Hey Paul! I'm still waiting to buy a copy! :-D I really do hope you find
a publisher for it one of these days. I expect to get my copy autographed,
as well!

Subject: Gomer & Mary Grace
It's on as we speak...ur-ah...I mean as I write! My 2nd favorite episode
(Opie the Birdman being #1) where Gomer agrees to go out with Thelma
Lou's cousin Mary Grace. This one made me fall in love my sweet Gomer! I
have it on tape but there's something about your favorite episodes
poppin' up....kinda like when an old friend who you've been meaning to
call turns up on yer doorstep!
I see something new or think about things in a different way every time
I see it. This time I see how Andy, Barney, Helen & Thelma Lou are so
hung up on looks. Shame on them! Barney said it himself when he told
Thelma Lou if she would take the time to get to know Gomer, that she'd
find a pretty swell guy under all that oil and and gas smell. Ever
think about how many really neat people you might have missed out on
because of an initial first impression? Maybe the person of your dreams
got past ya because a friend didn't fix you up because the blind date
candidate was a dog??
Thank goodness that Gomer and Mary Grace didn't think that way! They saw
past the packaging and into each others hearts! And in my own opinion,
neither one of them was truly hard on the eyes! Gomer was tall, trim and
had a big white smile. Mary Grace was a natural blonde with dark eyes
and a great smile. And she had a pretty good figure, nice and
voluptuous! And boy she could even keep up with Gomer whilst dancing!
I would be satisfied with my lot in life if I could always be the kind
of person that Gomer thought Mary Grace to be...nice, real nice!

Subject: the "diner" across the street from the courthouse?
Today our local channel showed a "longer" version of Jim Linsey's first
appearance.
When Andy and Barney went to the diner/cafe I saw things I had not seen in
a long time! First, it showed Andy and Barney walking to the "cafe" and went
into an actual building there across the street; It looked like (as they did
a far-away-long shot) that the court house was right across the street from
this cafe where Bobby Fleet and his band were, giving the waitress a hard time;
Was this cafe the one that was supposed to be the "diner" they were always
talking about? Today's episode showed a lot more than I remembered about the
opening scenes of Jim Linsey episode. Bobby Fleet acted like a jr. high bully,
and he treated the waitress awful!! The reason I ask about the cafe across the
street from the court house in the long shot, also was because sometimes I
see the CHURCH building across the street from the court house. Am I
confused...more
than normal? ha. thanks. hey, from Branson!

I agree that it's best not to discuss politics. I just have one thing to say
about it. I'M voting for Andy, but I think Floyd is generous to offer half
price on a haircut.

I loaned my tapes to a friend so I can't check it out, but I swear Andy never
kissed Miss Ellie (like a friend told me today), EXCEPT when Andy thought she
was gonna marry the new doctor. But it was on the cheek. I recall he kissed
Mary (the blonde), Peg, and Miss Crump. In the color version he kissed the
carhop who Goober liked. But Helen got most of the good. Let me tell you he
kissed that girl! And it was RIGHT ON THE MOUTH!

Yes Paul,
Andy has endorsed political candidates in the past,
I don't know about this year, but in the last election
I came home one day and checked the messages on my trusty old answering
machine and sure as I'm pecking out this here message, the voice said
Hi, I'm Andy Griffith and I'm calling to ask you to vote for (whoever it
was)
Man let me tell you, it excited me, even knowing that it was just a
recording
of the man himself, of course not wanting to make a big MOULAGE out of
it played it for anyone within earshot for nearly a week or two and Bragging
about
how Anj took time out of his busy schedule to call me. I still wonder
why they call
me a NUT.
A word of thanks to Henry I am a big fan of a lot of old TV and radio shows
from the past.
and also Big Band and other good music. I was just born a little late (1964)
to enjoy them in their
heydays, but I sure appreciate them nowadays.

Subject: TAGS sightings
Got to see a few TAGS alumni in a movie and primetime TV show over the past
few days. Elinor Donahue (Ellie Walker) was seen as a department store clerk
and Amzie Strickland (Barney's love interest, Miss Rosemary, and several
other characters)was at the opera in one of the special boxes next to that
of Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
Dabbs Greer, who was paired with Amzie Strickland played on TAGS as the
couple seeking to buy the Taylor home in "Barney the Realtor" was in the
Oct. 25 episode of the ABC sitcom Spin City playing the mayor's longtime
dentist. Greer was also recently seen as the aged representative of Tom
Hanks' character in the film "The Green Mile." Greer, who has had a long
acting career, is best known for his role as the reverend on "Little House
on the Prairie."

Subject: Snappy Lunch
I was finally able to access the news article about the sale of the
building in which the Snappy Lunch is located. It's at:
www.journalnow.com/news/local/local/northcarolina/snappy19.htm. I don't
believe we have to worry about missing those fabulous pork chop
sandwiches as Charles will just move the restaurant two doors down into a
building he owns if this Mr. Snow can't be reasonable. Sounds like he's
an opportunist (definition: a fella what pulls himself up by YOUR
bootstraps!). Happy motoring to Mayberry for all who hanker for that
sammich!!

There are several others I recognized, but I could think of at least
one specific instance for these.
Thanks!
