Is Peter Baldwin whose name is listed in the credits of a couple shows related to the famous Baldwin Bros, Peter, Alec, Steven? Is the director whose last name is Jameson related to my buddy Skippy aka Joyce Jameson? I saw Everett Greenbaum's name listed as writer on the episode of MASH that always makes me cry-- the one where Col. Blake gets discharged but never makes it home. Also wanted to say that my sister is doing student teaching in the Orange County NY area, and came upon Ron Howard's son in the elementary school where she was. Don't know much more except that he is the spittin' image of Opie and no he wasn't in her room. Still working on my limerick. At the end of the show Jim Nabors would make the offer "write to me and I'll send you a box." I recall receiving many boxes and wish I had the packaging. Also, remember that TAGS was sponsored by "Post" and their logo would be shown as Opie throws a rock into the lake at the start of the show. If my memory is correct (though it ain't what it used to be!) there were a number of episodes where Barney didn't appear at all, so maybe they moved him down (or off) the list when he wasn't on the show. Very funny and Eddie Murphy does a hilarious Floyd! ~the groovy misspoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2001 20:04:39 -0500 From: "DEBORAH DUBOSE" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Side-car Episode Now this isn't worth making a moulage out of, but it's just one of those things that has always caught my attention every time I've watched the Barney and his side-car episode (it's one of my faves) and then I quickly forget about it. However, THIS time I did remember, so here I am writing about one of those quirks we all love to catch, but they don't really mean a hill of beans. So here it is; maybe it's caught your attention, too. When Andy reads the date of the battle, it is written month first followed by day. If memory serves me correctly, it was June 12 and it was carved on the board as 06-12-followed by the year. Not unusual until you realize that military dates are always written day first followed by the month then year--it should have been 12-06-year. Christmas would be 25-12-01 to those in the military this year; while to most other people in this country it will be written as 12-25-01. Now I know both Andy and Barney were supposed to have served in the service, (Barney working in charge of books, so wouldn't he have typed a lot of forms bearing dates and if there's one thing we can all say about Barney--he's meticulous, oh, boy, is he meticulous! Remember the broken nose episode?). True the character Barney was so caught up in the moment he may not have caught the date thing, and certainly by then he was so used to writing dates the other way, but what about the writers and other crew members who surely some had to have had a military background not catching it? Was it just written the "normal" way to avoid confusion for a mostly non-military audience? Or did it just honestly never cross anyone's mind the way it did mine? 'Cause just like so many of you, I too am a trained noticer. Only I seem to notice stuff other people never heard of. Also, good to hear from the lovely Miss Poovey. She is one of my favorite writers. Whenever I see her name or Aunt Bee from Orlando or Joe or Fat Man or, shoot, there's too many to start naming, I know I will learn something and have a laugh doing so. And just remember, years after having the vision of the stolen pool, it happened just as I saw. You think the Count hangs around me??? It could explain SO many things. I just knew Dixon would know who my Mystery Lady was. Did your well of knowledge dry up? Impossible. That's all for now. They are hosting David Browning and a Mayberry Night (with Opie Lookalike and Pickle Eating Contests, etc.) on July 8. If you're in the Huntsville, AL area...Mayberry Night at the Huntsville Stars will be July 6th. You'll find David "The Mayberry Deputy" Browning and Allan "Floyd the Barber" Newsome (me) there walking around the stands and visiting with the fans. Make your way out to the ball park if you can and support these, and other, Mayberry Nights so they'll continue to have them each year. I know those that attend enjoy the events. Hope to see you there.
