Subject: Spotlight needed
Greetings from Mayberry, Michigan.
Wallys says my squad car should be road worthy pretty soon. She's a 63. I'm
looking for a spotlight that would work through the front fender. If anyone
knows where I might be able to find one, give me a shout at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] . Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
In watching the episode where Otis' brother Ralph drops in on him, and turns
out to be a drunk, there's a scene where Ralph locks himself into the
Mayberry jail. Otis stands there and gives him the 'what-for' and I noticed
how long that scene was with absolutely no laugh track. Probably one of the
longest dramatic scenes in the series. Off hand, I can only think of one
other -- and that's in Man In A Hurry, when Mr. Tucker finds himself singing
Little Brown Church on the porch. Does anyone remember any others?

I hope everyone is enjoying the marathon weekend as much as I am. We've had
the added joy of hosting true TAGS fans at our B&B this weekend as well. We
sat around, watched the marathon with a pan of cashew fudge, (out of Jim
Clark's cookbook) pretzels, memory sharing and lots of laughs between us. Out
here in Nebraska we don't often get the chance to be with other Mayberry
fans, so it was a real blessing. I even raised their wattage at no extra
charge!
Good Sabbath,

Subject: Best Guest Star Award
With all the Awards shows going on right now, I'd like to nominate an actor
for best Guest Star performance on The Andy Griffith Show. John Qualen
playing the part of Henry Bennett in "The Jinx." And if I were to show a
film clip, it would be of that moment when he comes into the barber shop, and
tells everyone he's leaving town because people who used to be his friends
are now avoiding him. He's brimming with emotion, and his voice quivers as
he speaks. You can just tell his heart is broken. It breaks mine just
watching it. What a standout performance. Who do you think his competition
would be?

Hey gang, how's it going? Hope yall are all enjoying the marathon.
Ya know its so wonderful to be able to just turn on a channel and no its
showing TAGS no matter what time of day. Wish there was a channel that did
that all the time. haha
Ya know, I've said before how I dislike the TVland versions of TAGS because
they cut out SO much (EX: the selfish Giraffes line)...but I've also seen a
lot of scenes that I've never noticed before. Like...in the episode where
Barney gets kicked outa Mrs. Mindlebright's house, they showed a scene of
Andy helping Barney bring in some materials for his new place in the
courthouse. BUT, they cut the scene of Barney showing Thelma Lou his new
place. Thats made me learn something. I think that while in production of
episodes, they would sometimes shoot 2 differnt kind of scenes to reveal a
piece of information. Just as in the Mrs. Mindlebright episode. They needed
someway to reveal that Barney had moved into the Courthouse, so they shot two
differnt scenes. One of Andy helping Barney move some stuff into the room,
and one of Barney showing it off to Thelma Lou. Then they just pick which
one's more funny. The reason i believe this is because I know I've NEVER
seen BOTH those scenes in that same episode.
Well,,,,,if I've not TOTALLY lost you by now, thats good. haha Hope someone
else gets what I'm talking about. Well, enjoy the rest of the marathon!
Lots of luck to you and yours
Mike

I hope I don't break any rules here, but I felt I needed to pass this along. I
just heard from some friends who attended "Norman Is That You?" in Kansas City
last evening. They said there was a stand -in in his place because Mr. Knotts
is sick in the hospital with the flu and pneumonia. I know we will all want to
keep a special good thought for him for a speedy recovery.

Hey Folks,
Because of the problems we were having with the software that runs the
WBMUTBB Digest since Wednesday I think most of you missed Issues 74-76 of the
Digest.
Here's what I'll do, I'm going to put those issues on the internet where you
can read them. I'll remove them in a few weeks so read 'em now if you'd like.

http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/vol3num075.txt

You should be able to go and read the Digests you missed by going to those
URL's above.
There are some repeated messages as I tried to get the Digest working but I
thought most of you might want to see what you messed for a few days.

eastern North Carolina, but presently reside in west Tennessee. I am married
and have 2 beautiful daughters. My wife and I are both college graduates,
she's a teacher and I am a supervisor for a major food company. My oldest
daughter is 6 years old and she loves to watch TAGS with me. I have recently
began to collect TAGS memorabilia, but my collection is thus far pretty
small. Most of what I have obtained I got from ebay. If anyone has
suggestions on how to get good TAGS collectables, please let me know.

COMMENTS:
I was eight years old when TAGS first aired in 1960, growing up on a farm in
southcentral KY and near small towns, similar to Mayberry in many ways. But
my family didn't have a TV until 1963, and I can't remember when I first
watched the Show. I didn't really become a fan until many years later as an
adult, watching reruns.
This year, the last week of January in fact, is special because while on a
business trip to NC I stopped off for visits to Mt. Airy and Pilot Mountain.
I had breakfast at the Snappy Lunch, and stopped in at Floyd's City Barber
Shop. Unfortunately, I didn't need a haircut at the time, but I thought
later that I should have climbed into the chair and asked for a "Floyd's
Special" (i.e., no actual cutting--just the sound of scissors behind the
head!). It would have been worth the price of a haircut, anyway! I also
walked up and down Main Street, and visited several of the stores. As you
might imagine, at that time of year it was pretty quiet in town, but still
worth the trip. Everyone I met was warm and friendly. Oh--and I stayed the
night before at the Mayberry Motor Inn, and I can highly recommend it!
Sorry--hope this isn't too long!
