my little
town has annually. The event is called "Cow Days"
Better make sure them prize cows aren't stolen. I seen Luke Jensen hanging
around town lately.
Not to make a big moulage out of anything.

We did see Romeena when Ernest T. first laid eyes on her. He was passing as
Andy's cousin Oliver
"Ollie" Gossage from Raleigh - or was that Back Bay Boston, like Mrs. Wylie
thought. Her name
was really Ramona but Ernest either didn't know how to say it correctly or
Romeena was his little
nickname for his darlin' person. Who would've thought that we'd ever see grown
people playing
leapfrog in the middle of Mayberry? That was a great episode!! One of my very
favorites! Lisa

Subject: seeing LOTS of TAGS stuff/people
Hello! The other night I got out and played some old video tapes of The Real
McCoys to show my daddy who was sick and staying with us;
WOW!! You would not beleive all the people on that show that were also on
TAGS sometimes!!!
Even in one episode where Grandpa went downtown, the outdoor grocery was the
very same one used in TAGS (with all the fruit outside and that awning).
I even caught a glimpse of what looked a LOT like the mayberry courthouse.
This particular episode had a 1960 copyright on it.
As a trained noticer I had fun!!!!
TAGS is everywhere!!!
PS. It was on Real McCoys that I saw the painting of the couple out in the field
with bowed heads, AND I spotted the glass-fronted book shelf from the
courthouse
in an inside shot of a person's business office.
DUH!! It dawned on me that the old , black telephone that
Andy and Barn used to talk on was the SAME one the McCoys used!!! They were
all filmed at Desilu for a long time, even DURING the same time overlap. Bye
bye from the lovely Ozarks!!!!

Subject: Mayberry Days!
Well I still have to keep pinching myself to see if it is real and not a
dream. We finally made 600 mile track across the country to Mayberry Days.
Every since I first heard of it I have been longing to go but always managed
to find a reason to put it off until the next year. Well enough is enough
and I have to tell you not only were we not disappointed we were more than
delighted. It was more than I could have ever imagined. Like most all of you
I'm sure I eat , sleep, and talk Andy and Mayberry might near 24/7s. I know
I get on some people's nerves. I do however try to just hang around people
like myself. The weather , the scenic beauty, and the down home hospitality
was more than I can put into words. Not only did I get to meet all my heroes
I got to go down to Haymore Street to see Andy's old home place. I took a
zillion photos. The only thing is while I was sitting in the swing in Andy's
front yard and my wife was fixing to take my and my son's picture the
battery ran down in our camera. Oh well what can I say. God had already
answered all our prayers and more. Yes I did shake hands and say Hi to the
stars. My wife thought I should tell Allan and Paul who I was, like I know
them real well. She just hears me talk about them so much I guess she thinks
I know them as I do call them by their first name in conversation. I was as
fascinated with David Browning as I would have been if I met the real
Barney. I guess he is the real Barney now. I saw him running down the street
in a hurray to get somewhere and I noticed he even ran like Barney. We also
took a carriage ride around Mayberry all the way to Wally's Service Station.
Okay I shut up. Thanks to everybody who did anything to promote help or
anything else the Mayberry Days. It means so much to so many. I have to
believe more than you can ever imagine.

Subject: Alumni? Sighting
Well, they're not really alumni, but while staying at a Hampton Inn last
night, I picked up the copy of On the Road, their house magazine. On page 7
was a little TV Land quiz. The 5th question was: What NC town is the
birthplace of Andy Griffith and host of the annual Mayberry Days celebration
which honors the TV hometown of Sheriff Taylor, Barney, Opie, Gomer and
Goober? The answer choices were Mount Pilot, Black Mountain, Mount Airy,
Manteo. Best of was the photo, it was our favorite character substitutes
David Browning and Allan Newsome. And I believe it was Phil Lee as Ernest
T.

Subject: Jack-o-lantern patterns
Hi folks,
I'll be designing a new Jack-o-lantern pattern in a week or so. If anyone
has any suggestions as to which character you'd like to see, send your ideas
to the digest.
I may do a new Barney design. The Barney pattern is the first jack-o-lantern
pattern I ever made (4 years ago); when I look at that first one I realize I
could have done a much better job. The Floyd pattern is from 1998, and
Goober is from 1999. I didn't make one last year because with a new baby in
the house, I didn't have much spare time.
