Hi folks,
been enjoying TAGS for a long time now but one thing's been a bee in my
bonnet for some time, so I just have to ask. Long ago I happened to see
a movie starring, among others, our dear old Andy. What surprised me
though was the fact that he was playing the part of a real bad
motorcycle freak. He was a member of a small club made up of
professional people,(Doctors, lawyers or some such), and they got
together on weekends to ride their bikes. It turns out with sweet loving
Andy being a sadistic murderer. I was really shocked but then I realized
that this just shows what a versatile actor he really is. I am just
curious to know if anyone else has ever seen this movie. You wouldn't
believe that this is the same Andy that we know. Well, thank gosh that
he never pursued this type of parts. We all love our Sheriff Taylor.
Bless you all.

Hey gang.
this'll be quick. I was watching the episode last night where Gomer and
Barney take over the court house while Andy is on vacation.
I noticed something funny. In the scene where Andy has to get the handcuffs
off of Barney and Gomer, Andy says "...this front porch conversation is
starting to give me kind of a headache".
Right after he says that, Barney replies "Yes sir."
That's actually one of the only times I can recall where Barney says "Yes
sir" to Andy. Can yall tell me of any others ? thanks

We were talking about Cozy moments. I have a favorite scene. It's not very
cozy, but it almost makes me cry every time I see it. The show "The Bully".
When Andy and Barney are waiting for Opie at the courthouse, knowing he's in
a fight. Then the door swings open and there stands Opie with his black
eye. Don't you just love it when he says," A sandwich sure tastes better
with milk". And in watching TAGS on TV Land, I have noticed some scenes
that I hadn't seen before. Like at the end of that episode, when they put
the steak on Opie's eye. And one of my favorites is at the end of episode
where Brisco wants to marry Aunt Bee. She calls him over to the car and he
asks Andy if she's got that spoon in there with her. Well lots of luck to
you and yers!

Hey ya'll! Last nights TV Land color episode really
got to me. The one about the choir robes. At the end
when the choir was signing so angelic in their new
robes and Howard looked upward toward heaven and said
what he said, I cried like a baby and I don't care who
knows it. And thursday nights episode was also
touching at the end when Aunt Bee was the "new lady"
who was going to cook for Andy and Opie and she was
standing there in the kitchen door as they walked
away, the look on her face and in her eyes was so full
of love.

>>>On tonight's episode of "If I had a Quarter Million", did anyone besides
me notice the object on Barney's refrigerator?

That's actually part of the refrigerator (the condenser, maybe?) That's the
way they built them in the good old days; the "cabinet" part was basically
the same as the traditional ice box, and they had to put the electric parts
somewhere, so the top was the natural choice.

Hi folks,

I know most of you won't be able to take advantage of this, but if any of
you who live within 100 miles or so of Joplin can get a copy of The Big
Nickel (a local advertising paper) there's a feature story about me and my
Mayberry collection in the January 25th issue. It's basically the same
story that appeared in The Ozarks Mountaineer a couple of years ago.

The writer has informed me that there's a chance that this same story will
appear in Family Circle in the next few weeks. She's a freelancer who
pitches stories to several different publications.

Hey everyone,

I have thought of two more "Cozy" moments. One of my all time favorite scenes
is when Andy and Barney are working late doing inventory and Barney decides to
go to the dinner to pick up a couple of sandwiches. What a great moment!
Another would have to be the scene (and I cant believe I am saying something
good about a color episode) is during the summit meeting and the two officials
start "raiding the ice box."

Anyway, just a few thoughts.

Subject: Color episodes and other ramblings

Hey everybody,

Just wondering if anyone else has had sort of a change of heart about the
color episodes since TV Land has been running them. What I'm getting at is
that I was never a big fan of the color episodes so when TV Land started
showing them a few weeks ago, I was naturally disappointed. What I have
since learned is that I was judging the color episodes without ever really
giving them a chance. Over the past few weeks I have come to realize that
while they are not black and white and while Barney is no longer around,
they are still TAGS and they are still wonderful TV (something you don't
find much nowadays). I think maybe now I am finally seeing butterflies
instead of bats. I think the color episodes gave characters like Goober a
chance to shine. And if you'll pardon me for rambling, I'll talk for a
minute about Howard Sprague. Hope I'm not violating a rule when I say that
he was never one of my favorite characters. But since really watching the
color episodes, I have come to like him a lot. You know, he was really a
prince of a guy. And talk about cozy moments, last night when he went out
of his way to make sure that the church foundation got fixed and the ladies'
choir still got their robes (not to mention keeping Andy out of a jam),
well...like I said, prince of a guy. Finally, just wanted to bring up
probably my FAVORITE cozy moment (there are so many, its hard to choose).
But my favorite is when Ernest T. gets his diploma. He was so proud, yet so
humble and thankful. I guess we could all learn something from that. Why
even ol' Barn got choked up. Anyway, sorry for rambling, but thanks for
listenin'.

PLEASE DO NOT send messages to both [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

This causes double posts. You only need to send to one of the two addresses.

To send a message to the WBMUTBB Digest you can send to and ONE of the
following email addresses:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

PLEASE only send to ONE of them. I recommend the first one but any of the 3
will work. DO NOT SEND TO MORE THAN ONE, PLEASE.

If you send the same message to all three, it would be posted 3 times. It's
not too fun to read the same message 2 or three times.

Thanks folks!!!

<<What is your favorite color episode?>>

"Howard the Comedian." Howard Sprague's comedic monologue was perfectly
delivered, and hilariously written ("telegraph, telephone, and tell Floyd"
as Mayberry's three types of communication remains one of my all-time
favorite TAGS lines).

Well, an old guy like me knows that's the old heat exchnanger / compressor.
You know, the thing what makes it cold on the inside of the fridge.

Askin' a question like that betrays your youthfullness.
* sigh * Wish I had some youthfullness left to betray.

Lots a luck to you and yours.

<< The Andy Griffith Show is such a great influence on america that people
 want their business
to reflect it, I am proud to announce that the "Mayberry Diner" is now open
 in Denver ,NC
it is on Hwy. 16 between hwys 73 and 150 there is also "Floyd's Barbershop"
 and
"The Mayberry Beauty Parlor" next door to the diner. the diner is one of
 those shiny
aluminum 50's style diners, and yes I done et there, and as Andy would say
 "It's Goooooooood"
They are hoping for a grand opening sometime in March with old car clubs
 and
yours truly will be on hand as Barney with my 63 squad car to meet and
 great. >>

This is incredibly cool. I lived in Stanley, on Highway 16, for a couple of
months last fall and we often drove past that silver diner...my boyfriend is
a chef and he thought it would be the dream place to work, so close to home
and so retro looking! Think they're gonna need another chef??? I can't wait
to get back to NC so I can see it open for business. Thanks so much for
posting this information - now I have to go email it to my boyfriend!
