Since we never saw a trolley actually run in Mayberry, maybe they are booboos that we aren't supposed to see but like tracks for the camera people...isn't it called a dolly? Maybe in order to film the episode, there wasn't a way not to have the tracks in the camera's view or they just showed up... I'm not technical mind you...just an idea! In the pickle episode, she spoke so lovingly about her dead husband. Yet, in the color episode where the church needs a new organ and Clara goes to visit the widower (who was the Married Bread and Butter man to Aunt Bee; hmmmmmmm...) who has his dead wife's organ to sell, when the owner of the organ calls Clara "Mrs.", she QUICKLY corrects him and says,"Miss Edwards". Now, tell me, how can she be a widow in the pickle episode yet be a never-been-married-Miss in the Church buys a "new" organ episode? huh? Am I missin' something here? I thought I was a TAGS "noticer" until I was fortunate enough to find this site! I don't think that anymore. I have gotten so much pleasure reading the digest that I have been sharing it with my mother who is a TAGS fan, herself. Runs in the family, you know! Anyway, on my weekly phone call with Mom, we go over the details of the week's digests. She gets some of the biggest laughs out of things that are noticed in here. Her comment this week was, "They don't miss a beat, do they?" She told me something that she wanted me to ask you all about. I told her I would ask (bein' she's elderly and all -- 76-years-old pretty soon). Here's what Mom thinks is a contradiction. You all tell me what you think. Here goes. . . Aunt Bea went on a quiz show and won all sorts of prizes and you all know what happened after that. Anyhow, the wind-up was that she got rid of all the prizes but said she was going to keep the TV and the garbage disposal. Now my mother states that on a later show Aunt Bea is discussing with Andy how she wants to get a garbage disposal and makes mention of the fact that she got rid of the appliances she had won. Well, . . . what do you all think? Is there a contradiction or not? (I'll understand if y'all think she's mistaken. She's elderly, you know.) Oh, one more thing. . . As soon as I heard her talk I knew for sure - it was Clara Johnson/Edwards! It was so nice to see her on something else, and I don't think I'd seen her on another show besides TAGS before! Yep that was her all right, actress Hope Summers. She also guest-starred on an episode of "Welcome Back, Kotter" in the late 1970s... I can't help but notice that truck (a 1950s era Ford F-150) has been passed around quite often. Andy and Aunt Bee are about to get in it in the first episode, as if it were Andy's. Later we see Gomer driving it, then later it's Goober's truck, then it belongs to Sam Jones (into the Mayberry RFD years)! I always think of it as Goober's truck, though, with the tools and all... We were eating breakfast in a restaurant off I-65 just south of Birmingham, AL. At the table next to us were 6 men, construction workers, probably in their 20's or 30's. We heard bits of their conversation as follows: "So he said, that's what we have insurance for. I'll file a claim. She didn't want him to but he filed and they got paid. Then she found the pin in her pocket, but it worked out anyway because they accidently dropped the pin in the garbage disposal." does that story sound familiar to anyone? The next day, we took our granddaughter to a water park in Bowling Green, KY. I heard one mom tell her son, who was getting out of the pool, "Hurry up and come on, Goober." Made my day, since I missed my daily "Andy" fix. Mary ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2001 22:40:51 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Earnest T. Lisa was mentioning the MASH and TAGS connection when she saw Hope Summers on MASH the other night. Let's not forget all of the TAGS connections or appearances on MASH. Some of the finest writers for TAGS wrote for MASH, including Everette Greenbaum. William Christopher appeared on two episodes of TAGS. George Lindsey played another doctor on an episode of MASH. Ron Howard appeared on an episode of MASH also. And of course, the 4077's favorite section 8, Klinger appeared as a gypsy on TAGS (Dont forget that Weavers offers limited edition autographed renderings of Jamie Farr). I'm sure there are many more connections that I just can't think of right now. There was truck in that episode (#1), but we don't know if it belonged to Andy, or if he borrowed it from someone. I'd guess the latter, since Andy doesn't have a truck in any future episode. The truck was tan and red. I wonder why Andy didn't just drive Aunt Bee in the squad car? Maybe he wasn't finished washing it yet. After all, you wouldn't want to put you aunt (or your mama) in a dirty car. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2001 15:19:12 -0000 From: "Michael McDaniel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Clara Edwards Someone mentioned that they hadn't seen Clara Edwards (Hope Summers) on anything other than TAGS until MASH the other day.
