Speaking of Gillie Walker's car...
What kind of car was that? I've been happily motoring for 42 years and i
simply do not recognize the make, moder or year. It has been driving me
crazy, although some people say that would be a short trip.

Dennis Rogers, who is no kin to Bob Rogers but does work just down the
street from the famous corner room at the Raleigh YMCA.

I think they called him "Rogers", which was his last name.

Subject: Barney's littering

Since the subject has come up about Barney littering, I thought I'd throw
this one in. In "Barney's Sidecar" Barney also litters. It's in the scene
where the men unhook the sidecar from the "motorsickle". After Barney takes
off, leaving Andy behind with the guys all laughing, Barney rides back up
and gets off of the motorcycle. He then tells the guys to disperse, and he
yanks a cigar out of the mouth of one of the men. The he throws it to the
ground!! Tsk, tsk, tsk...Barney litters again! :-)

Every time the subject of these little inconsistencies and such comes up,
I'm reminded of Paul M's book, and I'm still hoping he gets it published
some day! He was collecting these little nitpicks about three or four years
ago to publish, and I haven't forgotten about it, Paul! :-)

Don't forget old Don, Helen's friend. He is the guy that greeted Andy at
Helen's door eating a sandwich and talking with his mouth full.
Come to think of it he kind of annoys me too.
And wouldn't know his name would be DON?

And take that gun outta your mouth!

I just saw the epilogue for "Opie's Hobo Friend" for the first time ever on
TV Land last night--Barney's song ("Oh, My Daring Barney Fife")--and I
couldn't stop laughing! Does anyone have the words?

Has anybody else noticed that when Andy 1st encouters
the Darlings (while they're refilling their radiator)
you can clearly see a mic cord trailing out of his
right pant leg and leading across the street?

I just wanted to say that I watched the movie "Picinic" last night on AMC.
I'm sure most people will remember the connection between the movie and TAGS.
It's where Goober is imitating Carey Grant and Andy tells Goober that Carey
wasn't in "Picnic" that it was William Holden. Goober says "I can't do him,
he talks like everybody else". Anyways, the movie was great and had I not
heard it mentioned on TAGS I probably wouldn't have tuned in to it. There
were several Mayberry connections that I noticed. Elenora Poltus, Barney's
voice teacher played a part in the movie and the song Barney has hummed a few
times, "Juanita" was also in the movie. The town itself seemed like Mayberry.
Just wished somewhere in the movie I could have seen Andy and Barney walking
the streets. :)

Bye for now...jen from bama

Happy Ed's Refrigeration Day! It was exactly 50 years ago, on March 3, 1951,
that a feller named Ed fixed the freezer on the Taylors' porch. Makes you
think.

I would have to say that Ernest T. got on Ange's nerves and he would've liked
for him to leave town. I mean, I absolutely LOVE Ernest T., but that rock
throwin' and window breakin' has got to get on your nerves!

Also, the Fun Girls. Andy wanted to get rid of them because they always got
him and Barney in trouble with Helen and Thelma Lou!

"Ernest T. Bass, you get in here!" "The next rock you throw, I'm gonna put you
UNDER the jail!"

Someone wrote about the background music of TAGS. This lead me to
thinking about something else that has been on my mind for sometime. Why
did the producers, directors, and/or editors include background laughter
on the episodes? If anyone has read or heard the reason, I would
appreciate a post.

like it's the kiss of death to be related to Ron Howard>

Speaking of the kiss of death - I never want to go on vacation
ANYWHERE the same time that Ben Matlock is there...

This is just a question - non-trivia - for some of you who pay alot
of attention to the music on the show. Is it the same song playing
on the radio in the episodes with Uncle Ollie and the Cave Rescue??

Rafe Hollister?

I was watching a black and white episode on TV the other day and I saw Rafe
Hollister tending to his moonshine, but they didn't call him Rafe Hollister,
his name was Ben Sewell (forgive the spelling). Does anyone know what's up
with this?

issues and can live without that.

Hey Joe, what about Don? (Wouldn't you just hate 'im? - Peggy's words)!
And those high-falutin' folks involved in Helen's books who ignored him.
I vaguely recall hearing some of the same music from Mayberry on Gomer
and in that Angel in My Pocket movie of Andy's.
As for Barn's littering in that Bob Rogers episode, I think he tore it up
and tossed it just for emphasis and being dramatic for the moment; I'm
sure he picked it up later.
Just my thoughts, Aunt Bee of Orlando (anticipating next weekend's
marathon)

We just spotted some beloved TAGS characters on the Gunsmoke-a-thon.
"Goober" played a mean and not too smart trouble maker. Playing one of his
sidekicks was another meanie, played by our "Dud Wash". "Mr. Darlin'" was
playing
the town "Doc". "Goober and Dud" got "run outa town" by Festus. It was fun
watching our beloved TAGS characters stretching their aacting muscles in other
roles.
