Since I am off work this Labor Day enjoying the fruits of my labor, I have
had the opportunity to slow down and read the new members profiles. How
uplifting to know so many folks share our views on life. It is just too bad
so few places reflect the good morals and peaceful life as our beloved
Mayberry.I am so pleased to set a spell and relax. Thanks to TVLAND to make
this a truly wonderful Mayberry Weekend.

On the guest room controversy:

The Taylors had a guest room in "Gomer, the House Guest." It had
disappeared
again in the episode where Uncle Ollie & his family showed up for a visit
& Ollie
slept with Andy & the aunt (name?) slept with Bee.

Another Spirit of Mayberry show- The Cave Rescue. Andy & Helen crawl
back into
the cave so Barney can save face.

Subject: The SPIRIT of Mayberry

Many episodes embody the spirit of Mayberry, but here are my two favorites.
The first is "Man in a Hurry". He spends all afternoon pacing and making fun
of Mayberry and Cora and Maude Mendlebright, and their feet falling asleep,
Andy's apple peel, Barney's afternoon, and Goober taking his maw visiting.
But when Andy and Barney sing "The Church In The Wildwood" it brings back a
rush of memories to Malcolm Tucker and he finds peace. The second is when the
bully is taking Opie's lunch money and Andy sends him to school knowing he's
going to fight. The look they share and the hug Andy gives him as he goes out
the door REALLY pulls and my heart strings. Long Live TAGS!!

Hi Gang! In the episode about Aunt Bee and the butter ad egg man, Clara
Edwards mentions her 5-year relationship with Clark Cooper. We were
wondering, does Clara get married in a later episode? Is she still
Clara Edwards in the color episodes, or does her name change (again!),
indicating that she married?

I LOVE the scene in which Andy goes to Orville Hendrick's farm to talk
to him about his "relationship" with Bee. Did you ever see the actor
who played Hendricks appear in another episode or another sit com?

Thank heavens for the talent TAGS was able to tap into!

Since the subject of kissing came up..... have we ever seen Andy kiss any of
his girlfriends?? I have seen him kiss Aunt Bee on the cheek but has he ever
kissed his girlfriends? I really dont remember seeing him do that. Why
dont we all get under our buckets and think about it.
As far as Barney goes.... I would have LOVED to have been that lucky
person.

Hey Folks,

I updated the Mayberry, R.F.D. episode guide and added a link to it from the
front page of the TAGSRWC web site. I put the episodes in the order they were
originally aired. Thanks to WBMUTBB member Chad Palmer for raw material from
his former Mayberry, R.F.D. web site.

Also, Emmett's WAVs has been updated with more WAV files!! Andy, Barney,
Floyd, Aunt Bee, Ernest T., and Briscoe's pages have all had new files added.
They aren't marked "new" so you'll just have to browse around and see what
you might like to download. Thanks Emmett!!!

Well, I tried to get my husband to do the same thing, but he wouldn't say
obey, so I didn't either. My mom said, "Lisa, don't make promises you can't
keep." I think Dud just knew that obeying Charlene was the right thing to
do. ;)

I thought maybe Ernest T. had someone to write it for him...or it could be
just another of those delightful inconsistencies that gives us something to
think about! And someone asked about the Italian restaurant - that was
Morelli's. (You can sit right there and watch them pound the steak!!)

I haven't seen the episode in awhile, but I seem to recall that in "The Cow

wearing one set and the cow wearing two sets.

Hey to all the new members.......Welcome

What I've enjoyed, most, watching TAGS this weekend is Andy's facial
reactions when Barney talks. I never paid that much attention to it
before.......when Barney was talking I was concentrating on watching him.
I've found myself giggling as much over Andy's face as Barney's words.

Another thing I've noticed..........during the openings of the B&W episodes
Opie is walking on that ole dirt road like his feet don't hurt a lick. And
they probably didn't. But have any of you noticed that during the openings
of the color episodes, when Opie is much older, he steps kind of lively over
that ole dirt road? Each time I see one of those openings I find myself
saying, ouch, ouch, each time he takes a step. Takes me back to when I never
wore shoes much in the summer when I was a little girl and the soles of my
feet were tough but as I got older I didn't go barefooted as much so when I
did, I also stepped lively up the roads cuz the soles of my feet were tender.

To Jane E. in GA....
I didn't order Swing Tapes, Southern Songs or the Love Songs. But I did enjoy
those commercials much better than the one that was shown over and over and
over again back when TBS did a marathon.....Demi Moore in the movie
Striptease. I'm glad TVLand is showing "family" commercials during a family
program.

Hi, Beautiful Preserved People of Mayberry!

Who is that attractive woman that keeps appearing in crowds scenes, sort
of a female version of Johnny Coons, but she never says a word?

Here are some scenes where she has appeared.
In the episode where Barney almost arrests the entire town, when she comes
out of the cell, Andy says to her, "Hello, Nellie. That's a nice
dress." (Something close to that anyway.)

In the Newton Monroe episode, when Andy and Barney are beginning to run
Newton off for selling junk like Thelma Lou's fake fur, she and a man (her
husband?) were about to buy some Chinese bowls.

And when Barney is trying to find a wife for Andy, just before he sees
Andy with Helen, he and Thelma Lou spot this mystery lady walking by the
car, and as he goes to write her name down (it's something like Annabelle,
but I can't really remember), Thelma Lou tells Barney, "She's
married."

Also, when Otis drunkenly rode his cow to the courthouse, she was front
and center in the gathering crowd.

This lady is everywhere on TAGS. She wears her hair short with a curl to
it and the collar of her dress is usually turned up I'm just wondering if
anyone knows WHO SHE IS?

ALSO: Don't you all think that lady in the gift shop didn't exactly use
the best judgment giving a little boy stockings as a gift for a lady?
Call me old-fashion (and I am) but I think that gift is an awful one.
She should have shaved a few cents off the next highest price gift
maybe--but, I know, we couldn't have had the show if she did that.

Hello, TAGS fans!
As you all know, "Convicts at Large" is one of my top five favorites. I
consider it a flawless episode. But I do have one little question that
has been preyin' on my mind: if Andy hadn't shown up when he did, how
was O'Malley planning on getting home? Like, where was this rich guy's
car? Did he just call people up to give him rides out to his cabin in the
woods?

The above sentiments from Danielle and Jenny struck a note of accord in
this reader. Until 3 years ago, I worked a long-term job position full of
incredible stress and conflict. Each day I came home in total exhaustion
coupled to mental and emotional fatigue. I'm here to tell you that THE ANDY
GRIFFITH SHOW saved my life! As quickly as possible after work each day,
I'd collapse into my easy chair, rewind my VCR tape, and play the TAGS
episode automatically recorded earlier that day. Within the first 5 minutes
of the show, this wonderful natural tranquilizer would begin its soothing and
healing work. It was my escape, my therapy, and my reconnection to a time
long ago when life was a bit simpler, when people cared a little more about
each other, and when paramount stress evolved from little more than how Aunt
Bee's pickles tasted. Thank God for TAGS, and Long Live Mayberry!
