Hey gang, how are the fish biting?
Well, I was just watching the episode where the "female" prisoner comes to
stay a night at the jail, and Barney and Andy fued over who gets to stay the
night. I'm not a HUGE fan of this particular episode, but it does have it's
funny parts. For example I laugh so hard I nearly cry every time I see the
scene when Andy and Barney flip a coin to see who gets to take Otis home, and
Barney quicly opens the door and shoves himself outside screaming. All you
see is a bunch of arms waving in the air. ha ha it's great!
But anyway, that's not what got my attention. I noticed how that episode has
one of my absoulute favorte scenes of all time in the series. RIGHT when it
opens, its at night, and Andy and Barney have two courthouse chairs pulled
outside. The door is wide open so they can hear the phone if it rings. The
sound of a cricket is near by. This has got to be, the absoulte most coziest
scene of all the episodes. In my opion at least. I'd like to hear all of
yalls.
What is everyone's favorite "cozy" scene ?

Pretty sure he was saying that it was unwise, not illegal. Probably trying
to save their relationship from all of that stress.

I was the one that posted a while back with the questions on the Darling's
Truck,
but don't remember gettin any answers.
I am pretty savy on vehicles, sooos I know It is a Ford Model AA Stakebed
Truck,
Now an A model Ford was like a 1/4 ton I think, but a AA was a Ton and a
Half
Most AA trucks had dual rear wheels, but not all, you could get one with
single
rears, The Darling's truck had single rear tires in the episode "The
Darling's are coming"
This could'a been due to the fact that they wore out the other two or it
only had two rears when they
got it.
I haven't found out what color it was yet, but I believe it was either
light gray or pale yellow or beige.
The year, I believe is a 29 or 30 due to the double front bumper.
I am looking for a truck to make a Darling truck also, and of course a
sikle with sidecar

I think it's not so much a matter of Andy not being legally able to teach
her, but rather a matter of the patience required to teach someone that you
live with and see so much outside of the "learning setting". Sort of a way
of avoiding a potential family feud! (Like not selling your used car to to
your best friend.) Hope that helps.

Hey Jason. Great observation!
I always thought that scene was funny! It never occured to me that Ange meant
that he couldn't teach Aunt Bee because of his job! It sounded like he was
just saying that relatives shouldn't teach relatives how to drive.
It never ceases to amaze me the stuff I learn from the Digest.

What Andy meant when he said "can't teach a relative how to drive" is
that it saves wear and tear on the relationship. I have always heard,
"don't let your husband teach you how to drive" Found out how true that
was when my husband tried to teach me how do drive an old car with a
manual transmission. He got quite upset when I let out on the clutch
too fast or killed the motor or got the gears hung up and he had to get
under the hood to straighten things out. My Mother is 103 years old!!!!
and she never drove again after my Dad tried to teach her how to drive
one of the first automobiles and she ran off the country road and hit a
post. EASE OUT ON THAT CLUTCH!!! Mary Grace in Georgia

Hey Paul, the announcer is saying the "Purdue University Marching Band"! As

The Purdue band has accompanied Jim Nabors at the Indy 500 for many, many

TAGS fans,
I think Andy's rule of not teaching relatives to drive is not a law,
but more like the rules he gave Warren ("never, ever mess with the ladies'
auxiliary!"). Just a good way to keep peace in the family.

Subject: Andy "not teaching a relative to drive"
In a digest comment, someone quoted Andy as stating that he could not teach
a relative to drive....
Maybe it was to protect his SANITY !! It is kind of like a husband and wife
wall-papering together.......It just doesn't work.
No relative should have to give driving lessons to someone close to their
heart;
Maybe Andy was hinting around about using the Sheriff's position to not have
to teach aunt Bee;
As LuAnn Poovey would say, "ACT- ually...........
Andy was refusing to save his sanity and his great relationship with aunt Bee.

Hey there . . .how are ya?
I was checking on IMDB.com (a very cool website) and under the "Mayberry RFD"
heading, a user commented that the show was back on TVLand. Is this true?
I am sorry I keep talking about RFD and spinoffs but I am always fascinated
with spinoffs and sequals.
On the same note, I have a very vague memory of seeing a cartoon with Andy and
Barney in it. No it was not one of those Don Knotts episodes of "Scooby Doo"
but it if I remember right it was a Public Service type thing that focused on
hunting safety. I think it was on PBS. I think Andy and Barney were
supposedley Duck Hunting, but I can not remember the dialogue or the punch
line. This would have probablley been over 15 years ago. Am I warped? Or
does anyone have any idea what I am talking about?

I was able to meet with Charles Dierkop and Joe Turkel (the bad guys in the
color episode OTIS THE DEPUTY) at the Hollywood Collectors Show over the
weekend. Joe swore up and down that he wasn't in an episode of TAGS until I
let him see his name in Jim Clarks new Mayberry Memories book. Then when I
got the Charles and Joe together, it jogged his memory. Also seen Jackie
Joseph and Sue Ane Langdon. Ruta Lee was a no show.
