I was going to the wedding of one of my wife's co-workers with my wife and 2 of her other coworkers. We were going up a steep hill and my wife patted her dashboard and said "Come on Betsy, you can do it." The other 2 girls thought it was so funny that she named her car. One of them asked me what I named my truck (98 Nissan). I had never really given it much thought, but without missing a beat I turned to her and said "Thelmer Lou". They all know what a huge TAGS fan I am,so it got a big laugh. And, I'm happy to say, the name stuck. As for the favorite scenes, it's too early to think that hard right now, so maybe I'll send one this afternoon or tomorrow (That's the best day to do anything, tomorrow). Of course ya smell gas! What d'ya think this car runs on?Coal? Chico ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Jun 2001 06:46:59 -0700 (PDT) From: NOPE JR <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Check out my tags website! It hurts me to hear anyone say anything negative about any character on TAGS. They have all brought me such laughter, and a wonderful escape from the worries of everyday life. Sometimes we all need a little reminder. .........that rose poetry spoke right to my heart...... Anita __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Dear members I am in the process of restoring a car and I would like to know where to find all the info I can of restoring it correctly. >>> Your first stop should be the squad car section of the TAGSRWC web site. You can download the door shield emblem from there. Any modern sign shop will be able to reproduce the decals (if you're not sure how to download, maybe the sign shop can download it for you). My door shields are magnets, because it is technically illegal for a civilian to have a star or the word "sheriff" on their car (the red beacon on top is also a no-no. Check with your local PD and sheriff's office - most won't object). If I happen to be driving through a community where the police aren't too friendly, I just take the magnets off and replace the red lens with an amber one. The correct Ford colors are Raven Black and Corinthian White (an off white - plain old white is much too bright). The cars on the show had black or gray interiors, but IMO the interior color doesn't really matter. Mine is "light gold," (actually closer to an olive green) and since it was in great shape when I bought the car, I just kept the interior the way it was. For the police equipment (siren, beacon, etc.) your best bet is www.policeguide.com. The correct beacon (red top light) is a Mars. The make of siren doesn't matter as long as it sounds right to you. The whip antenna can be purchased at any Radio Shack. The correct radio is a Motorola, but I've never been able to figure out the exact model number. I went to the local Motorola dealer in Joplin, and he gave me an old non-working radio for free! I have gotten a lot of inquiries about my car over the years, so I put together a 10-minute videotape that I will be happy to send to anybody who will send me a blank VHS tape and $4 for return postage. It's not too fancy, I just show the car from all angles and talk about the various police equipment. It may come in handy to anybody who is making their own squad car. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Jun 2001 22:44:51 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Squad Cars Does anyone who owns a squad car plan on attending the show in Pigeon Forge, TN in a few weeks? (An Evening with Don Knotts - June 25. Special guests are Betty Lynn and Howard Morris.) I would really like to have one on display on the porch of the theater that night. Please email me if you could bring one. I will be glad to take care of your tickets to the show. Thanks and Happy Motoring! Paw, I'll save a dollar Hey all, Just noticed a few nights ago in the "big Jeff Pruit" episode how they bought Jeff a suit. It seemed the sherrif's office was always quick to buy new suits. Who paid for them? And what about hiring all those extra deputies? Did the tax payers object? Take care everyone. "ohh she was feeling fine . . .SHE WAS HUMMING!" I LOVE all the TAGS episodes, even the ones with Howard and Emmett. I am so tired of comments that are a put down about certain ones people don't care for. The whole purpose of this site is to dwell on good things about the show and to have a little chance to escape to a better time and place. How can anyone not enjoy any show Floyd was in, he brought so much to any show he was in. Plus Howard and Emmett gave Andy an opportunity to continue to be the "wise advisor" in Mayberry, that he was. Thank you for your positive comments.
