<< Was that trolley tracks ever seen in ANY other episodes besides the Green
Ink
episode where Aunt Bee worked for counterfieters? hey from the ozarks >>

I've had my bucket out pondering this mysterious trolley tracks. Since we
never saw a trolley actually run in Mayberry, maybe they are booboos that we
aren't supposed to see but like tracks for the camera people...isn't it
called a dolly? Maybe in order to film the episode, there wasn't a way not
to have the tracks in the camera's view or they just showed up...

I'm not technical mind you...just an idea! I don't think my bucket has holes
in it.

Wasn't Clara a widow? In the pickle episode, she spoke so lovingly about her
dead husband. Yet, in the color episode where the church needs a new organ
and Clara goes to visit the widower (who was the Married Bread and Butter man
to Aunt Bee; hmmmmmmm...) who has his dead wife's organ to sell, when the owner
of the organ calls Clara "Mrs.", she QUICKLY corrects him and says,"Miss
Edwards".
Now, tell me, how can she be a widow in the pickle episode yet be a
never-been-married-Miss in the Church buys a "new" organ episode? huh?
Am I missin' something here?

Hello Everyone:
I wanted to let you all know that I have been doing quite a bit of
braggin' about how knowledgeable some of you are on TAGS. I thought I was a
TAGS "noticer" until I was fortunate enough to find this site! I don't think
that anymore. I have gotten so much pleasure reading the digest that I have
been sharing it with my mother who is a TAGS fan, herself. Runs in the
family, you know! Anyway, on my weekly phone call with Mom, we go over the
details of the week's digests. She gets some of the biggest laughs out of
things that are noticed in here. Her comment this week was, "They don't miss
a beat, do they?" She told me something that she wanted me to ask you all
about. I told her I would ask (bein' she's elderly and all -- 76-years-old
pretty soon).
Here's what Mom thinks is a contradiction. You all tell me what you
think. Here goes. . . Aunt Bea went on a quiz show and won all sorts of
prizes and you all know what happened after that. Anyhow, the wind-up was
that she got rid of all the prizes but said she was going to keep the TV and
the garbage disposal. Now my mother states that on a later show Aunt Bea is
discussing with Andy how she wants to get a garbage disposal and makes
mention of the fact that she got rid of the appliances she had won. Well, .
. . what do you all think? Is there a contradiction or not? (I'll
understand if y'all think she's mistaken. She's elderly, you know.)
Oh, one more thing. . . Mom says, "Hellllooooooo Doll"

I knew
for sure - it was Clara Johnson/Edwards! It was so nice to see her on

Yep that was her all right, actress Hope Summers. She also guest-starred on
an episode of "Welcome Back, Kotter" in the late 1970s...

Didn't Andy have a pick-up truck of his own...like in the episode where Aunt
Bee came to live with them and Opie didn't want her
there?...

I can't help but notice that truck (a 1950s era Ford F-150) has been passed
around quite often. Andy and Aunt Bee are about to get in it in the first
episode, as if it were Andy's. Later we see Gomer driving it, then later
it's Goober's truck, then it belongs to Sam Jones (into the Mayberry RFD
years)! I always think of it as Goober's truck, though, with the tools and
all...

the ones I have counted are as follows: one in the kitchen, one in Andy's
room, one in the living room and one in the hallway upstairs. I had four in
mind when I asked the question, but maybe yall remember others.

My husband and I just took a trip from our home in Florida to Kentucky and
had a couple of "Mayberry moments". We were eating breakfast in a
restaurant off I-65 just south of Birmingham, AL. At the table next to us
were 6 men, construction workers, probably in their 20's or 30's. We heard
bits of their conversation as follows: "So he said, that's what we have
insurance for. I'll file a claim. She didn't want him to but he filed and
they got paid. Then she found the pin in her pocket, but it worked out
anyway because they accidently dropped the pin in the garbage disposal."
does that story sound familiar to anyone? The next day, we took our
granddaughter to a water park in Bowling Green, KY. I heard one mom tell
her son, who was getting out of the pool, "Hurry up and come on, Goober."
Made my day, since I missed my daily "Andy" fix. Mary

My husband and I have a bet that the actor who plays Earnest T. Bass and the
actor who plays Festus on Gunsmoke are one in the same man. Is this true?
If anyone knows, please respond and if you know the name of the actor(s)
please include that as well.
Thanks.

No...it's not the same feller. Who won the bet?

Ernest T. Bass is played by actor Howard Morris
Festus was played by Ken Curtis.

Not the same feller.

Hi all...

Lisa was mentioning the MASH and TAGS connection when she saw Hope Summers
on MASH the other night. Let's not forget all of the TAGS connections or
appearances on MASH. Some of the finest writers for TAGS wrote for MASH,
including Everette Greenbaum. William Christopher appeared on two episodes
of TAGS. George Lindsey played another doctor on an episode of MASH. Ron
Howard appeared on an episode of MASH also. And of course, the 4077's
favorite section 8, Klinger appeared as a gypsy on TAGS (Dont forget that
Weavers offers limited edition autographed renderings of Jamie Farr).
I'm sure there are many more connections that I just can't think of right
now.

dissapointing news
since he is the only other cast member that I haven't meet (and wanted to
meet). Please

There was truck in that episode (#1), but we don't know if it belonged to
Andy, or if he borrowed it from someone. I'd guess the latter, since Andy
doesn't have a truck in any future episode. The truck was tan and red.

I wonder why Andy didn't just drive Aunt Bee in the squad car? Maybe he
wasn't finished washing it yet. After all, you wouldn't want to put you
aunt (or your mama) in a dirty car.

Though I don't watch the non B&W TAGS anymore, I have
seen them many times in the past. Hearing that the
Gypsy (Gypsie?) episode recently aired, I remember the
lovely young lady in that episode. Obviously her
background and family wouldn't endear her to Andy, but
she had to be one of the most, if not the most,
stunningly attractive women to come into Andy's life.
Did you ever notice how they stereotype gypsies in
that episode? Bet it wouldn't fly in today's overt
politically correct climate.

know I'm still here and enjoying reading the Digest.
And of course still watching TAGS. I like the B&W
episodes more but I still watch the color episodes
too. That's the best part of my day, watching TAGS
while I eat supper .
Lots of luck to you and yours!
