The Summit Meeting was on last night and something caught my eye, I think.
When Andy and Barney are at the old man's house and he throws them off his
property, Andy is pushing Barney toward the car and Barney gets in the
driver's side and slides over. Just as he gets in the car and slides, I
think I saw a boom mike reflected in the windshield of the car. It was
quickly pulled out of the shot. Maybe somebody with this episode on tape
could check it out for me.

Subject: How about a Mayberry Survivor?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
My son and I love the show Survivor! He has also just started watching TAGS
with me it is a pleasure to see him enjoy the episodes that I have loved my
whole life. The other night after watching Survivor, and then watching TAGS,
we discussed the idea of a Mayberry Survivor. Has anyone ever suggested this
to the digest? I haven't posted in a while so I hate to be redundant. If
there was a Survivor in Mayberry who would win? My wife picked Andy, because
he is so resourceful. I say it would be one of our more primitive
citizens...like Ernest T. or Briscoe Darling. What are your picks?

Andy gets his chest all "puffed up" walks into the barber shop and starts
bragging to Floyd ... [who says] "Ohhh I get it Andy, youre a power
man..ooooooo power man."
You're probably thinking of "The Ball Game." Andy has reluctantly agreed to
serve as umpire for an upcoming Little League game, a job he did not want,
since Opie would be playing in the game. Floyd thought the job would go to
Andy's head.
BTW, this episode was inspired by a real baseball game. Ronny Howard was
playing in the game, and his real-life father Rance was umpire. Rance
didn't actually write the episode, but he did get story credit. Ronny loved
baseball, and Andy and Aaron Ruben (producer) always tried to arrange the
shooting schedule so that Ronny wouldn't have to miss any Little League
games.

What TAGS related stuff did y'all get for Christmas? I got a genuine
autographed (by the author) copy of The Best of Mayberry cookbook and a cool
door mat that says "A Barney NUT Lives Here" - I'll break the leg of the
first person to put a foot on it however. It will be placed lovingly in my
Andy Griffith Show shrine (spare bedroom).
Goober Linda - A nut by any other name is still a NUT !!

Baltimore Colts.<
Excellent reference! My favorite football player &
team of all time. I had the privelege of meeting Mr.
Unitas at BWI airport several years ago. It's
difficult for him to shake hands, and he signs his
autograph with his pen between his middle & 4th
finger, from having his hand broken and arthritis.
Sad to watch, but a true legend, he is. Maybe he
should have listened to Barney and gripped the ball on
the laces, instead of at the end, like Opie
referenced!

My son gave me "The best of Barney " on DVD for Christmas. It has eight
episodes with Barney at of course, his best. One of my favorites is "Dogs,
Dogs, Dogs". I love it when he talks about giraffe's being selfish. T.V.
land always leaves that part out.

My husband gave me the popular book with Bible study topics related to
Mayberry and The Wit and Wisdom of Andy Griffith's CD. It's pretty funny
stuff with some of Andy's early comedy routines.

Subject: Very special item on Ebay
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I wanted to let everyone know that I have an item on Ebay that I'm donating
all proceeds to the SEPTEMBER 11 Fund. It is an 8x10 print of an AL
HIRSHFELD drawing that was used in the 1960s for local and regional TV
guides. It has caricatures of Andy and Barney and it has been signed by both
AL HIRSCHFELD and DON KNOTTS. I guarantee both signatures to be authentic
and unique to this print (not copies). So, not only will the winner be
getting a very rare collectable, but they'll be helping a very worthy cause.
You can look at the item by going to the following web page. Thanks!

Subject: WFMY TAGS Question
I know from previous messages & discussions here that WFMY in Greensboro,
NC airs older versions of TAGS that typically are shown by TV Land and
other stations. I noticed yesterday that they seem to be showing the
epilogues to the episodes but they are chopping off the ending credits and
not showing them. Do they always do this or was it just a one time thing?

If I am not mistaken the episode could be when Andy gets picked to judge the
Miss Mayberry contest. Ellie is also in the episode, and has a nice ending,
when Andy picks the person, who really acts the way, Miss Mayberry should.

Anyone else get any TAGS related gifts for
the holidays?
Charlie Varney (Just for plain Guzzlin')
-----------------------------------------
Well Charlie,
I am proud to say that I received a lithographic print that was done by one
of our own WBMUTBB members - Mike Johnson. Now this ain't no advertisement
for him, just the plain truth. Mike's works are good - REAL GOOD. The one
I got for Christmas was his 2001 print titled "He's Gassed". It depicts the
jail cell (I think #2) with the crock that Otis spiked. Inside the cell you
can see Otis on his bunk that sagged just in the places that Otis sagged.
Words don't do this justice. This is the seventh print I have that Mike has
done. The medium he does his work in is pen and ink. When my wife got this
one I think Mike told her next year's print was going to be of the bandstand
("Looks spidery under thar to me!"). Anyone else got any of Mike's art
work??
Anyone interested in knowing how to get in touch with Mike Johnson, e-mail
me privately and I'll send you his address. I guess my favorite print I
have of his is the one that shows the squad car parked by a moon lit Myers
Lake. Inside the squad car you see two pairs of heads in the front and back
seats snuggled together. One of the heads has that familiar hat on it
pushed to the side Frank Sinatra style.
Hope everyone has a Happy and safe New Year.
