OK the secret's out. RE:Janet K Anderson These photo's were for http://www.andyshomeplace.com but I was not ready to release the news until they were at the new site. I hope that you'll make a reservation, and that you'll mention my photos to the owners. When I stayed there, it was a real pleasure. I got there just in time to catch an episode of TAGS with Gober trying to impress his automotive school buddy in Raleigh at the Auto Show. Channel 2 out of Greensboro plays the show weekdays at 5:30PM. (Deputy Fife was once offered a Sheriff's position at -Greendale-). I setup and started taking pictures right away. Andy is fixing Opies tie on the TV. Later, TV Land had a little Monday night marathon and on another channel, Matlock had Don Knotts as a guest. It was a great impresion being in the house where Andy grew up. I read part of the biography and didn't realize how tuff he had it as a kid. Persistance can sure overcome obstacles when mixed with the right amount of Faith. It doesn't matter who you are. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the show from his old living room while eating popcorn and a couple of beers. (IBC RootBeer, of course). If you can never make it to North Carolina, then these photos will geve your some perspective of where Andy Griffith grew up. If you ever plan to visit Mount Airy, I highly recommend a night at the home. Tell 'um Rob sent ya! You can see one of my other shots (Mt. Pilot) at the Mayberry webring http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=mayberry;list I'll soon be posting panoramics of The Snappy Lunch, Floyd's, the Sheriff's desk at the Jail and the front of Wally's. I'll let you know when they're out there. Rob McGowan (Miss Darling, I LUV yew!) My mind might be playing tricks on me but I seem to remember during the last three years (the "color" years) seeing Andy, Aunt Bee and Goober also pitch Cool Whip and Birdseye's Frozen Foods. I have definitely seen the Jello Pudding spot from the Mr. McBeeVee episode in which Opie's imaginary horse actually makes an appearance (sticks his head in through the kitchen window, to Barney's shock). Now grant it...TAGS ain't just no ordinary sitcom.....rather it's "a daily dose of what life should really be about." Folks caring for one another...sharing a laugh.....solving the few problems that come their way...in a manner that hurts no one. So, on a day when the world's been rough to ya'...it's we folks that are truly "in the know" that realize all we really have to do..is pop in a TAGS on our VCR and slowly drift away to a place where kindness and honesty are the rule...rather than the exception. Did Andy give away any growing secrets about petunia's? Thanks, Jim >>> That comes from the episode "Aunt Bee's Romance." Roger Hanover tries to tell Andy that he isn't planting them deep enough, but Andy replies, "When it comes to pottin' petunias, I'm a giant. I've had folks come from miles around just to hear me talk on pottin' petunias." He doesn't give any actual advice, but at least we know that he doesn't plant them too deep. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 15:21:50 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: She just as much as said I was cheap! >>>Well, hoping not to break any Mayberry be-nice rules, I would say that one explanation is that Barney was very frugal and didn't think that a single guy needed a whole house when he stayed at the jail part of the time anyway (especially on those amber alerts or when Otis needed him). >>> In episode 42, The Clubmen, we also learn that Barney is in the habit of sending part of his pay to his mother every month. Melynn Nicole Mulik arrived at 8:17 Thursday morning (around army story number 17). She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Both Cindee and the baby are doing fine. For them that don't know, we have twin boys already, so taking care of one baby shouldn't be too much trouble (I'm the homemaker, Cindee works). Hey All. Sorry about that I accidentally pressed send earlier(thats probably funnier than the story) Well anyway, when my daughter(Elizabeth) pulled up in the driveway, my son and I were on the front porch. She says "Dad I think there's something wrong with my car,Cause I can smell gas" Now keep in mind, that even though I tried to raise her right she could never quite "get into" the AGS (I think the BW threw her)My son(Matt) on the other hand loves it and we watch it together all the time. Well when she said "I smell gas" I looked at Matt and he looked at me and then I spoke up and said "I smell gas!"then Matt said "I smell gas too!"Elizabeth just looked at us with a perplexed look on her face and said "I'm not talking about that kind of gas" We thought we'd die,but I managed to keep my composure enough to give her some good fatherly advice by telling her she was probably "Mashing down too hard on the accelerator...floodin her out". What a hoot! Hope you liked my story. Mike(Spyda Byte)Zman You give em forty tha'll take forty-five __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Other folks might have gotten their dander up because they were corrected. You have the right kind of attitude for Mayberry and I, for one, appreciate it. I just wanted to say (again) that the Digest is GREAT! I look forward spending a little time with my Mayberry friends. I love reading all your comments and feel a connection with you all that I don't have with non-Mayberry people. I'd also like to share with you all what the show has meant to me. In December of 1997, my family was given some very sad news...My mom, who was only 57, was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was the worst, most agressive kind and she was only given about 6 month to live. For those of you who may know about these things, she had glioblastoma mulitforme. Anyway, we were plunged into a dark and scary place where everything revolved around taking care of her. And we did so for the year and a half that she lived. There were few bright spots I can remember during that time, but the times we watched "TAGS" with her had to be the brightest. She loved the show and it always made her smile. One of her favorite lines was "Ernest T. , You're a low-down, pesky buzzard...doggone ye!" We could just walk in her room and say that line and she'd start smiling. So, you see, "TAGS" helped make the time she had left seem better cause when it was on, we were all in Mayberry for a while and didn't have a care in the world. I don't know if any of you can relate to this and you all may even think I am a little NUTSY! But there has never been another show that has meant what this one has to me. The spirit, the attitude, the people, the situations and most of all the comedy helped get me through the hardest time of my life. So when I say I am an over-the-edge fan, I mean it in the best way and it comes from my heart. Thanks for listening...
