I know exactly what you are talking about, Kathy. My guess is, the closing
credits we see now were generate for the show's CBS daytime run. I have two
episodes I got from the trading circuit, and they both have all their original
commercials, etc. The closing sponsor ID actually shows the Andy and Opie at
the creek bank, getting ready to take their catch home. The closing credits
show the two walking away with their fish, and Opie drops one and goes back to
get it. But it also shows boxes of Post Cereal in the corner of the screen,
and I suspect that's why we don't see those credits anymore...

Just wondering if any of the trained noticers
has ever noticed Barney's badge is missing
from his shirt in Dogs Dogs Dogs.
He has it on until he takes the dogs to the field
when he gets back its gone, I guess maybe he lost it
in the field.

Hey, Big Maude!

Maybe O'Malley got a ride into town so his car would remain at home.
Perhaps that was the car Floyd and Sally took for groceries. I'd have
to
watch and see if there's one car or two. Anyway, most homes out in the
country would keep some gas on hand, don't you think?

Dear WBMUTBB members....

For anyone that knows anything about the history of Ron Howard and his
affiliation with TAGS, you would certainly know that his parents played a
massive role in his success as an actor, but more importantly, as a human
being. They raised him right and that reflects in his work today. Our
hearts go out not only to Ron and Clint, but to their father Rance also on
the passing of Mrs. Howard....

Have any of you ever wondered why every single woman in town (Helen,
Thelma Lou,
Peggy, Nurse Mary) all have houses, nice ones at that, and Barney can
only afford
to rent a room? Barney could have married Thelma Lou & moved in with
her.
Any explanations?

Hi all,

Just wanted to contribute my $1 for the 24/7 Andy Griffith station. I would
love to see one started. I wouldn't watch anything else. I don't think my
family would like that to much though. They would want to watch TV too, and
it would be a big mess. But, I'll give my $1 anyway.

Also wanted to pass on that I just found out that my cable company is going
to start carrying TV Land. (I guess they got tired of hearing from me), I
was about to go satellite, so I am once again going to be able to visit
Mayberry on a daily basis. I am more than happy. I just wish that they
would have got it before this weekend. I am so jealous listening to all
y'all talk about the marathon. Maybe next time I will be able to watch it
too.

Well I hope everyone has a Mayberry kind of day.

is it
different now? Didn't know who else to ask but to "Call the man!"
>>>

The original version of the closing credits did indeed show Andy and Opie
walking back up the road carrying their catch, while pictures of GF products
(Sanka, Jell-O or Post cereals) "popped up" in one corner of the screen.
Once the show went into syndication, GF was no longer the sole sponsor, so
they had to change the credits. They couldn't very well re-film the whole
sequence (since Ronny was older) so they had to replace it.

I remember Opie dropping that fish too! But I haven't seen it for a
long time. I think they must have cut the beginning and endings of most
of the shows to fit in a few more commercials! Any way.....those trout
can be slippery!

I agree with Paul Mulik......you always seem to pick up on a few new
things when watching TAGS. Has anyone ever seen a "Spanish" version of
TAGS? "Now that's a little trick that takes years to master!"

Daddy, you are sooooooooo right!! I do this all the time! To me, it's just
one more fun way to get my dose of Ange and Barn. Also, you can really focus
on the facial expressions when the sound is off. The episode "Opie Loves
Helen" is a good example. When Helen calls the courthouse after Opie leaves
and Barn realizes it was her on the phone with Ope just a few minutes
earlier, the look on his face is just priceless!! It cracks me up every time
I see it.
Speaking of cracking up, any of you ever wonder how many takes it took to get
the scene from the episode "Cyrano Andy" where Barn gets right in Andy's face
and says ...well 4 can play this game, buddy!. They are so close and that
scene is pretty long so I can't imagine how they ever got it on tape without
the hint of a smile or something. I like to watch that one without sound too,

I just re-watched this episode yesterday. In the opening, Barney is
stepping out of a building labeled "Snack Bar," not out of the
courthouse, so it was apparently at one end of town. What I find
interesting is that the town ends so abruptly and turns into a dirt road
that, in the next scene, appears to be way out in the country. Of
course, it makes sense when you consider it was really a Hollywood
backlot.
