Subject: Andy Jr.

It's my understanding that Andy Jr. was conveniently "forgotten" (that is,
omitted) by the writers of "Return to Mayberry" since few people remembered
his birth on "Mayberry RFD." I think little Andy (who would've been a teen
during "Return") would've added a nice touch to the reunion movie,
 though....
  >>
Have I been in the cooking sherry again? I thought that in Return to
Mayberry, Helen said Andy Jr was having to study for exams so he stayed
behind in Palookaville or where ever it was that they lived.

YO,
In the episode where the temporary deputy (Bob
Rodgers) comes to town from the attorney generals
office to learn about law enforcement (I call it the
wbmutbb episode) At the very end Barney writes Bob a
ticket as he's getting ready to leave town, just to
teach him a lesson. I believe I saw Barney tear up the
ticket and then throw it on the ground! Did anybody
else notice this. If we were there we could have made
a citizens arrest ;)

Mike,..

My wife and I always discuss Barney's littering. My wife says Andy should
have written him a ticket.. that would have been a funny ending. By the
way,.. the scene you are talking about is an epilogue and unfortunately a
lot of local stations cut those out in favor of more commercial time.

Hey Fans: This is in reply to the Andy show about Bob Rogers, Yes I also
noticed that Barney wrote a ticket for Bob and then tore it up and threw on
the ground right in front of the court house, I tryed to see where it was
when the car pulled away from the curb, I think it was down on the side next
to what was supposed to be the curbing. Some example of leitting huh? "Well

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the end credits, the lady speeder
(i.e., Ms. Crowley) was played by Jean Hagen. Was she not the same actress
who played Danny Thomas' first wife (prior to Marjorie Lord) on 'Make Room
for Daddy', of which coincidentally TAGS became the first spin-off from?

Just looking to get some "Official Verification" about this...

Did anybody else notice that at the beginning of the show his name was Bob,
then they called him Roger, and at the end they called him Bob again! And I
also noticed that Barney tore up the ticket and threw it on the ground!
Litterbug!! I was also wondering about something else--I wonder if they kept
the out takes from the show? Boy, wouldn't that be something to watch. But
I don't see how it could be any funnier than the show itself! (Is funnier a
word?)

I've always seen that too. It's so weird that they would have him do that.
There are countless episodes where Barney goes off on someone for littering.
(maybe thats a joke of it....just very hard to detect...haha) i doubt it.

Lots of luck to you and yours

hey y'all!
I heard on the TV this morning that Ron Howard is 47 today! which is neat, b/c
we are the same age!!! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RON! maybe he'll have a party and
walk over to the food table and get him some of those "cool-lookin' chips"!

On the subject of Barney's car... did y'all notice that Barney is driving a car
in the episode about the runaway kid? (You know, George Foley, I mean
"Tex")...he parks on the wrong side of the road in that episode, too, I think,
in front of Andy's house, when he runs up on the porch to show Andy his
"sketch" of the lost boy. Was this Barney's second car? or did he have a car
before he bought the one from Mrs. Lesch? Maybe he borrowed one from Floyd...
'cept Floyd never puts gas in HIS car, now does he? :-)

which reminds me of the escaped women convicts episode... it cracks me up that
Maude, Sally and Naomi are all wearing those high heel pumps with their prison
dresses (or are those Camp Fire Girl uniforms?) lol

Subject: Bucket thinkin' question

Hey folks...Had another bucket-head think, and came up with this question.
Now listen carefully, because I don't want us to break rule number two here:
remember
"Do not talk negative about TAGS characters because it takes a lot of
scrubbing with nice words to erase the bad feeling caused by negative talk"
Even though main characters bugged him at times such as Warren and Goober
and even dear Aunt Bee (call the Man!), I'm looking for folks whom Andy
would have wished they leave.... "and I mean Mayberry" or at least leave
him alone.

Who do you think were some of the people who annoyed Andy Taylor the most?
(not that they annoyed any of us.)
Here is my starting point.
1) Roger Hanover (Aunt Bee's old friend who came for a visit)
2) Uncle Ollie
3) Melissa and her Daddy (husband)
4) Frank (and that blamed gradin' manual)
5) Mavis Neff
6) That new boy with the bicycle
7) Lydia Crossthwait (two-pointer if you count her as Mayor Pike's
warbling daughter also)

I know that Andy was as good as gold to people, but you could just tell when
the writer's wanted us to see someone as a pain.

PS: If that lady speeder was going 70 MPH....how did Andy catch her when
he Floyd, Barney and Opie all still had to get in the car?

WINSTON is clearly seen through Andys white shirt pocket in at least one
episode, if my memory is correct.I'll be in touch soon with the episode .

You'll just have to trust me on this till I go back to the tape.

Subject: book reviews

All;

I just finished reading "Barney Fife and some of my other
favorite characters" by Don Knotts. It was interesting but
I finished it a little sad. I had hoped that Don was like
Barney in his lack of bravado, humble charm etc. He did
start out that way - humble beginnings etc. But it seems
that Mr. Knotts is much like Barney when it comes to name
dropping and inflating some of his accomplishments (that's
the sad part - he couldn't admit that leaving Mayberry, to
make second rate movies, had been a bad idea.) There is
some foul language (not too foul) scattered through out too
(which we know Barn would never use) which was
unneccessary. I personally think that Don did his best
work as Barney, and not in the movies. It also showed how
things that he developed in this life found their way to
TAGS. He does have fond things to say about Mayberry and
Andy Griffith but I went away with the feeling that, much
like Barney, he was an also ran who tried to make it bigger
than he was capable of alone.

One reason most of his films had a Mayberry flavor was
because he employed TAGS writers (and Andy himself at one
point) to write the scripts for him! Explains Elenora
Poltus yelling "Karo, Karo, Karo" in the Ghost and Mr.
Chicken! :-)

On the other hand, I also got Mayberry 101 which is great!
It gives some behind the scenes info which'll make you
equal to the task of keeping up with Paul, as far as
Mayberry trivia goes!! :-) It is a keeper!

take care,

Rev. Joe

Hey Folks,

I noticed something while watching the episode "Opies Hobo Friend" tonight.
The background music near the end of the show was the same background
music heard near the beginning of the movie "No Time for Sergeants" when
Will Stockdale was fixin to leave home.
Anyone ever notice something like that happening before?

I laugh right out loud every time I see that part in 'Ellie saves a female'
where Ellie sprays perfume on Andy, and then Barney teases him. After asking
what the perfume is called, Barney says something like, "Midnight Madness
Zaa Zoo Zaa". Just wondering, is this a "Barney expression" or have other
people used the expression 'zaa zoo zaa'? I've heard of 'Ooh la la', and
'Lah dee da' but never 'zaa zoo zaa'!

Hello to all...
I was watching "Opie's Hobo Friend" last night and noticed something at the
end I've nevere noticed. After Mr. Dave is arrested for stealing Aunt Bee's
pocketbook and Andy tells him he happens to know that it was a Pocketbook
that she had thrown out, he opens the cell and lets him out. What I'm
pointing out is that when he put the key in the cell door lock it doesn't
look like he turns it to open the door. My question is...were the locks real
locks or were they just latches that could be opened by pulling or pushing
hard enough? I know this ain't big but I was just wondering...
