Hi Y'all

My "cozy" moment would have to be toward the end of the first Class Reunion
episode when Andy and Barney sing the "Mayberry Un ion High" song. Now tell
me that YOU don't sig along with them every time that scene is on!

Subject: Symbolic Scenes

I was watching the episode the other day where Opie falls in love with Thema
Lou and noticed something I never have before.
- -In the scene where Opie is showing off in front of Karen by standing upside
down
against the wall, he asks her "Can you do this?" Right then it cuts to Karen
and she says "Yes, but I don't think it would be very lady like." It's a
very quick shot, but right as she says that, have you ever noticed the
Steeple of the Church is directly behind her. This is one of the first times
I've ever noticed such a "symbolic scene" in TAGS. Its doing a great job of
repersenting Karen's charcter.
So my question is.....can yall think of any more "symbolic scenes" such as
this?
Well,,,lots of luck to you and yours.

Hello to all my Mayberry Friends,

I caught the movie the other evening on HBO ("My Dog Skip"). Sure
enough as everyone
had said it was a real tear-jerker. My question to you all is what
part did Clint Howard play
        in this movie.

Thanks in advance for your help.........Bob Newman

How about that cozy moment last night when Howard had returned from St.
Benedict's Island? He, Andy, Emmett and Goob were all settin' out front
of the fillin' station sipping soda (didn't say what flavor) and enjoying
the peaceful serenity. Sure made me feel good. Aunt Bee of Orlando

I saw one of my favorite color episodes the other night. The one where Andy &
Helen go with Howard and Millie on the train trip. This is the one where Howard
and Millie are to be married.
Which brings me to an interesting thought. What is your favorite color episode?
Mine would have to be Dinner At 8.

I'm gonna go eat my third supper, then I'm gonna come back and kill you.

I grew up in a town a lot like Mayberry. When Uncle Ollie and Aunt Nora come
for a visit, it brought back a lot of memories about how Andy and Aunt Bee
make up the bed. They lay the pillows a length down from the head of the bed,
cover them with the spread and then roll them over. I guess nobody does it
like that anymore, but I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for listening! Kent

I just love the one where Andy, Opie and Aunt Bee are all sitting in the
living room and there is a storm brewing outside. It's the episode where Opie
asks Andy for a penny cause Nat Pike said a penny that had been struck by
lightening was worth six cents. Also in this one, Andy tells Aunt Bee she
"better get her nerves all tucked in"...I love that line!
I happen to be a big fan of thunder storms and have always felt extry cozy
myself when there is a good one going on outside and I am inside all safe and
dry. Unlike Aunt Bee, storms don't make me nervous at all!!

Odd Facts Known By Few
               from Barnard P. Fife

Hey, Andy. Listen to this I found in my 'Read a Fact' magazine. It says:

              ALL OUT OF SORTS
In printer's lingo, a 'sort' was a substitution - an upside
down M for a W or vice versa, an upside down p for a d.
If you were "all out of sorts," you were out of alternate
  possibilities.

Bet you never heard that have ya'?

Nope, never have. But you know something else.

What?

Readin' to yourself is good for your voice box.

Boy, I hate it when you're obtuse!!

Subject: My coziest place

This is in response to Mike's question about our coziest place. I was
thinking about Andy's bedroom that was decorated beautifully for Helen after
the engagement that didn't happen. Bless Aunt Bee's heart..she got the room
she had always wanted out of the deal gone bad. I have noticed before how
cozy that room seemed to be. So that may not be one of the coziest moments
but it sure was a cozy room. I can see myself snug as a bug in a rug in that
canopy bed.

Now for a different subject. On tonight's episode of "If I had a Quarter
Million", did anyone besides me notice the object on Barney's refrigerator?
When the bad guy was getting Barn and himself some milk from the frig I
noticed a strange object setting on top of the refrigerator. I can't say that
I have ever noticed it before and it got me to "thankn". The only thing I
could come up with is a very funny looking lamp..maybe? Oh well, just
something from a "trained noticer still in training".

