Definitely "Romena". Ernest T. Bass' main squeeze has got to be a
sight for sore eyes. Or at least a sight.

TAGS fans,
Several of my coworkers have recently purchased the complete first
season of the Simpsons on DVD, as well as entire seasons of the X-Files.
Now, who can we talk to or petition (or whatever) to get someone to do the
same with TAGS? I've seen the Simpsons set running for as low as $39 here
in Denver. I would gladly pay twice that much for the first season of
TAGS.

>>>I love this bulliten board........ could someone
please tell me what year models of the
ford galaxie was used in the andy griffith show????? I just bought a 1963 4
door 500 XL ..I am wanting to restore it and fix it up like the squad car.
>>>
The squad car on the show was updated to the newest model each year, so any
full-size Ford sedan from 1960 through 1967 is appropriate. It seems that
most fans who want to restore a squad car choose a model from 1962 - 1964.
BTW Freddie, I think you mean yours is a 4 door Galaxie 500; as I recall the
500 XL was a 2-door sport model, available in fastback or convertible.
The cars on the show were Galaxies (not Galaxie 500s), but a Galaxie 500
will still make a perfectly acceptable Mayberry squad car. The body is
identical; the only differences are in the chrome trim. There was also a
"300 series" Ford sedan which was a very basic "no frills" car with almost
no chrome at all.
If you're restoring a Galaxie 500, you can spend extra time and money
removing the extra trim and filling in all the screw holes, or you can just
leave the trim on like I did. A casual fan of the show will never know the
difference. I'd be willing to bet that if you took an old Dodge or Chevy
from anywhere between 1955 and 1970 and painted it black and white and added
the appropriate decal, 99% of everyone who saw it would say, "Wow, that
looks just exactly like the one on the show!"
There's a great deal more info (and lots of pictures) to be found on the
squad car section of the club web site (www.mayberry.com). Be sure to check
it out.

Subject: too coincidental
Hellooo Dolll,
Last Saturday night I was watching a rerun of Make Room For Daddy on
GoodtimeTV, and noticed a huge coincidence between this episode and the Mr.
McBeevee episode of TAGS. I missed the closing credits , so I don't know
if the writers were one in the same or not. If you will remember, TAGS
actually spun off of Make Room for Daddy.
In this episode, Linda, (the young girl about Opies age,) came home and told
her family about Mr. Jumbo who was 10 feet tall and wore a red coat and
handed out candy to the kids, etc. As the story progresses, she (Linda)
gets sent to the psychologist (played by Amzie Strickland), because she is
insisting Mr. Jumbo is real, and Danny Thomas is about having enough of the
story because she refuses to admit Mr. Jumbo is imaginary, and decides to
punish her with a spanking. At the same time he is struggling with his
conscience about not believing the child. At the crucial moment before the
spanking, in walks Mr. Jumbo, the new doorman at the St. Moritz who wears a
red overcoat and hands out candy to the kids in the neighborhood, AND stands
well over 6 and a half feet tall.
Does anybody know if this story line was recycled or not because it seems
like it to me.
Thanks,
Fun Girl

Does anyone know how to make contact with the Mayberry impersonators. I was
wondering who to contact regarding booking these people for an event my little
town has annually. I think it would be great for our community. The event is
called " Cow Days" yes thats right. We actually give away 3 cows as prizes.
You can either accept the cow or have it auctioned off. This is real small
town event, it goes back almost 100 years.
Thanks in advance,

I listen to a Christian Radio station WKLV on the way to work every morning
and received a real treat this morning. They were doing a tribute to TAGS
because today is the 41st anniversary of the show. They played sound bytes
and the theme song all morning and was even doing a survey on your favorite
characters. They had people calling in impersonating Ernest T. The DJ
then sang "The Fishin' Hole" song. It is great to see that even after 41
years TAGS never gets old.

Enjoyed everything. The weather was

Mark Bennett has been drawing floor plans of TV homes and offices for years.
He has done 50 TV floor plans including:
Andy Griffith's Home from the Andy Griffith Show
Drawings are actual blueprints, size 24" x 36".
Copies of the blueprints are available for $ 25.00 each plus $ 5.00 Shipping &
Handling.
Blueprints are shipped rolled.
For a list of drawings send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to:

Maybe our store could check into carrying some of these blueprints as well if
they seem to have
an appeal to TAGS fans.
