I don't own a CD or Tape of the VW Boys yet, so I was not aware that you are on the recording. I have only heard/seen it done live at [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2 and 3, and only remember Allan being on stage with the VW Boys at Meadowview 2, and didn't remember anybody else being on stage with them for the song at 2 or 3. Anyhow, congratulations for being on the CD. Speaking of Mayberry songs, Marty Warburton wrote on several years ago, and called Mayberry North Carolina. It is on The Marty Warburton Band CD "Headin' Home". (Pine Castle - PRC1053). It was sent to me by a friend because she knows I love TAGS, and thought I might enjoy and want to learn the song. Neat thing is, I joined a mailing list a few weeks ago, that Marty just happens to be a member of. I emailed him today, and he replied back that it was his favorite song that he'd written, and would be honored if I'd learn it. For those of you who are Bluegrass Fans, The Marty Warburton Band was the 1996 Pizza Hut Bluegrass Showdown Champions. For those of y'all who just heard this song for the first time (as I did) at Mayberry Days, you really haven't heard it all. When the VW Boys opened for the Doug Dillard Band, they did perform this song and it was wonderful (It made me cry!). It was so wonderful, I bought their CD with the song on it. On the way back home to beautiful West TN, I was even prouder I bought it. Mr. David's "commentary" in between each verse is priceless. It really did make the song even better! When you are listening to him talk during this song, you cannot help but see in your mind Barney Fife! It is little wonder that I have heard that Don Knotts said Mr. David does a better Barney than Don himself did! In fact, Mr. David, I wouldn't mind seeing you do a few more of these type things! Speaking of Mayberry songs, did anyone hear the guy in Col. Tim's Talent Show do the "Nip It In The Bud" song? It was great! I had given the man my address and asked him to send me the words, and he said he would. However, he must have forgot or lost my address. If you are out there, would you please email me? If you aren't, does anyone else know the words to the song? I 'ppreciate it! John Masters said he had a pretty good reputation in the northern part >of the state. So I'll ask again...Where is Mayberry?? I'm so upset! Nora forgot to pack my goosedown pillow!! I always thought it was a little odd to refer to the "northern" part of NC. Geographically, NC is divided into three distinct parts. From east to west (the white horse knows), they're coastal, piedmont, and mountains. For example, we speak of "western NC." Because of the state's size and shape, the "northern" part could be anywhere within several hundred miles - the eastern part would have relatively few similarities to the western part. I'm not being critical, I actually think it was kind of clever on AG's (or whoever) part. Of course, to be fair, Mt. Airy and surrounding areas are about as far north as you can go without hitting Virginia. Reminds me of what Brother Dave Gardner used to say: "I don't believe the north actually exists. I believe it's south of Canada." To Harvey Bullock, thank you once again for your interesting insights and memories; that is hilarious about you and Jack having a dueling list! It's something I'm gonna' definitely be on the lookout for in the future. I have a question for you too; was Santia Lucia a favorite of yours or Jack's since we got to hear Gomer sing it twice? Our beloved Harvey Bullock wrote in responding to a question about the Pageant episode. He informed us that in his original script it was the town of Mebane, not Saberton that was the home of Clara's sister. I have lived in Mebane,N.C. for most of my 45 years and have watched and loved TAGS since I was a child. I don't know about us being the fried chicken capital of the world, but I do know that Mr. Bullock can have the key to the city any time he wants! He definitely made my day! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! The Grinch cartoon is one of my very favorite holiday programs. I was shocked by the tasteless humor in the film. Wife swapping Whos, the Grinch falling with his face in the "sexy" Whos amply displayed bosom, getting the sleeping Mayor to kiss his dog Max's butt, and holding the mistletoe over his own rear for the Whos to kiss. For the most part, it was funny, and entertaining, but I expected more from our Opie. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, it's making ALOT of money and thats all that matters in Hollywood. Just my opinion, whats yours?
