This first answer is ALLEN MELVIN, he is the guy who played all the
different
characters on TAGS. Mr. Melvin also played SGT. Hacker on Gomer Pyle,
U.S.M.C.
and Sam on The Brady Bunch, ( he was Alice's boyfriend).

Mary Grace, "she's nice real nice", was Thelma Lou's cousin. Her last
name on TAGS
was Gossage. Her real name was MARY GRACE CANFIELD. Ms. Canfield also
played Ralph Monroe on Green Acres, she was a "handyman" with her brother
Alf Monroe. He also played on TAGS, in one episode.

Okay now a question for everyone. Where did Frank Sutton go to high
school? He
played SGT. Vincent Carter on TAGS and Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. This is a hint
it was in
  Nashville, TN.

Mr Schwump,

What I found was just a regular two-door '64 Galaxie. What I have located
*since* then is a place to order a kit with special parts that does, indeed,
become a Mayberry squad car. It is a 4-door '63 Galaxie and it comes complete
with decals, light, etc. It's a little pricey, though...about 44 bucks.
It's available at...

Just look under AMT/Ertl models.

It was Allen Melvin who played all those roles you mention. He also had a
recurring role as SGT HACKER on GOMER PYLE, USMC where he played the mess hall
SGT.

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME WRITING. I AM A HUGE FAN OF
TAGS AND ANDY GRIFFITH AND DON KNOTTS. I COLLECT
THEIR MOVIES AND I HAVE ALL 249 EPISODES OF TAGS. IN
RESPONSE TO A QUESTION FROM TOM DENTON DATED 5/12/01,
WHO IS THIS GUY? HIS NAME IS ALVAN MELVIN. I DON'T
KNOW HOW MANY EPISODES HE WAS IN. HE ALSO PLAYED SAM,
THE BUTCHER ON THE BRADY BUNCH SHOW AND SARGENT HACKER
ON GOMER PYLE. IF YOU WANT TO READ A FEW GOOD BOOKS
AND LEARN MORE ABOUT TAGS AND ANDY AND DON READ "THE
ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW BOOK" BY KEN BECK AND JIM CLARK AND
"THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" BY RICHARD KELLY AND ALSO
"THE ANDY GRIFFITH STORY" BY TERRY COLLINS. I BELIEVE
THEY CAN ALL BE PURCHASED FROM WEAVER'S DEPARTMENT
STORE.

I THINK I'LL GO DOWN TO THE FILLING STATION AND GET A
BOTTLE OF POP.

Lots of folks type little one liners at the end of their
notes here.

I was wondering which one liners really crack you up, or at
least make you smile. The kind of line that requires no
other information. You know who said it, what the
circumstances were and you can even "see" the characters
saying it!

Hey All,

First, this one is for Paul, the episodes you said had their copyright
expire, are they still that way? Are they "Free Game" if you will for
reproduction, or did another company pick up the rights?

Second, speaking of the inconsistencies in shots, remember when old "Blue" is
asleep on the sofa in the back room. When Andy and Barney first see him
laying there his eyes are open. Then it cuts to a close up and his eyes are
closed, then back to the wide shot, the eyes are open.

Any one think about the letter writing campaign yet?

That is Allan Melvin, one of the best character actors in the business. He
also did one episode of "Mayberry RFD," as Mayberry's new barber in the
episode "Hair." That's the one where Emmett buys a bargain basement toupee
and goes to the barber to have it repaired/styled. Some of Melvin's other
prominent/costar roles:
"The Phil Silvers Show" - Corporal Henshaw
"All in the Family" / "Archie Bunker's Place" - Barney Hefner
"The Brady Bunch" - Sam the butcher
"Magilla Gorilla" - voice of Magilla Gorilla
"Gomer Pyle USMC" - Sgt. Hacker

In response to Tom wanting to know who the man was selling vegatables and also
in on the car scam with Mrs. Lecsh (sp.?) He was also the man Barney wrote a
ticket to for sweeping trash in the street, and Andy later got Barney's judo
instructor to fight him. He also was an escaped convict once that Andy caught
and Barney and Gomer let loose. Andy knew he was a convict because of his
boots and quail was out of season.

He later played Sam the Butcher on the Brady Bunch.

Hi all,
In case you haven't dropped by to sign up for the eBullet here it is:
http://www.tagsrwc.com/ and click on eBullet. Thanks again Allan for all
your hard work, and I might say, I love the archives section for the new
eBullet. It took me awhile to find them, but they are just great. I hope you
can keep this section going, as it makes a good place to go and print the
eBullet from. I love the idea of printing the eBullet for my personal use
after its release by email. The archives allows us to have the eBullet logo
at the top of our Bullet for our personal library.

Subject: it's the joke, folks

Why "Andy" characters have altered behaviors and why Aunt Bee can't make
pickles or relish for nothin'. (Thank god she wasn't one to try the
Chinese recipe out of the paper thanks to the missing page): While the
beloved characters on "Andy" occasionally display altered behavior, it's
worth noting that it's not their fault. They are the (usually tender)
mercy of the writers. The word crafters try to create a story in a
severely time-restrictive format, and some may not have been fans of the
show when it got in the way of a tale. And they may have missed some
episodes, not having the luxury of daily reruns. That's one reason I
prefer seasons four and five: Andy and Don have crafted their characters,
the writers knew the storyline and the show was, in my view, at its
zenith. And sometimes funny is funny. Altering a previous characteristic
for a joke is a bargain for all. Lastly, we all sometimes act completely
out of character, as Barney the Beast proves. Tom in Montana "The boys
said these were just mulberry squeezins ..."

Subject: One Liners

Oh, Rev. Joe, was you clip good for the soul!
It was the first Digest I have read in months and it asked the question
about favorite one-liners, the kind that can stand on their own two feet (or
I guess it would be one foot). Heck, I don't even need my thanking bucket
for this one!
Isn't that what makes Mayberry the Classic it is? It lives off of one
liners that have survived the test of time: Who can forget,
"Women, they're all nuts!"
"If you threw a quail in here, every woman here would point."
"He'd kill you." (probably the only funny line Helen ever had)
"I'm a little bit mean, but I make up for it by being real healthy."
And,
Every single line ever said by Mr. Darling ("That's just the way they act
when they're pantin' after you.") and Floyd the Barber ("Maude, Al, If those
burgers are ruined, I won't be responsible!). But, then, Floyd could read
the phone book and slay me.
We're going to get soooo many responses to this inquiry, it behooves me not
to be long winded here. But I will close on a Classic-classic:
"Boy, giraffes are selfish."
Laura Lee Hobbs, ("There's a gold truck a coming, and you and me and Gomer
and Laura Lee Hobbs are gonna be here to receive it.")
And, hey, if I messed up on some of the quotes, how about not making a big
deal out of it? OK? OKay. (Just "Nip it. Nip it in the bud. You go to any
book on the subject of how to handle a fan who has messed up a quote and
you'll find they are all in favor of bud nipping.")
Laura Lee Hobbs, dime store clerk & gold truck watcher extraordinaire
