As much as I enjoyed seeing our beloved Barn onscreen once again, I wasn't crazy about this role and the language either. I don't consider you a prude nor myself; decency needs to be restored in the world today. If only all the media would take a cue from Mayberry! My minds went blank. What episodes was Elizabeth MacRae and Barbara Stuart in? >>> Barbara Stuart was Pat the "production assistant" in "TV or not TV," the one where bank robbers came to town posing as TV producers. I'll bet most of you didn't know that she was married to Dick Gautier, who played Hymie the robot on Get Smart. Elizabeth MacRae was Betty, the older sister in "Big Brothers," the one where Howard Sprague was supposed to be helping out a teenaged boy who was having trouble in school. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Aug 2000 13:41:48 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Andy's favorite song Hey folks, The other day I asked if anyone could name Andy Taylor's favorite song, based on the number of times we hear him sing, hum, or whistle it. The correct answer is a song that goes something like "...went to Cripple Creek to have a little fun, tore my britches to my knee." I guess "Cripple Creek" is the name of the song; however, I have heard another song by that title that didn't sound like this one. Andy never "performs" the song per se, which is what seems to have thrown some of you off track. Whenever Andy sings or whistles this tune, he always does it sort of absent-mindedly, while he is sweeping the floor, getting his fishing gear together, working on paperwork, etc. Watch for it in "Mayberry On Record" (episode #19). He does this song twice in this episode. Once all you trained noticers know what to listen for, you'll hear it in several more episodes. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Aug 2000 13:45:40 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: stumper Hi Gang, Here's a real stumper, in two parts. I'll give part two later, but here's part one: Which TAGS actor was a champion gymnast? By "TAGS actor" I mean a person, male or female, who appeared in at least one TAGS episode (not necessarily as a permanent cast member). To save time, I won't respond to the incorrect answers, unless you'd care to email me directly. If nobody gets it right, I'll give the answer (and part 2 of the question) in a week or so. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Aug 2000 12:42:40 -0700 (PDT) From: Mike Zimmerman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: IT'S GOOOOOOOD ! Now isn't the name of this song actually "There is a Fountain"? You are correct that the name of the song is "There is a Fountain" and Andy gives the incorrect name, at least according to my church's Baptist Hymnal. We sang it in church last Sunday, and afterward I commented to my wife that I had thought the name of the song was "Sinners Lose All Their Guilty Stains" because that's what Andy had said. Maybe it is called "Sinners ..." in other publications. mike jackson [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Aug 2000 16:56:37 -0500 From: "Michael L. I've always thought that Mayberry government was either quite different from where I live (Alabama) or the writers just didn't pay much attention to such details. I've been meaning to look into how North Carolina government is organized (and if possible, how it was organized in the 1960s) but I've never gotten around to it. I know in a lot of states it would be a constitutional violation to hold two offices like Andy does. My opinion is that the cottonballs were purchased to make those fluffy snowmen that people made with styrofoam balls. This is just an idea. Also to the fatman's wife...another episode where Gomer seems to know an awful lot about fixing cars is the one where Barney buys the clunker from Ms. Leich. Gomer could tell Barney everything he needed to fix it up. Another episode is when he repairs Mr. Tucker's car. I suppose Goober did give him some tips to take some of the work off of him. (I must not get out much, Huh) But anyways, I just got back from the Oakboro Music Hall Yep you guessed it, it's slap dab in the middle of a little town 30 miles due East of Charlotte called Oakboro, NC. Our very own David Browning (The Mayberry Deputy) was there with the music hall's own Darling Band, This was my first time seeing David in live performance, let me you folks, he's GOOOOOOOOOOOD !!!!!! The band was great also, they deserve their kudos also. If you've never seen David perform, you are missing out on something worth seeing. By the way this was the first trip for the 63 Squad car, it is up and running, with only a few things left to do, but it was turning heads, and creating smiles, laughs and hey Barney's. If you get a chance to see David perform, Go, just Go. Phil (sick as a dog, But having the time of my life) Fox looking forward to Mayberry Days- another first for me. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Aug 2000 11:31:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Mike Zimmerman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: AG's favorite song...Another good guess !!! Hello to all, I just had another very good guess about Andy's favorite song!!! We all know that Paul says it ain't Flop Eared Mule but... I believe it IS found in the flop eared mule song lyrics! Note the third and fourth line of verse one as sung by the big guy himself... "Flop Eared Mule" Use to have an old Banjo, It was all strung up with twine, *And the "ONLY SONG" you could hear ME sing was, *I WISH THAT GAL WAS MINE. Well, I wish that gal was mine, boys. I wish that gal was mine, And the only song you could hear me sing, Was I wish that gal was mine. Two and Two is Four, Spyda Byte I'll drive so I'll sit in the front seat. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo!
