"The Summit Meeting was on last night and something caught my eye, I think.
When Andy and Barney are at the old man's house and he throws them off his
property, Andy is pushing Barney toward the car and Barney gets in the
driver's side and slides over. Just as he gets in the car and slides, I
think I saw a boom mike reflected in the windshield of the car. It was
quickly pulled out of the shot. Maybe somebody with this episode on tape
could check it out for me.

I've noticed this boom mike reflection in this episode also - one of the
few slight goofs in the whole series. The producers went to great lengths
to minimize the chance of these things happening - notice the sides and
tops of most of the vehicles are coated with a dull paste so it will be
hard to see the extra lighting, reflectors, etc. that were needed to evenly
distribute the lighting in a scene and reduce unwanted shadows.
Occasionally on interior close ups, when the camera either pulls in up
close on a character or pulls quickly back you can faintly see a camera
shadow but that's about it. The big Mitchell BNC 35mm cameras used to film
the show also had their own lights just above the lens to be used for close
ups, etc. It's always fun to get a glimpse of how they filmed the show.

"The Love God?" is a spoof of Hugh Hefner's Playboy, with Don Knotts as a
hapless pawn who winds up publishing a men's magazine.

Many fans don't like it, but it's my favorite Don Knotts movie. Don remains
true to his typical character, and only finds him in compromising situations
thru others greed and self-interest. Naturally, Don wins out in the end.
And his girlfriend is played by TAGS' own Darling sweetheart, Maggie
Peterson. Other TAGS alumni in the cast are Willis Bouchey, James
Westerfield, Ruth McDevitt, Herbie Faye and USMC's Roy Stuart.

Don doesn't particularly like the film, because it didn't do well at the box
office... he feels its topic, although handled tastefully and humorously,
alienated too many fans. But I feel it's an overlooked Knotts' comedy gem!

I was wondering if anyone knew when Andy and Barney started locking up the
guns on the gun rack at the courthouse? Or why? In the some of the earlier
episodes they aren't locked up.

Happy Holidays Mayberryites!

I was pleased to have received a couple of TAGS items from Santa: a tin
picture (11 x 14) of "FIFE SECURITY" and one of Andy, Barn, Opie &
Gomer..."THE MEN OF MAYBERRY". For my birthday in November, I also got a
Mayberry Memories cookbook...

Hope your holidays are "HAPPY, 'MaybERRY,' & BRIGHT!"

Best Wishes,

>What TAGS related stuff did y'all get for Christmas?

Sonora, California has a Christmas parade the day after Thanksgiving. My
family and my sister's family went to the parade then cruised the shops.
What should we find but a couple of pictures to hang on the wall of my office
area in our home! Since my sister drew my name for the gift exchange, and
the two pictures were in the agreed-upon price range, I "ooh'ed and aah'ed"
rather loudly until I attracted her attention.

"Oh, do you like those?", said she.

"Oh, yes, I love anything Mayberry.", said I, and then walked away to give
her the
privacy to buy them (so I would be surprised when I opened the gift *wink*
*wink*).

Guess what I found under the tree this year??? A framed print of a signed
photo featuring Barney dressed in Charlene Darling's wedding gown with Ernest
T. Bass, and a tin print called, "The Men of Mayberry" with a color photo
shot of Andy, Barney, Gomer, and Opie. Not necessarily valuable collectors
pieces, but they are MINE and I love them! Yah-oo!
My best to you and yours!

For Freddie Armstrong
They usually have badges on E-Bay. Just type in Mayberry or Barney Fife ro
Andy Griffith and you should come across one. Good Luck
