I just moulaged two episodes and deserve more than just a leg of lamb across the face!!! I got "What's your Hurry" and "Man in a Hurry" mixed up. I must have been in a hurry, duh! So before anyone hurls anything.....ooops. Must be those plucking poultry appendages overflapping on this end!!!! Harriet, "You see that foot? How in the world could I get that big ole foot, all of it, in my mouth?" ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 18:34:06 GMT From: "Harriet Browder" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Un cut epilogues Couple other epilogues that I figure they never cut were: A. New Pharmacist. When Emma recovers and Andy comes to Ellie asking for pills for Emma's stomach. "Really, Andy, it's all in her head." "Well, no, it's all in her stomach. She ate all that food and now she really is sick!" Just wouldn't have ended right without those lines. and 2. If'n I'm not mistaken - the episode I moulaged about - "Man in a hurry" has Mr. Tucker sitting in the rocker napping with the peeled apple in his hand. But as the trained noticers will point out, when they keep the epilogue surely something else is lost. By the way, I'm trully enjoying Nick-at-Nite's Summer Block Party. And sure enough, last night I noted three separate shows when a few lines were cut to make room for the "dessert". Harriet, "Lookee there, Mr. Tucker!" ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 14:47:40 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Barney's hair In a message dated 7/5/00 12:09:13 PM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: << They switch back and forth between close up and longshots several times consecutively. I guess they must have done a couple different takes of that scene, once close up, and once long shot, and just edited them together. >> Since Tags was filmed with one camera they got all the shots of one position at the same time and so on then edited them. So on the long shots Barns hair was fixed. The close up was course a mess. Hasty ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 13:28:18 -0600 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Opie and Mork TAGS fans, The discussion of "Courtship of Eddie's Father" reminds me that one time on "Happy Days" Howard and Marion went to see the movie "The Music Man." They stop to look at a poster on the way out and Marion says that "that little boy reminded me so much of Richie at that age" to which Howard says, "Nah." Then, on another episode, Mork was watching TV and the TAGS theme could be heard. He remarked, "I like that boy Opie. But why would an earth boy have a martian name?" Even though the marque said 11 AM Service, usually in the summer (in the South) Sunday service started at 10:30 or earlier. Most moms would have a roast or hen in the oven (you could actually go to church and leave something cooking in the oven and not worry about the house burning down) so you could have dinner as soon as you got home. Then it was lounging around on the porch or nap time or even churning out some homemade ice cream. As far as the story about the band - when they started out putting the band together remember they didn't know the uniforms were falling apart and the band stand was deteriated. And also, summer evenings didn't get dark til around 9 >> Hey To All! I would like to add to Harriet's wonderful explanation--she did a real fine job! First point that I was thinking about the original post was on the question of kids having to be in bed early. Back in the 60's in the summer, the bedtimes seem to be moved back so we could play our little hearts out before dark thus making us sleep like a snug bug! Of course when school started, we were snapped back into the earlier bedtime. This looked to be a summer day from my preception so Opie's would have been out of school and his bedtime could have been relaxed. Secondly we are having a really hot and humid day today and to expound on Harriet's thoughts for all to read, by cooking the roast or dinner while at church would be cooking it during the morning hours. I would think since they generally didn't have air conditioners back then and it was the south, this could also be away to keep the house as cool as possible by not heating the house up in the heat of the day with the stove and oven. Trying to keep the pickle stash cool! This week was the first time I have seen this episode, but I think Andy said Opie was camping with another Mayberry family or spending his time over there. Sam did ask Andy where Aunt Bee and Opie would be. However, there are TAGS episodes available on DVD. They turn up on eBay all the time (I've sold several myself - BTW my screen name is "squadcar".) You may also be able to find them at large chain stores like Best Buy, Hastings, or Sam's Club. Paul >> Hey To All! I have heard from a many of my fellow Mayberrians today over my confusion of DVD and Dick Van Dyke...many thanks for setting me on the right road of thinkin'! I just never thought of The Dick Van Dyke Show as DVD and I was still pondering the TAGS on DVD's so guess I got befuddled! I will keep scouting these out since you all have seen them around. I have been in Best Buys, Media Play, WalMart and Suncoast (owned by Media Play) but haven't seen them yet. I looked over at Weaver's and I couldn't find them there either. They may not be as good of quality as the episodes on tape I am getting from Columbia House Video. When you are out of town every other week and can't get ANY TAGS, you'll take what you can get the paws on! Seeing as I always have my laptop with me, my DVD drive (yep the Disc not Dick VanDyke) gives me away of not being with out TAGS if I can find the DVD discs. For all those who set me on the right path of thinking in my befuddlement, you want a jar of pickles? Sometimes such changes were necessary when a series moved to a differet network, or a different studio. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 14:55:43 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Miss Brewster >Also, a question: Was Cheerio Meredith (Mrs Brand) in Arsenic and Old Lace with Cary Grant or does she just bear a resemblance to the ladies who were in that picture? >> You're probably confusing her with actress Josephine Hull, who played Abby Brewster in "Arsenic and Old Lace." She's also well-known for her performance as Veta Louis Simmons in "Harvey." Martha Brewster was played by Jean Adair. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 15:04:03 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: I scream, you scream.... >I made homemade ice cream for the fourth. Is there an episode that actually shows Ange making ice cream on the porch? >Ben Sellers Yes, it's "Bailey's Bad Boy" (the one with Bill Bixby.) They make strawberry. The original script for "Man in a Hurry" also called for ice cream to be made on the porch, but for some reason the scene was never filmed. Andy starts cranking, then complains of a sore wrist and asks Mr. Tucker to take over. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2000 13:13:13 PDT From: "Ben Young" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Floyd's son? I was watching TAGS on nick's block party summer the other night and saw the show where the shoe salesman comes to town and everyone thinks he's a talent scout. I havn't seen it in a long time and never paid much attention to it but when i saw it the other night i noticed that Floyd brought his son to play his saxophone for the salesman. I had never realized that he had any children on the show until then. Is that the only reference to him having a son on the show? ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 15:20:16 -0500 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: TAGS Addresses Does anyone know any of the addresses or how to find the addresses of the stars who played on TAGS? As was recently mentioned in the Digest, you can see Opie...I mean Ronny...in "The Music Man". He does a very good job playing Winthrop! You can also catch brief glimpses of Glen Cripes (the bass singer who sings when Barney does his "solo" with the extra-sensitive microphone) and also Arnold Winkler (the spoiled kid who rides his bike on the sidewalk -- can't remember the actor's name). They are some of the townspeople in River City!
