Mike wrote: ... I guess they had her mixed up with Ellie Mae Clampett, Miss Walker never used her middle name on the show. >>> Mike is correct. Ellie Walker never had a middle name in any episode, neither printed nor spoken. Her name on her diploma from Bernard University (seen in her first episode, "Ellie Comes to Town") is Elinor Walker, Ph. G. For them that don't know, that's Pharmaceutical Graduate, not Pharmacy Gal. The misunderstanding about Ellie's name stems from the following line spoken by Andy in episode #22, Cyrano Andy: "Ellie, may I say, 'behind that pretty face you've got a awful handsome brain?' " Apparently, some people hear this line as "Ellie Mae, I say...," hence the confusion. BTW, someone at Columbia House can't spell worth a lick. They've credited Elinor as "Eleanor." On another tape, they mention something about "Goober and his brother Gomer." They should have checked with us first! - --Paul PS They wanted to give me a Ph.D., but I told 'em I already had a post hole digger. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 May 2096 20:46:35 -0500 From: "Dale Robinson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: MAYBERRY R.F.D. BOOK - SPECIAL SALE I want to thank Allan Newsome for the opportunity to offer the book "A Guide to Television's Mayberry R.F.D.," which I co-wrote with David Fernandes, to my fellow bulletin board members at a reduced rate. We have a few dozen left and are offering them for $15.00 each, which includes all shipping charges. The book normally sells in the $30 - $40 range, so it is at least 50% off the regular price. All 78 episodes are fully detailed with cast bio's, trivia and references to the Andy Griffith Show. It is the sequel to our first effort, "The Definitive Andy Griffith Show Reference." The R.F.D. book is hardbound and its 235 pages include pictures, detailed cast biographies and bio's on the directors and writers of the series. Actress Arlene Golonka (Millie) was kind enough to write a beautiful Foreword. We would be happy to sign your book upon your request. If you are interested in buying the book, please send a check or money order for $15.00 to: Dale Robinson 691 West Michigan Ave. Jacksonville, Illinois 62650 Thank You, Dale P.S. It is so nice to know that we can call ourselves friends. We all have something in common that is truly good in this world today. I live in a small community in Northern, Ontario Canada and it is very friendly and peaceful. I happen to be the funeral director. Every summer we have a celebration in our little town at which time we have major bands come in from all over to perform. One year one of these bands "Trooper" were here and they used my funeral home for a place to get ready before they performed. We became friends, I took them on a boat ride down the Ottawa River and they had a great time. About a month later they did a story on their web site and told of the wonderful time they had in our little community. They said in their story that it was like spending time in MAYBERRY. They were "Men in a Hurray" , but after awhile they learned to "just slow down and take it easy" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 May 2001 01:51:26 -0500 (CDT) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (David Lockhart) Subject: Favorite One-Liners My brother and I, use to be really shy when we was young. Relatives of ours, use to always call us the Darling boys. So my favorite one-liners is directed to the Darling boys. "You got to watch that...Here that boys, no yelling at the table! I have seen this episode dozens of times but had never noticed Opie riding his bike up to the courthouse on the sidewalk! I guess there ARE two sets of laws- one for the PO-lice and his family, and one for the ordinary citizen. Also, my husband, son and I watched the Luck of Newton Monroe last night and had never seen the beginning when Barney cathes the fly and then lets it go because "it is Sunday."
