Subject: Mayberry Memories Book Signing

Thank you, Allan for posting the radio & book signing information. I went
up to see Jim this evening and had a nice visit. If memory serves me
correctly, Jim's schedule for North Carolina continues in Greensboro on
Friday at the Borders on Holden Road, Winston-Salem on Saturday at the B.
Dalton in Haynes Mall from 10a-12:30, and then down to Charlotte for a 3pm
signing (I can't recall where). Be sure to call ahead to verify time and
location.

If any of you live in those areas, I would encourage you to come out to see
Jim and get an autographed copy of his book - it is truly outstanding. If
you can't make it to a signing, shop at Weaver's online - Jim will autograph
those on request too.

Now if we can only find a publisher for Paul's book!

I realized after I already mashed the "go" button on my previous note that
"frisbee" must relate to Mr. Frisby, the moonshiner that Aunt Bee and her
crusadin' women almost kept in business. DANG!

That's 37!

Only in Mayberry can you have the Grand Theatre, Walker's Drug Store, the
BlueBird Diner, the Snappy Lunch Cafe, the church, Weaver's Dept. Store, the
Post Office and the Mayberry Bank directly across the street from the court
house. Irritating ain't it????? And.....think about it, if Otis lives next
door to the church, you can count his house too, and everyone else that
lives next door to the church. No wonder it's a friendly town, everyone
lives on top of each other...that is everyone but Floyd's, TV
Repair/Interner, Foley's, Bert's This and That, the lemonade stand, the
Mayberry Hotel, Wally's, and Andy's house. They seem to be the ONLY things
NOT across the street from the court house.

"Learn to love em!"
Harriet

I don't know about this particular cafe being called the diner, but in an
episode with Ernest T., I think when Ernest T. was wanting to join the army,
Barney arrests E.T, in the diner(?) for escaping from jail. They were not
where you could see the court house from that loacation. Sooooooooo, I think
the cafe you are referring to is not the diner. But not real sure,

Did you leave a quarter?

Don't forget one of my favorite scenes, when Andy and Helen kissed in her
living room while Barney and Goober watched from her front porch. "There
doin' it, Barn, there doin' it!" "Pipe down! You're not at a ball game!"

Subject: Barbar Pery's surgery

Hi all, I just wanted to pass on some information regarding Mrs. Barbara
Perry. I spoke with her today on the phone and her surgery is scheduled
for Dec. 12th. She will be having a total hip replacement at this time. I
want to thank all of you that have e-mailed me regarding Ms. Perry's
health. I will be more than happy to forward any cards to her from all of
our gang here on WBMUTBB, so if
anyone wanting to send her a card can mail them to; Kathy Taylor-B.Perry /
397 Taylor Rd. / Hartselle, Al. 35640. I did tell her that I had several
people to e-mail me wanting to know how she was doing and she was thrilled
to know that we all care so much on the health of our fellow TAGS cast
members. She also told me, she had never been treated more special than
she was treated in B'ham at the Mayberry Reunion held by Judge Laird. She
said she is still amazed that there are so many TAGS fans and the fact that
they are true and down to earth folks, just like the people we see on The
Andy Griffith Show. I will keep everyone informed on her condition and
progress.
Always, Kathy Taylor

The church was always diagonally opposite the courthouse (both buildings sat
on the corners of the same not-quite-square intersection). The other
buildings in town do seem to float from location to location in various
episodes, don't they? During the first season, Walker's Drugstore was
straight across from the courthouse; next year, the Post Office was. The
Diner usually seems (to me, anyway) to be across the street from the
Mayberry Hotel, which is three or four doors down from the courthouse (if
you were to exit the courthouse front doors and turn to the right).

Subject: number quiz

Hi folks,

Here's a fun quiz I came up with. I got the idea from a game that appeared
in GAMES magazine a number of years ago. Your mission (should you choose to
accept it) is to figure out what words are represented by the consonants in
the following phrases. For example:

11 P. on a F. T. = "11 Players on a Football Team," and
50 S. on the A. F. = "50 Stars on the American Flag."

Each numbered item below represents a quantity that has something to do with
TAGS.

1 B. in B.P.
2 C. in the M. C.
3 B. B. that O. R.
4 B. in the D. F.
5 C. in the R. B. S.
6 P. on A. B.
7 D. to R. a F.
8 Q. of A. B. P.
9 B. on T. B. S. A. K.
10 C. for a B. of P.
11 H. of W. to F. B. D. R.
12 M. from M. to M. P.
20 S. T. a B. C. D. at H.
35 C. for a J. of M. S.
57 P. that G. A.
76 D. C. of M.
150 P. of B.
400 N. B. in M. C.
780 D. O. on L. S. M.
3,000 B. in the P. L. on S. I.
7,000,000 D. W. of G. B.

I'll post the answers in 3 or 4 days. In the meantime, feel free to add
more to my list.

I am a Lucille Ball fan as well as a TAGS fan, and was recently watching The
Long Long Trailer, starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. About 20 minutes
into the film, guess who I saw - Howard McNear appears as a neighbor in the
trailer park. If any of you are closet Lucy fans too, or like old comedies,
I recommend this movie.
