Saw the one last night where Gomer gets to sing the tenor solo instead of
Barney, and if I'm not mistaken, they did not show an epilogue. Have they
stopped showing them on TVLand? Was there no epilogue to this episode? Had
my cider turned hard and I was a little out of it and missed it?

<< Are you referring to the episode where Andy and Helen get caught in the
cave-in? Barney was talking about bats in that one -- bats fly in your
hair and make you crazy! Hee Hee I love that episode >>
Have to agree...one of my favorite scenes. :-) Barney *did* make a reference
to moths then tho....when he ducked and Thelma Lou said, "Oh Barney, that's a
moth!" And Barney says, "Well, you don't want moth eggs in your hair
either!" Too funny!
And Miss Poovey, I loved your Aunt Bee in flight site!

Hey To All!
There is a site online where you can look up your favorite stars who have
passed away and "visit" their graves. It is www.findagrave.com
Hal Smith passed away in 1994 due to a heart attack. His interrment can be
found at the above site with his wife and son in a mausoleum at Woodlawn
Cemetary in Santa Monica, California.
Hal was born in 1916, which would have made him 78 at the time of his passing
away.

Subject: Aunt Bee showed new strength
We love Aunt Bee. A lot has been said about her, lately. There is a point I
just have to bring up for y'all to notice: When Aunt Bee finally decided to
stay at the farm on RFD wedding episode, she "took on" a new strength that was
NEVER there before! Yes, she could be tough when she needed to. I do not mean
that way. No matter what she did or how she helped out at the house, she was
"under" Andy's "covering" so to speak. She always gave him the final ...what
ever you call it. (Kind of like Grandpa McCoy on the Real McCoy's).
But, on the wedding episode, when she faced her fears and won...she took
on a strength...it showed! and she almost stood taller! I could see it. Now,
SHE was the ONE every body looked to for the answers, and decisions of the
household of the RFD show. I adore that part of the wedding episode just as
much or maybe more than the wedding. To see Aunt Bee so tall, strong and
proud...wow!

Re DSNance on Moths & Bats
Yeah, bats are bad, but remember, what Barney THOUGHT was a bat flying
around, Thelma Lou told him was only a moth. That's when he went into his
speech about moths being dangerous, too (they get tangled up in your
hair, lay their eggs, and you go crazy). She reminded him he was wearing a
hat, so what was he worrying about so much? If you have this
episode on tape, please go back and listen to it again. The moth thing goes
by quickly. But it is there. So, cover your head, and watch out for
them moth eggs. They'll drive you crazy. Bat eggs are dangerous, too.

I can remember 2 other episodes. In "Stranger comes to Town", there is
an African-American man in the background when Lucy's brother was trying
to fight the stranger. Also, when Barney captures the crook who says
he's "Comin' to get you Deputy!", there is an African-American woman in
the crowd cheering Barney. Any other episodes with minorities in them?

If I'm remembering correctly, Barney and Thelma Lou were trying to find Andy
and Helen after the cave in. A moth flew into Barney and he told Thelma Lou
to watch out because if a bat got tangled up in your hair, you'd go crazy.
Thelma Lou said it was just a moth. Barney told her in a way that indicated
he didn't like being corrected the moths in your hair would make you go crazy
too! Let's all visit a psychiatric hospital and look the patients over for
bat claw marks in the hairline!

Hey Folks! I just got finished watching "Return to Mayberry" on WGN. It
sure was great to see everyone again. In my book there's no better way to
spend a Saturday night...rocking my new baby, and watching Andy. I am
blessed!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Today my family and I were going from the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh
to the Cameron Village Library and passed the YMCA. I pointed out the
corner room were Barney used to stay. You know they serve a great breakfast
if you don't mind getting up early.
Also, I saw Clint Howard on a show today which I believe was called Total
Recall. I noticed for the first time how much he favored Ron and sounded
like him too.
I hope this is interesting enough. Ha Ha.

<<<Hey!!! Like many on the digest, I am looking forward to the episode
where Aunt Bee learns to fly a plane. But recalling all the grief it
took to teach her how to drive a car, who'da thunk that our Miss Taylor

put together this little site just for fun about Aunt Bee and her

Hey Miss Poovey,
I loved your little website about Aunt Bee and her drivin'. Just wanted
to let you know I got a giggle out of it! Also, I would love to see the
Mayberry, RFD episode when Andy and Helen get married. If any one can get it
to me, I'll be happy to pay for it. Thankee!

Subject: being serious is hard/ moths
Just a couple of comments from the last digest. I
think Barney said that bats would lay there eggs in
your hair and you would go crazy. When Thelma Lou
says it's just a moth and not a bat, Barney says moths
do the same thing.
Also, when Andy said that being serious was Hard, I
heard the word hard coming out as when, in the Mrs.
Mendlebright episode, "that ciders turned hard".
Barney was gassed.
Thanks for letting me ramble
Buzz Fluehart
Bless her heart

Hello to everyone! I have been away for several days and just came in to
catch up on my Digest...I still love reading the comments and sharing mine
with you all but I am really surprised at the folks who write somewhat
negative stuff to this site. I mean, if you don't like what you read, there
are only about a billion other sites to which you could go! As for me, there
isn't a place in the world I'd rather be than "Mayberry" ...And as for Aunt
Bee's bossiness, what would Mayberry have been like if she had been the
dumure, stay-in-the-kitchen, June Cleaver (no offence, June- it worked for
you), type? Not nearly as funny. And I must add, that woman was a wonderful
actress!
So good to be back in Mayberry...thanks for listening...Abysinnia! Crystal M.

already got the 25 years of Andy, and the 30 years of Andy anniversery
shows,I,ve been watching a lot of the Andy Griffith show here lately,in one
of thier annivery specials Sheldon Leanard got on the camera after one of the
shows aired and he said at first they weren't going to put Don Knotts as a
regular chacter on the show, but as one of them characters that came in and
out of the shows(I guess like Ernest T,or the Darlin family)boy are we lucky
they did,I think he totally made the show, without Barney I don't think it
would've lasted to long.Maybery fan in Louisville
