Mike, That would the Intercontinental Flyer. A fairly expensive bike for back
then.

The way Charlene and the Boys do this is wonderful. Bu the way Andy does it
with only his guitar on the front porch when his pretty "cousin" came to
visit is also a gem.

The TennesseeTAGS Club has been compiling a list of all the Tennessee
references we can find, including some from the Digest. So far we have
found 9 separate references to Tennessee. When we get to the T's, I'll
post our list! Maybe we'll have more Tennessee references by then. If
you live in Tennessee, come join us at:

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to let Lisa from West Virginia know that my mom is from
Elkview, West Virginia. All of my im te family now lives in Arkansas
including me and we are proud of it. Arkansas and West Virginia get the
same wrap as being ignorant hillbillies. Arkansas and Mississippi played
the greatest football game ever Saturday night as it went into seven
overtimes and the final score was Arkansas 58 and Mississippi 56. SHAZAM!
I love the down home feeling and comedy when I watch TAGS.

More power to ya!

Hey All,

Haven't written to the digest in a long time, but I've been faithfully
reading (and enjoying) everyone elses posts. In a recent post someone
mentioned Andy calling Chattanooga to check on the background of a suspect.
Something about this call has always struck me as odd and I wonder if anyone
else has noticed the same thing. I live in southwestern North Carolina and
am about 2 hours away (or more) from Chattanooga. I would assume that
Mayberry would be much further than that from Chattanooga, maybe 5 or 6
hours and half a state away. Yet when Andy introduces himself to the
sheriff in Chattanooga he simply says something like "this is Andy Taylor
from over here in Mayberry" as if he were in the neighboring county or
something. Looks like he would have at least said Mayberry, North Carolina.
Is it just me? And another thing that's always puzzled me...How does Fred
Plummer get that hat to stay on his head while he is getting pummeled by
that little Japanese guy? Somebody take this bucket away from me, it's
making me think too much. Gotta go, I think my hair's starting to drip.

According to the Internet Movie Database (us.imdb.com), James Best was born
July 26, 1926 in Powderly, Kentucky.

his bike impounded, what kind of bike is it ? Please don't tell me they say
the name 2 or 3 times during the show. I'll be completely humiliated. My
10
year old daughter already thinks its hilarious that I don't know."

Boy I hate to humilate ya Mike but the very first thing Opie says when
Arnold rides up on the bike
is "Hey you got your new Intercontinental Flyer"

One more possible reference to WV comes to mind. I believe that Howard and
Millie (along with Andy and Helen) were going somewhere in WV during their
ill-fated wedding trip.

I can't think of one for Alabama nor Arizona but Alaska was mentioned
when Ange and Barn were served Baked Alaska at the Esquire Club and
Arkansas was where Thelma Lou's cousin Karen, that skeet-shooting
champeen, was from if memory serves me. Please keep this quiz going Paul
as I think it will be fun for everyone! And thanks for your generosity
in sharing your talents with those carving patterns - that's true
Mayberry spirit if ever there was one - I salute you!!

For the O's, Ohio is mentioned by Otis while sleeping when he is being
interrogated by Barney as to the location of a still.

Thanks for sending me all of this trivia! Glad I could do my share in
adding to it for the first time.
