Does anybody know how many times Barney turned in his resignation, walked off
the job, etc?

What a sweet little boy you've got there, Kevin
& Astra! Makes me want another, I have two aged
14 and soon to be 11. Just remember, don't feed
him any blueberry pie, like Opie did, yet!

Congratulations to Kevin and the Mrs. on the new baby boy - good thing you're
getting him started off right with ample doses of TAGS. What a lucky boy -
unlike Horatio - he's only half a boy.
I get a kick out of the fake Southern accents too - they are hilarious. What
Hollywood does to Texas accents is criminal . "Ahm frum Texas" and I know
we do have a definite accent but it shore ain't nuthin' like depicted in
movies or in the old soap "Dallas".
Goober Linda - Since I AM from Texas - I have BIG hair like we're supposed to
- not a LOT of it - but what I have is BIG and I balance my beanie on top of
it all - it's a sight to behold.

I don't remember seeing my post about this on the list, so I'm reposting. If
you're reading this for the second time - Sorry!! :) Emmett referred to a
relation of his being from Nebraska. Seems he was big in city or county
government or something like that. I can't remember specifically, but I know
he mentioned Nebraska. Lisa

We've been working on NE, NV, NH, and NJ. We know that Cousin Virgil is
from New Jersey, but I don't think anybody has come up with the other three
yet.
Here's a hint for Nevada: a wedding trip
I don't know if there are references to NE or NH, but maybe somebody here
will come up with some.

Oh, I hope it was ok to answer on the list. I didn't know if we were supposed
to do that or not. :)

I was reading the January 2002 edition of Readers
Digest, and an article about "whistling". They
mentioned TAGS and the way the music with which the
show began: they said: "it took you back to a simpler
time, if it ever really existed"? I felt so sad to
think that the writer of the article thought that a
place "like" Mayberry never existed. I don't know the
age of the writer, but I do feel sorry for him/her. I
lived for 4 years in a small town in Mississippi that
truly reminded me of Mayberry, and still does. So I
know that places "like" Mayberry do exist. Anyone
else read this article?
Also I was watching the "loaded goat" episode last
night and "Hudge (the owner of the goat, and wasn't he
also "Willy Jack with the squeaky brakes"?) mentioned
the fact that Mayor Stoner was wanting the underpass
to be able to be built quickly, because his brother
had a filling station in the area? Maybe it was
farther out of town, but I always thought
"Wally's/Goober's" filling station was the only one
near Mayberry?? I never heard Wally's last name
mentioned, but maybe it was "Stoner"?

"Ni-ta - Jua-ni -ta! Ask thy soul if we should part! Ni-ta Jua- ni -ta!
Lean thou on my heart."
How many times both Andy Griffith and I, and all the students of Rockford
Street Grammar School in Mount Airy, North Carolina sang that song! One
of our music teacher, Ms. Coleman's, frequent choices from "The Golden Book
of Favorite Songs" - the required song book for all her students during
those formative years. The verse and the chorus gave all of us an
opportunity to "harmonize" if we were so inclined. I'm sure Ms. Coleman
was very appreciative of Andy's vocal talents. They were certainly
exceptional for a small town school.

Number of times Barney accidentally fired his pistol: 8. 3 into courthouse
floor, 1 into courthouse ceiling, 2 into the air, 1 into Andy's front porch,
and 1 into a tire on a squad car.
