Hey Paul,

Just as long as you don't go using any disappearing ink. They might think
you are cursed.

Congrats Paul and Cindee.

Have a Mayberry kind of day!!!!!

I remember Goober and one other person talking about the day the fire truck
collided with the garbage truck...it was apparently still a big deal years
later. I got the impression the truck was rushing off to somewhere.

Does anyone else remember a TV movie and/or a pilot episode in the 70's named
"Salvage One"? Andy Griffith starred as a guy who built an Apollo rocket out
of old NASA salvage parts - and the thing flew! I'm thinking this was a
failed series, but my thinking bucket isn't available right now so I may be
wrong. I know there are some TV addicts who can tell me all about this show.
Thanks. "Call the man!" Randy

Yes, twice in fact. One episode concerned Opie's running away to join the
Marines; the other was when Gomer came back to Mayberry on leave, only to
find that the Taylor family and Goober were away on a camping trip.

Many, many familiar faces from Mayberry were seen in episodes of Gomer
Pyle - USMC (too many to list here; there must be at least 100 of them), but
the only actors to play the same characters on both shows were Gomer,
Goober, Andy, Aunt Bee, Opie, and Sgt. Carter.

Speaking of TAGS cast members appearing in other roles, there are a lot of
them in Hitchcock's "North by Northwest," one of the greatest suspense films
ever made (I spotted about 8 or 9). Not counting "Return to Mayberry, the
two films with the most Mayberry actors are probably "The Ghost and Mr.
Chicken" and "Angel in My Pocket," with about 15 each.

Don't remember seeing an actual fireman unless there were some cleaning up
after Jubal's fire - would have to dig out that episode to be sure but I do
know they had a firehouse because one night they had a boiled dinner and
played cribbage and Aunt Bee tried to get Andy to attend. BTW - a boiled
dinner sounds terrible - almost as bad as grits and prunes - would rather
have fried catfish any ol' day.

The episode, "Hot Rod Otis" had the fewest characters appearing - Otis, Andy
and Barney . Which episode had the most characters?

Hey Bec!
I've studied on Barney saying "bread and butter" and if you notice he says
it as they are about to pass around a tree. I found this explanation in a
dictionary of American slang a while back. I'm not sure of the
details on why, but it is a superstition when people are walking together
and are separated by something (lamp post, etc.) to say "bread and butter".
And we know how Barny is very superstitious - so this must be why he said
it.

Speaking of bread and butter, I gotta go - time for lunch at the diner-
Three Vienna sausages, (heavy on the tomato puree), slice of bread and
butter on a paper dish. Not to mention a more than ample portion of
succotash. I don't know how they do it for eighty eight cents.

<<Mr. Schwump

Andy appeared on "GPUSMC" twice. The first was in season 2 on "Opie Taylor
USMC" when Opie runs away from home to join Gomer in Camp Henderson. The
second episode was in season 4 when Gomer returned to Mayberry for a surprise
furlough visit (I don't have the episode name handy) only to find Andy, Bee,
Opie and Goober out of town. At the end of the episode, Gomer leaves on the
bus, and sees the Taylors and Goober pulling up in front of the courthouse; the
characters only appear in that very short cameo. Trivia: Gomer asks why
Floyd's Barbershop has been replaced by Emmett's Fix-It Shop, and is told that
when Floyd retired he went to live with his daughter in Mt. Pilot after her
divorce.

Subject: Hey!

Hello Everyone!

I didn't realize that the little biography I wrote was going
to be published. Had I known, I would have tried to put in
something a bit more interesting!

Like I said, I'm a big TAGS fan or at least I thought I was
until I read some of your postings - some of you make
me look like a real amateur.

I got away with naming my son "Andy" without raising suspicion.
My wife didn't realize what a big TAGS fan I was at the time
but later figured out why I agreed to that name so quickly.
She absolutely wouldn't discuss Helen as a name for our daughter.
She did compromise and let me name the dog "Baxter McBeevee".

I, like all of you, enjoyed the marathon over Labor Day. I
was wondering earlier today if there's a chat group anywhere
talking about how great "The A-Team" was this past
weekend, ha,ha!! As for me, I'll gladly contribute to the
fund for the "All Andy, All the Time" station.

Thanks again,

Steve

Just want to thank all of you for being here when you are needed ! Will
let you all in on a lit'l show biz secret if you don't tell the world
that I admitted this . Just kidding. But the big secret is that you can
get addicted to entertaining people, to the point that when you're not
"On" you get depressed real fast ! Well I guess, being in Magic, I'm one
of those addicts . When I'm not out doing a show somewhere I usually sit
at home counting the hours until my next gig ! Well, that was before I
came across TAGS . Now, no matter how low I feel, I always find myself
smiling over the memories you folks bring back to me with your
remembrances ! As Andy would say, "Your Sure Are Fine Folks". And I
really don't care if the world knows I get a little low now and then,
I've got TAGS friends now !

Chameleon and a Clown Magically yours.

I live in Springfield, MO, and I'm very familiar with George's Steakhouse,
but I'm not sure about the George Lindsey connection. It does seem like I
heard something like that years ago, but I think it was largely dismissed as
an urban legend in these parts.

Anyway, if anyone's interested, I can take a picture of it so's you can see
it for yourself.
