I read where one fan said he thought that tvland had been skipping
Malcom Merriweather episodes....I know I have not seen one for quite
sometime....I can only rememer two episodes though. One was wen he
first came to mayberry and was wanting to be Andy`s gentleman`s
gentleman...and the other was when he came back and
Ernest T was going to fight him because he was an Englisher....were
there other episodes with the malcom character?

Hello all...
I just wanted to let you all know I can now stop whining about not having TV
Land because after years of complaints, it has now been added to our cable.
Can't even begin to tell you how happy that makes me. I feel more like one of
you now!!!

I have been enjoying everyone's favorite one liners
from the show- Here are a few of mine-
"He's hanging himself in your house!"
"Five"
"Eleven"
"Ninety-Two"
And my son's favorite- "Pipe down three!"
"The atmosphere in Arabia is a little bit different
than the atmosphere here in the southeastern United
States"
"I've just given you an A in breathing"
And from Floyd-" Barn, you're a good dancer, very
light on your feet!"

Gavin MacLeod (whose given name is Allan See) also appeared as "Happy"
Haines in "McHale's Navy" (the TV show, not the movie). He was in two
episodes of TAGS: "TV or Not TV", the episode about the fake Hollywood
producers coming to make "Sheriff Without a Gun" , and he was also in "The
Hollywood Party", a color episode where the Taylors go to Hollywood.
Some of my favorite lines are:
"Now Jud, just because you're a deputy doesn't mean you're entitled to free
fruit."
"Oh, that's beautiful...I've heard about your bullet, Barney!"
"You can't cut hair for 30 years without learning SOMETHING!"
"The boys is all keyed up."
About the book of favorite Mayberry lines: We love the Mayberry lines
because we know the episodes so well, we can "hear" and "see" the actors
playing them. I think we can all agree, it's the actors that make those
lines work. Just alone on a page, they sort of lose something.

Dear wbmutbb,
My wife, daughter and I, of course watch every episode of TAGS as we have
for years. It is a part of our every day life and gives us lots of laughs,
sometimes people don't get it but we do. I know this has happened to all of
you too; but isn't it funny? As I turned 40 this past week, I went for a
complete physical and everything checked out great, which I am very happy
about. When I returned home I came in the door and looked at my wife and
daughter and said, "It's just my uvula, I've got a uvula, ya'll have a uvula,
all God's children got a uvula!" Of course, we all laughed. Then we visited my
parents this weekend and as we were packing up to leave I told my wife, "I
know I left the gas on." She said "and the radio?" I said, "yes and the radio,
I left the gas and the radio on and you know what will happen BOOM!" Don't you
just love using these TAGS qoutes in everyday life. Of course, my parents just
looked at us, thinking gas and radio? HA!

What a great week at the ole Digest. I've been very busy and haven't had a
chance to write, but much of what I've been thinkin', has been said by other
Mayberry minds. Thanks for all those who gave notice of the wedding. I got
to see it for the first time. It was a brief scene..but memorable and worth
the wait.
One of my favorite episodes was on my local station this week. We still
have the best of both worlds, seeing the middle parts uncut like the
"giraffes are selfish" line on UPN, and seeing the epilogues on TVLand. So
many funny lines in "the Class Reunion" Like "I don't want to wreck a
marriage" You were in the Spanish club? "Si" It has been a long time Mr.
Fife. "What do you know about it?" That show I think has one of the
greatest contrasts from sheer comedy to drama. The portions where Andy and
Barney are going though the old Cutlass in the garage, and then trying to
remember the people names at the reunion are so funny...and then Andy and
Sharon Despain is a completely different tone. "One of the great Romances of
all time"
Someone mentioned about a week ago about a picture of a woman on Opie's
dresser. I think I saw that in Opies ill-gotten gain..or Opie loves Helen.
Just caught a glimpse but I thought it was Aunt Bee.
Two things I've been thinking about lately (even without my bucket). There
are so many episodes that include dancing. Were there any major charactars
who did not dance??? I can only think of one or two possibilities. So
that's the first question. Who did not dance?
Also it seems like over the course of the show several different types of
weapons were used, or at least displayed...and a few other mentioned but
never shown. Anybody ever compile a Mayberry weapon list?
All the major books on Child-rearin are in favor of bud nippin'

In response to the question about Gavin McLeod, he also appeared as a
regular on the 1960s TV show "McHale's Navy." He also just recently appeared
on an episode of the CBS comedy "King of Queens" as Doug's uncle. Two other
TAGS alumni have recently appeared on current comedies. Michael J. Pollard
(Barney's Cousin Virgil) appeared on an episode of Ted Danson's show
"Becker" and Howard Hesseman appeared on an episode of the Fox Network's
"That 70s' Show."
