I'm thinking the tough, "Why don't you go back to catching chicken thieves"
guy from the state police, who gave Andy and Barney such a hard time, was
also a neighbor of the Petries in one episode. I think he had a chip on his
shoulder then, too. I'm sure a lot of the character actors who orbited the
TAGS universe also popped up on DVD, with Sheldon Leonard being behind both
shows...

I believe her actual name in the show is Ramona Beasley. But Ernest T.'s
"version" is Romeena.

Did anybody else find it strange that Opie called Floyd "Floyd" instead of
"Mr. Lawson"?

I believe Ernest T. was just pronouncing Ramona's name Romeena. He's not

TAGS fans,

Caught the premiere episode of Bonaza on PAX this past Sunday. Lorne
Greene's performance was much more over the top than I have ever seen
before. But as I was watching it, I kept thinking that it reminded me of
something specific and I couldn't remember what. It finally registered on
me that he seemed to have gone to the same acting school as Gavin McLeod's
character in "Mayberry Goes Hollywood." When he came stomping into the
ranch house hollering, "Little Joe, Little Joe!" it was with the same voice
as Gavin shouted, "Aunt Bea! Aunt Bea!"

Subject: TAGS Alums on Dick Van Dyke

I enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke Show fandemonium on TVLand this past weekend,
and also spotted many alums from TAGS. Allen Melvin appears in several DVDS
episodes, usually as an army buddy of Rob's in the flashback episodes.
Also, Mary Grace mentioned that music maestro Earle Hagen provided the music
for DVDS. He's a treasure! There was one episode where Rob was at the
police station as a witness to a crime and the "Manhunt" music came on
(a.k.a. "Barney's Theme"). It's a great song, but it just didn't sound
right coming out of the DVDS. It's better when it accompanies Barney
walking the streets of Mayberry with a smug but satisfied look on his face.

Dear Hendersons -

That's just the way Ernest T. Bass talks! It's one of the endearing things
about him. Like when Mrs. Wiley calls him a creature and he gets upset for
being called a "creachter". Her name is Ramona, but she's Romeena to ETB!

Lots of luck to you and yours.

Subject: Barney's allergy

Hey all!
I was enjoying last night's episode of TAGS on TV Land
(the one where Charlene gets a divorce). I laughed so
hard at Barney sneezing that my side was hurting after
the show ended. I had forgotten about that episode.
The Pickle Story is my favorite but last night's
episode is a close second.

Anyway, does anyone know if Don Knotts is truly
allergic to horsehair or was that an act? If it was
an act, he did a great job. Also, I wanted to know if
Charlene got divorced, when did she and Dud remarry?
The next time we see Charlene and Dud getting married,
they are only in front of a preacher to please Ernest
T.

No connection to this deal - just came across it on Ebay and
noted references to our favorite deputy. I've been
contemplating building a squad car replica, but this one
looks like it needs more work than the spidery bandstand.

Ex NC Highway Patrol Car 390 Ci High Perform
Vehicle Description

As found, vintage police cruiser! Originally purchased and used by North
Carolina Highway Patrol and then sold in 1965 at a state auction this 95,000
mi vehicle still has the "B" title from 1965. Originaly black and silver it
was repainted white as required by law for ex NC patrol cars before being
sold to public. When sold it had 35,000 or 45,00 mi and the next owner drove
it until it had 95,000 mi parking it almost 20 yrs ago. He stated it still
ran well with a little lifter noise and the trans would slip in reverse. It
retains most of the factory original equipment, to include: Original 390 HP
engine with factory cast iron freeflow exhaust manifolds, open element air
cleaner, original trans and rear, both dual exhaust mufflers, 15 in steel
wheels with rare dog dish hubcaps. Radio delete plate, original keys, rubber
floor mat. The engine still has original plug wires! Missing only distributer
cap. Unknown running condition, but was full of antifreeze when parked. All
belts and
hoses intact. Auto trans and 9in rear end.(I believe its a posi-unit,havent
checked) I have some extra spare parts for this vehicle as well as a 1964
Galaxie Conv, a pair of 62 Thunderbirds and a 60 Falcon to be offered on ebay
and parthound in the upcoming months!

Vehicle Condition

This car needs a total restoration!! Sitting in the field for 20 years took
its toll. The factory rubber floor covering held in moisture and almost the
entire floor pan needs replacement. (I do know the whereabouts of a "cheap"
nearly rust free 64 custom 4dr body) The windshield has a break in it on the
drivers side, otherwise all glass excellant. The frame is still solid but
does have some light "scaling" on drivers side under floorboard. The trunk
lip/edge also has rust. And there is rust spots here and there.Interior door
panels cleaned up well, seats still presentable but need recovering. I
sandblasted and painted the 15 in wheels gloss black. I dont believe there
was a prettier or classier patrol car then the 1963 and 1964 NC Highway
Patrol car! Originaly Tutone Silver and black with black wheels, these cars
are extremely rare and often cloned! This model also happens to be the base
car for "The Andy Griffith Show" mayberry patrol cars are one of the most
faked patrol !
cars and this is a REAL ex patrol vehicle! I'm including a correct 1963
vintage motorola police car radio system in excellant shape with the sale of
the vehicle (for free, to high bidder). If your a NC retired trooper or just
a patrol car enthusiast, you'll appreciate cruising in a restored vintage
police car! Theres even a national and international American Police Car
Owners Club! Barney Fife where are you!
