I can tell you which way it really faced. It was facing the West. I've been
where the old 40 acres once was, but I don't know if that's the answer your
looking for.

I do want to thank everyone who has helped verify Goober and his "Judy...Judy"
impression for me. I apologize I forgot who it was who mentioned she's a Doris
Day fan....can you please tell me if "It Happened to Jane" will be shown on
Turner Classic Movies soon??? Thanks so much, and my very best to everyone in
Mayberryland.

Subject: TAGS on Enterprise

Hey Y'all,

Just wanted to let you all know about an experience I had yesterday to bring
up TAGS. I am stationed onboard USS Enterprise, and we have several
Chaplains on board. There are two Protestant Chaplains who conduct the
Sunday Worship services. Anyhow Chaplain McBeth was wanting to get a band
going. I hadn't gotten to his office to talk to him about it, and he
happened to be in mine last Thursday, so I asked him then. He ended up
asking me to play my mandolin and sing yesterday......I agreed, very unusual
for me as I hate to get up to play or sing in front of folks by myself.
Just to break the ice, I asked how many people had watched the Andy Griffith
Show. Most had raised there hand. Then I said, "for those of you who have,
you probably saw the Darling Boys, who in real life are The Dillards. This
song is an old Gospel song, which The Dillards perform, called "Somebody
Touched Me". I'm not the greatest singer, so if y'all want to sing along,
feel free to do so and if y'all want to clap along, it will help me out
also. The chorus is Glory, Glory, Glory, Somebody Touched Me, must have been
the hand of my Lord........Chorus goes the same way as the verse." Got a
lot of good comments about it yesterday am, and last night also.

I sent this out a while back and this is a reminder. I hope to see y'all
there. - Allan

The Trivia Contest at Mayberry Days is always a good chance to meet up and
we'll meet BEFORE the TAGSRWC meeting on Saturday. I suggest that we meet IN
LINE at the TAGSRWC Meeting while folks are waiting to get in. That should
be time for all the WBMUTBB folks to meet one another and talk some.

So, for Mayberry Days.

Friday, September 29th
WBMUTBB Meeting at the Andy Griffith Playhouse grounds following the trivia
Contest. (some time around 5pm) This is our longest chance to visit.

Saturday, September 30th
In front of the Downtown Cinema between the Professor Brower's Lecture & the
TAGSRWC Meeting & Dinner (some time around 4pm)

I would have to think that if you were stepping out of
the courthouse door, you would be facing North. When
Barney was giving Otis his driver's test with the cars
neither could fit into, Barney said that Otis was
approaching from the West, the West, the West, the
West. Otis got in front of Andy's desk and was going
in the direction of the cells. That would mean that
Otis was going West to East and toward the door would
be to the North.

Unless, of course, you actually said courthouse
drawer.

to the courthouse. This front porch conversation's
givin me kind of a headache."

I was watching an episode of TAGS the other night that I hadn't seen
before. I believe it fetured the debut of the fun girls. In it Barn dragged
Andy off to Mt. Pilot on the pretence of staking out a diner allegedly
serving beer. I thought this was interesting because I alway believed Mt.
Pilot was out of Andy's jurisdiction. Has Mt. Pilot always been in
Marberry county?

Harriet-

Do you know the direction from the epilogue where Opie, Ange and Barney are
facing the rising sun?

Well, Paul, here's one gal that would be so in awe that I would probably just
start stuttering or something equally sophisticated! So I guess I'd better
keep putting it in writing so that if Mr. Bullock visits our Digest, he will
know that Crystal M. in AL is his biggest fan!! He's just the greatest! He'll
probably never know how much joy he has brought to so many of us...anyone
want to second that notion???

Watching the town band goes to the capital (I never can remember its real
name) episode the other night, I caught sight of something I had never seen
before.

In a couple of shots of the band rounding the corner that would be right in
front of the church, the camera angle let's you see all the way up Andy's
street. At the end of the street is some sort of large 3-story industrial
building that looks like the street just runs into it. I don't remember
seeing such a structure on my 40 Acres picture, but it could always have
been something temporary.
