Thanks Mary and Charlene for your kind words. I think this is a cool list!
Freddie, the best way I can figure to play "There is a Time" is to put a
capo on the 5th fret and use: Am, C, Am, C, Am, F, G, Am. I got that
listening to a record; they might have done it in a diff. key on the show.
I agree that this might be the prettiest song the Darlins do on the
show. It's got one of those timeless melodies that sounds centuries-old,
but was written by Rodney Dillard and Mitch Jayne.
I can think of two geographical references off the top of my head:
Barney's cousin Virgil is from New Jersey, and Opie's new friend in one
episode is from Erie, PA (the same episode where Barney calls his gun a
"Roscoe" and shoots it off on the Taylor's porch).
Hope everyone is well,
Jason

>>>Ronnie Schell was Duke on this episode - didn't someone mention that he
was also on TAGS?
Ronnie is in two color TAGS episodes: In "Emmett's Anniversary" he plays
Bernie the furrier, and in "The Foster Lady" he is the director of the TV
crew who comes to film a commercial in the Taylor home.
Ronnie, as Duke Slater, was more-or-less a regular cast member on GP-USMC.
At first, Duke was a private (one of Gomer's best buddies), then in 1967
Ronnie left the show to star in a new series called "Good Morning, World"
with Goldie Hawn. Unfortunately, that show didn't last very long, so he
came back to GP. His absence was explained as having been transferred to
another base and then transferred back, having been promoted to Corporal in
the meantime.

could make yourself a pretty penny off of these Paul.

I'll probably do Andy next year. I'm not out to make any money on these;
besides, to charge a fee might be a violation of some copyright law or
other. When folks ask where to get the patterns, just point them in the
right direction. Maybe the chapter can make some new friends this way.
BTW, did anybody try the Opie pattern? I made the pattern, of course, but I
never got around to actually carving it. I tried to make Opie look a little
more lifelike, and not quite so cartoon-ish.

>>> ... James Best...Jim Lindsey. Does anybody know if ole James is from
the same part of the Country [as George W. Bush]?
James Best was born in southern Indiana, in I believe, a town called
Corydon. However, at least one other Indiana town (I forget which) also
claims to be his birthplace. Perhaps he was born in one town and then his
family moved to the other when he was still a wee babe, hence the confusion.
>>>I've found the regional references, states mentioned on TAGS very
interesting. I wonder if we could put together a list of all the states
mentioned.
Sounds like fun! There are probably some states that were never mentioned,
so let's say cities count too, as long as it's clear that they're talking
about a specific city in a specific state. Let's take them in alphabetical
order. Who can name an episode that mentions Alabama? Next come Alaska,
Arizona, and Arkansas. That takes care of the A's.

Dear M.L.J.,
Sir, you do NOT need to apologize for being misinformed. Gracious, an
apology suggests that you did something intentionally to hurt or offend
someone and are in need of forgiveness. If anyone was offended by you
mentioning the wrong number of episodes, then they need to go soak
their head awhile, knock down a dose of that good Indian Elixir and take
a good, long nap!
Some of our group just get a bit hyper about the minutiae and want all
the facts to be in evidence in a proper and orderly manner. You can
forgive them this bit of obsessive behavior since they are the Keepers
of the Details and are a necessary part of any club. :0)
My best to you and yours!

Aunt Bee talks about West Virginia (Wheeling?), and I think Helen's neice was
from WV. When Barney was trying to get Otis to tell where a still was, Otis
gave crazy directions to the still which included going through WV. And in a
related show, when Andy and Helen were getting married (on RFD) Aunt Bee talks
about moving back to WV. Of course this was before she moved in with Sam and
Mike. So many times in television,
people from WV are portrayed as ignorant and good-for-nothing, so I appreciated
TAGS not acting that way. :) I'm proud to be WV born and bred!! :) Lisa

I agree that "There Is A Time' is the prettiest song Charlene has ever sung.
If someone does have the chords to the song a fellow TAGS member requested I
hope there's the lyric's too. It's one of the few shows I don't have recorded
so I can't copy the words. If anyone has them I'd appreciate getting them.
Thanks.

Hey y'all. I was doing my usual Halloween Night
ritual, watching The Ghost & Mr. Chicken staring Don
Knotts. You may as well say this movie is a regular
TAGS reunion. After watching this movie, so many
times that I can say the lines with the actors, I
noticed something I have missed before. I noticed the
kind gentleman who works with Don at the paper, his
name is Mr. Kelsey. Well, we finally get to meet Old
Man Kelsey. I have to wonder, since Old Man Kelsey is
now working at the paper, who is taking care of his
crik, woods & ocean?
BTW, when Ernest T. is learning his boundaries Canada
and Mexico are mentioned too. I know we were only
looking for US States, but you never know when a list
of countries will be made. Since we are on the
subject, did these references to other states have an
internal meaning? Were writers or cast members saying
"Hey" to everyone at home?

In the TAGS episode where the smart-alecky kid (Arnold, I think) gets
his bike impounded, what kind of bike is it ? Please don't tell me they say
the name 2 or 3 times during the show. I'll be completely humiliated. My 10
year old daughter already thinks its hilarious that I don't know.

Hi, This is for Gritton, Joe, A. I think the episode is where Barney dresses
up like a lady and pretends to clean the vault at the bank, and locks him
self in...I could be wrong, but that is the episode that came to mind. I'll
give it to you straight from the horse's mouth, Sheriff Taylor not
withstanding! Charlene

Hello all! let's see, off the top of my head I can recall the pickles being
carried all the way to Portland, Oregon. And...Aunt Bee and her family in
Morgantown,WVa., the shoe salesman and the preacher ("what's your hurry")
both from New York City. And I don't remember where "Tex" was going to run
away to.....perhaps Montana?....I'm sure a few more will pop into my head
while I'm doing dishes...that's how my mind works! Hello to you and
