talking
about not knowing that Aunt Bee spells her name B-E-E...we'll correct folks
on that cause it worries me..ha ha). Not knowing stuff is okay. We'll help
you folks on that.

Just feel free to "ask away" and we'll do what we can to answer your
questions.

Now, let's all go and "act like somebody."

Hey, Charlie! I believe that it was stated in the episode that Opie went
camping. But now I'm wondering about something else....I got the
impression from everyone's conversation that Andy and Helen were coming
back to Mayberry. Goober said he was acting sheriff til Andy got back nd
even in a postcard Andy said "we'll see ya soon". Was it played that
Andy was still the sheriff but unseen in Mayberry RFD? I thought him and
Helen came back to have their baby christened. Help clear this up for
me!

If my memory serves me correctly, Andy's church had two services on Sunday.
At least in one episode Andy referred to this. In the episode where Ollie
and Nora come to visit, Andy and Aunt Bee were sitting on the porch
discussing families going to church and Andy calls out to someone saying
that they went to the first service.

We all love to find editing problems that crop with with the single camera
approach used on TAGS. Things appear and disappear, move around and so on
but I saw one last night I had not noticed (I'm still an apprentice
noticer). When the moonshine farmer first brings his rooster to the house
and Opie is petting the bird, in what I call the "Opie" shot, the rooster
decides all these takes have made him tired and he sits down. So with the
Opie shot, he's sitting down; with the farmer shot, he's up; so as they cut
back and forth to each character it was up-down-up-down-up-down for the
rooster. It got funnier the longer the scene lasted.

Was watching one of the fun girls episodes yesterday and noticed
something. Barney is sitting in the car, trying to make up with Thelma
Lou, and then later Andy is sitting there trying to make up with Helen.
If you look at the background ( bushes) you'll notice that the car
hasn't moved an inch. I guess Andy and Helen waited till Barney and Thel
had made up and then they switched places..lol

I don't believe anybody has posted this already. Don Knotts is scheduled to be
the subject of MSNBC's "Headliners and Legends with Matt Lauer" tonight
(Thurs.) at 10 p.m. ET. They've been working on this profile since April, but
were still getting info and photos from TAGSRWC's Archives as late as this
morning, so there's a chance it might get bumped at the last minute (like the
profile on Jim Nabors did) because it's not finished in time. But folks might
want to tune in to see.

Subject: What Was She Thinking, Part II

Now, I love Aunt Bee, I really do, I mean I spell her name right and
everything. But in yet another "What was she thinking?" taken from the
episode of Dolly the horse who didn't want to retire, why did she blame
Andy when Dolly got sick and wouldn't eat? Remember the courthouse scene,
when she told him that as sheriff he should know how to handle such
emergencies? I mean, really now, why would Aunt Bee or anyone think that?
And then when Andy asked what time dinner would be, she frostily replied, "I
don't know. I haven't decided yet." Like she was going to punish him if he
didn't come up with a cure for Dolly.
When the feuding families came in and broke up the nice couple from
marrying, it was all Andy's fault, according to Opie and Aunt Bee. He just
let them scare him. Heck, they were carrying shotguns; they'd have scared
me. When the State/county/whatever decided to build a highway through that
guy's house (can't remember his name), that was Andy's fault, too. When
Opie found a baby, and started asking questions that embarrassed everyone,
well guess whose fault it was?
And even though it was always Barney who spread the erroneous rumors of
their engagement the other two times, as soon as the third rumor got
started, who did Helen immediately blame? Poor old Andy. Now what was
SHE thinking? So, it's by no means just Aunt Bee.
Bless his heart.
For a guy who goes out of his way to keep the peace, he still ends up with
an interloper on his honeymoon!
You tries and you tries to be good, and you just gets it thrown right back
in your face. I know. I'm too nice.
Laura Lee Hobbs, dime store clerk & gold truck watcher, and I know how to
blame where it belongs and it seldom belongs on our Andy
Barney to Big Maude (aka Ralph Henderson) "You're beginning to get to me."