Take Care Mayberry friends,

Hello everyone. I am recently new to this great newsletter and this is my
first time posting. I haven't seen anyone post a message about this, so I
thought I'd let you all know if you didn't already. I was extremely exited
when I "discovered" a website with episodes of classic tv shows, including the
greatest show of all time (TAGS of course). Just go to
http://tesla.liketelevision.com/ . You'll need Real player (found at
www.real.com ) and a decent internet connection speed. I watched my 3
favorite episodes- "The Darlins are Comin'", "Rafe Hollister Sings", and "Aunt
Bee's Medicine Man" all in one day. There are also other good shows on the
site, but I haven't stopped watching Andy long enough to check them out yet!

Was it just me or did I see "Fun Girl Daphne"
Jean Carson on "Tales from the Crypt" in episode
titled "Surprise Party" as the motel clerk lady ?

and....

Who was the laundry man whose truck Otis hid in in
episode "Aunt Bee the Warden" ?
He looks familiar for some reason.
Maybe like he's related to "Ernie" in
"My Three Sons".

Dear Mayberry friend and fellow Hoosier, just a note in response to your
excerpt below.

>Greetings Fellow Mayberrians,
I have been going to the Indianapolis 500 since 1981 and Jim has always sung

"Back Home Again In Indiana" last year I had the fortune of seeing him up
close as a friend who is a lap doner has V.I.P. passes and that gets us on
pit road and close to the celebs before the race starts.<

When I read this I knew exactly what you meant by "lap doner" bit I feared
others might think your friend was a "lap dancer". That would not go ever
to well in Mayberry, nor would it at the good Old Indy 500. A lap donor is
someone who donates lap prize money that the race car drivers can win in the
race. How nice of your friend to support our famed oval in that way.

Good for you, seeing our buddy Jim up close. I was there (at the track) one
day when he was signing autographs, but my schedule did not permit going to
see him.

Shazam, you are sure lucky

Hey Phil Fox...Briscoe Truck expert...what kind of car did Otis buy? (or
Paul or anyone else)

I just hate it when you get fasishus!

Subject: Focus on the Family

Many of you won't have the opportunity to see this, but I thought you'd
like to know. Focus on the Family (a fine ministry headed by Dr. James
Dobson) puts out a little monthly magazine, and we ministers get a
special edition with a pastor's family section. The February issue has
an article entitled "Wooing Thelma Lou, and Other Thoughts on Romance,"
by Chris Fabry, with a full page shot of one of TAGS fans' favorite
photos: Thelma Lou caught kissing Barney with lipstick all over his face.
It's a wonderful encouragement for men to keep romancing their wives
after they're married, and though old Barn was slapped a time or two, and
even caught a bloody nose from his "moves" on Thelma Lou, I thought they
generally kept a wholesome and healthy flame burning, probably even after
they finally tied the knot. Fabry's work, The Book of Romance, is
available through Focus on the Family (just a little plug for a good
writer).

Subject: scripts and Ideas, "The Mayberry Diner"

I know that the days of purity and innocence are long gone, but there are
many of us
that long for this again. When we turn on the TV and there is just the same
old sex , violence,
and cut downs of everyone's mental, moral, physical beings, it's getting
pretty boring.
But we like many many others choose to watch the very best in Television
viewing,
which comes from the 50's, 60's, 70's.. Shows that you don't have to worry
about if
your Preacher, or parents or even your children found out you watch.

I am trying to change the status quo, by finding a new sitcom with the feel
and innocence
and purity of TAGS and others of the days gone by. If you have any Ideas or
scripts that you
believe would fill the bill, contact me.

The Andy Griffith Show is such a great influence on america that people
want their business
to reflect it, I am proud to announce that the "Mayberry Diner" is now open
in Denver ,NC
it is on Hwy. 16 between hwys 73 and 150 there is also "Floyd's Barbershop"
and
"The Mayberry Beauty Parlor" next door to the diner. the diner is one of
those shiny
aluminum 50's style diners, and yes I done et there, and as Andy would say
"It's Goooooooood"
They are hoping for a grand opening sometime in March with old car clubs
and
yours truly will be on hand as Barney with my 63 squad car to meet and
great.

Allan , I am sorry if my pleas for help got too far off base, but I's about
to bust a gusset or somethin.

Phil
