Been a real busy month what with school fixin' to be over! Now the kitchen is all cleaned and closed down for the summer and I have finally read all the digests I've been neglecting! I love the one liners! I try to use a Mayberry quote everyday. Most people just look at me funny but a few do catch on. In the summer, I am an extended day teacher and after lunch I show 2 episodes of TAGS then we talk about the lesson in them and just why we think they are funny! Last summer I told my kids if they could give me a quote at an appropriate time or situation they would be rewarded. To my surprise, they came up with some real good ones! When kids began fighting or arguing, someone always came up to me and said that I had better "nip it in the bud". Once when I asked a boy what he thought his punishment ought to be, he said that "all your authorities on child-rearing recommend bud-nipping". This slayed me and I could not punish this child! But two of the best one were as followed....A girl was helping me make punch from a concentrated syrup. I read the instructions to her; "Mix water and syrup at a 5 to 1 ratio" to which she responded "Poor Horatio!" Laughed so hard I nearly spilled the punch! Second was during a trip to Cypress Gardens. A boy came up to me with a flower that had fell off a bush.He put it behind my ear and said "A teacher like you shouldn't attend a field trip unadorned!" Now if that don't clutch at your heart, you ain't got one! Children do say the darndest things! "homely in the cradle, pretty at the table!" ~the groovy misspoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 May 2001 21:35:04 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re:Jasper reference In a message dated 5/26/01 8:12:25 PM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > Goober ask him if he "wanted to go over to Jasper, theyr'e having a > tractor show over there". > I wondered if any of you Alabama trained noticers picked up on that? I believe the two years were 1948 and 1945. And oh yes, BTW...the letters "BTW" mean "by the way". I so appreciate you bringing it up! I got a bonus laugh to start my Sunday. Thanks! Maybe "Pavoratti" (sp.?), after all ol' Barn did have a wonderful tenor voice. I just watched a special on Showtime last night about Sid Ceaser and found out something I didn't know. That Ernest T. (sorry, for the moment I can't think of his real name) started out with Sid Caeser. And Sid had a lot of really good things to say about him. How 'bout THAT? :) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 May 2001 17:23:39 -0500 From: Vicki Pillow <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: vacation Hello fellow Mayberrians, We just got back from a few days vacation and you know what the best part of it was?????? The place we went to had TV Land!!!!! Being from a currently TV Land deprived cable system, I was thrilled! And the first two episodes I got to see were two of my favorites, Opie's Newspaper and Aunt Bee and the Butter and Egg Man. What a vacation!!! (Oh yeah, and we had a fine time, too, but it sure helped the relaxin' to be able to settle down in Mayberry for awhile) Vicki ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 09:18:49 -0400 From: Don Good <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: The "P" of Bernard P.
