Do we ever learn any more about Myra Koontz other than the fact she works at
the "lan-ga-ree shop". In last nights episode, did everyone enjoy that
scene with gossip Barney and Andy sitting in the squad car talking about
everyone in town. I love that scene, and also when Asa said, "See Ben it is
not happening while I am here, it's happening in the day time when you are
here!" Just wonderful lines.

I would appreciate it if someone would email me Barney's lines when he told
Andy about the girl who was still pitting prunes. I really enjoy that scene
in TAGS, but I have forgotten the episode title.

Thanks, Jim

For years I've tried to find out something that Paul doesn't know, well, I
found one. Paul doesn't know the story about Myra Koontz!

Ref: the Ernest T. Bass story "how do you do, Mrs. Wiley":
Were my ears playin' tricks, or didn't every one "introduce"
Ernest's Romeena as Ramona? (I always called her Romeena, becaus Ernest
T. did; but when she was introduced at that party/dance she seemed to be
introduced
as Ramona).
  Help me out, somebody. Thanks

I think an Opie pattern would be a natural, working in the orange of the
pumpkin with Opie's hair! Plus, it would be cute to have a friendly kid's
face on a pumpkin. Thanks, Paul!

My 7 year old son is entering the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby. He wants his
entry to be a replica of a Mayberry squad car. I was wondering if anyone in
the digest had done this before and if they might have any patterns that
they would be willing to share?

Subject: Mayberry Days 2001

Hey to all! I finally got to visit the Mayberry Days this year. I only live
a couple of hours away so we just went down on Saturday. I wasn't fortunate
to see any "real" cast members but did get to have my picture made with Phil
Fox, the Ernest T. impersonator and the "Opie" boy was really cute. I was
disappointed, however, because I had printed out a schedule off TAGSRWC that
had times , dates etc. for all events and it said on Saturday, they were
having walking tours and also open house at Andy's house and to originate at
The Andy Griffith Playhouse. The only (LONG) line there was for autographs
and we asked several people and they said they knew nothing about it. Then
in "The Mayberry Confidential" that we picked up there, it had different
listings and IT said those events were done on Friday. We did go on our
"own" tours and found everything. It was neat to walk in Andy's yard and see
Wally's. We waited in line at The Snappy Lunch (for a pork chop sandwich)
and someone said there was an hour and a half wait so we got in line at the
diner but it was over an hour wait. We finally went across the street to
another little restaraunt that wasn't on the show but the wait was only 10
min and the food was good! We're planning on a trip back soon so we can eat
a p.c. sandwich and then we'll "have" to go to the diner for some pie! It
was fun, though. Next time, I would like to go to the dinner to meet the
cast members. Everyone was talking about what a sweet person "Charlene" is
and how "true" to character she is. I took lots of great pictures, too. Bye,
for now! April in Blountville, Tn.

Subject: TAGS alum on Dick van Dyke

I spotted a few TAGS alumni on Dick van Dyke this weekend on TV Land.
Barbara Perry (Floss in the second class reunion episode, Lavinia in "A
Wife for Andy") played Buddy's wife Pickles, Howard Morris played a
German art critic, Jamie Farr (one of the gypsies) played the lunch
delivery boy, Arthur Batanides (convict Ralph Neal in the episode
"Barney's Bloodhound") played a mobster. I also noticed some familiar
names in the credits-- executive producer Sheldon Leonard, director of
some episodes Howard Morris, music by Earle Hagen. I'm sure these are
not the only ones, but they are the ones that came to mind at the
moment. No wonder "The Dick van Dyke Show" is my second favorite sitcom
ever, right after TAGS, of course. Mary Grace Gossage"Silence is my game,
mum's my name, tick a lock."

Subject: Mayberry Days 2001 at the Mount Airy Visitors Center

Dear Fans of Andy Griffith, Mount Airy, and "Mayberry".
Wanted to write a note to let all of you know how much I, my
staff, and Emmett Forrest enjoyed rolling out the red "Mayberry" carpet
at the Visitors Center (home of the Andy Griffith Museum) for Mayberry
Days 2001! It was truly a pleasure to recognize the impact that Andy
and the And Griffith Show has had on so many all across the state,
country, and out of the country!! Our repeat visitors show us that we
must be doing something right.
I also wanted to let you guys in on some statistics just hot off
my calculator and computer, and believe me, these are some sizzling
stats! Mind you, these are just the numbers documented by our
registers. We know that many more did not sign or did not get by the
Andy Griffith Museum to register.
            Thursday: 765 Friday: 1,640 Saturday 4,061
   Sunday: 225 Grand Total: 6, 691
This represents a + 31 % increase or change over MD 2000. This year we
were represented by 31 states and 3 foreign countries.
In addition, Emmett Forrest and I would like to extend our
appreciation and thanks to the following individuals who either gave of
their time or gave "treasures" to Emmett to add to his extensive
collection of Andy Griffith memorabilia. Do stop back by in the near
future to see the additions. Here goes the list...Thank you to Bart
Boatwright, Phil Bowling, Jason Gilmore, Nancy Thornton, Steve & Teresa
Barfield, Tom Thomas, Jewel Kutzer, and Jeff Koontz. Heartfelt thanks
also to Allen "Floyd" Newsome who accepted the pansy award with such
flourish at the Mayberry Garden Club Flower Show on Friday. Thanks and
a huge hug to Maggie Peterson for her stop by the Center on Sunday
before flying out! She is a gem. A big hug also to Ms. Betty Lynn who
still tugs at everyone's heartstrings. She stopped by with Steve and
Teresa Barfield on Wednesday before all the festivities began.
Thank you celebrities and fans alike for choosing to spend
Mayberry Days 2001 with us in Mount Airy. Don't wait until Mayberry
Days 2002 to visit us again! Hurry on back and make it "snappy", why
don't you?
