Some of my favorites are : 1 - After Mr McBeevee cannot be proved by Andy, he was going to spank Opey, he comes down and says "But I believe in Opie". I wonder how many of our kids today here that? 2 - When Opie walks off the field when loosing the race, Andy comes home. In todays world, yelling, throwing, screaming, is accepted. Not Andy, he just looks at Opie and says "I'm disappointed in ya". WOW!!!! 3 - When Opie kills the bird, and runs upstairs after dinner. Andy goes up, takes the slingshot, asks him for honesty, and Opie confesses. He opens the window, and says "now listen to those birds chirp for their momma for a while". What a great example of discipline!! Why hit? Why yell? I aim to be that dad, and every day I fail. Yet at the same time, the aim and target alone is a great reward. And they say TV is bad for us? Take it in context. Bill "Citizens Arrest" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 09:01:37 -0500 From: "Johnson, Gary" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Ernest T. Bass Sighting... Ernest T. Bass on Bob Newhart Saturday morning, TVLand, but he'd cleaned up and matured...somewhat. Even used his harmonizing voice on a song. He done good. I wonder what the "T" was in Ernest's name (Trouble?), "P" in Barnard "P" Fise (Persnickety?), or Fike, or however those folks who depend on spellin' for a livin' spell it, Reverend Hobart "M" Tucker, Sam "W" Becker, Fred "H" Goss, or Mary "T" Ellis. I have been out of the loop for the past couple weeks with my digest going to my old email address, and being transferred to USS Enterprise homeported in Norfolk, VA. Thanks to my wife, Feb, and to Allan, I am back to receiving our digest again at my new email address. Meanwhile, Feb forwarded a digest to me from the 18th or 19th, and should write in but Tracey who's been out of the loop for a LONNNGGG time. WELCOME BACK TRACEY. That is one of my alltime favorite scenes. Especially since our good sheriff gets to have a good helping of crow. Also, the Christmas episode, where Ol' Ben is singing in front of the window. And when Gomer is watching Barney sing in the room by himself in the episode of the Song Festers, and then wants to give up his spot so that Barney can have it. Well, I am sure I will have more to add later, but for now that is all. Goober says hey.. He did, however, appear in a Gomer Pyle episode." I thought Sheldon Leonard was one of the businessmen in the Miracle Salve episode, the one who was in the back room. But I could be wrong. Ya tries and ya tries to learn your trivia like Paul Mulik but sometimes it just don't work. Wendy ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 12:19:44 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Otis In a recent episode of Adam-12 Malloy and Reed were following a drunk driver and lo and behold it was none other than Otis Campbell behind the wheel. Also a couple questions in the recent episode with Bill Bixby in the jail wasn't there a scene where he was playing the radio and said don't this town swing on Saturday night it wasn't in the episode I watched. Also after an episode the ending credits listed Mary Lange and Hope summers but they were not in that show? I'm a little fuzzy on this. Aunt Bee of Orlando ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! How about that fast-talking guy? He elaborates the most on our beloved Mayberry and I'm so proud every time I hear it. And who'd've ever thought ole' Ed Norton was so hip?! Tickles me. I have been watching TAGs pretty much all day today since it has been raining most of the day. I have just got out my tapes, and started watching them, and I have came across something that I really never noticed before. In the episode 39 "Mayberry goes Bankrupt", they are in 1961 discussing how Frank Meyers had a bond that was 100 years old, and then watching the episode 82 "Class Reunion", they were the class of 1945? Now how could this be? Andy had been sheriff for a while, and by this he would have only been 16 in the "Mayberry goes Bankrupt" episode. Even if it was college (which it wasn't, he still would have only been 20) Just a little tidbit that had somehow slipped past me in all the times I had watched these two episodes. No biggy, just gets me to thinking. Newland S. McElfresh III No.....no....no...but I do believe in Opie. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 19:52:40 -0400 (EDT) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: creations from under the buckets Well, I've been under the bucket again and this is what happened: http://community-2.webtv.net/misspoovey2/anewnameinhorror/ Don't let the name fool ya, it's another famous MissPoovey TAGS related site! Hope it brings a smile or two; especially to those of you who do not have TVLand. ~the groovy misspoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 20:23:38 CST From: "The Hendersons" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: saw Rodney Dillard and the Boys from Mayberry show We just saw Rodney Dillard and the Boys from Mayberry show at the 76 mall on hwy 76 in Branson. Boy, it sure was good! All the musicians were top notch and seemed genuinely kind and down-to-earth. Rodney's wife and daughter were delightful;they were good cloggers, too. We will be going back. The place was almost full. Rodney let the audience ask him questions about TAGS and our beloved stars. Rodney even did his famous darlin' boy look (when they were "all keyed up!"). We give it 2 thumbs up. "hey", from Branson. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Jul 2000 22:45:30 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #256 I may have this wrong, so if I do exuse my confusion at times. I was wondering if Andy's girlfriend in "Class Reunion", Sharon DeSpain, is played by Thelma Lou. This may sound crazy to some but it is a show I haven't seen quite as many times as others and the last time I saw it she looked like 'ole Thel. If I am remembering right she was the girlfriend that wanted more out of life than the small town of Mayberry. Thanks to whoever sets me straight. My seventeen year old son spent this past week at the beach with his girlfriend and her family. When he came home today he placed his suitcase in the laundry room for me to wash all of his dirty clothes. As he was going upstairs he turned and said," Mom, I'll be back down in a minute to get my schatchel, you know the thing I keep my clothes in, my valoose." Makes a mother proud! "You're a tidy person. Nobody leaves a wash basin the way you do." __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo!
