That's o.k. Greg, we all make mistakes. That's why they put erasers on
pencils. I really enjoyed browsing the WGN site you gave. Loved looking
at the pictures, especially the one of Barney on the cycle and Andy in
the sidecar! Love that episode. All the best to you and yours. Mary

I have a question regarding a song I heard on the radio the other day
it was to the tune I shot the sheriff but instead it says
"Andy was the sheriff and Barney was his deputy" has anyone else heard this
and do you know where I could get it?
Thanks

Hey all,

Ever notice how in the "Ernest T. Bass Joins The Army" episode, Barney and
Andy are amazed that he got back in the cell and locked the door? What is so
amazing about that? If that were not possible than neither were the
countless punch lines that happened when Barney would lock himself and
others in the cell by letting the door just close. (He even does it in the
epilogue of that same episode!)

Just another example of Mayberry logic. Any others?

Jim and Ev's propensity for the middle initial "T" also extended to
"M*A*S*H." Producer Gene Reynolds hired the team to write the second episode
of season 4, which introduced Harry Morgan as Col. Sherman Potter.

Their script made one little, additional touch: Col. Sherman "T." Potter.

In all of the interviews I have seen, and everything that I have read about
George Lindsey and his comments on Goober, he has repeatedly said that he
considered it a huge break and was very grateful. I love the line he has used
more than once, "They was hirin' Goobers and I happened to be there."

It may well be that he felt sometimes that he was too typecast as Goober, since
he is permanently identified with the role (he is very frequently introduced as
George "Goober" Lindsey, using all three names). He may have even wished, from
time to time, that he could erase the memory and let people see his abilities
as an actor without having that association so firmly in their minds. No one
could blame him for that.

Contrary to his Goober image, I have heard that he is a very bright individual,
with a keen business sense and a good understanding of the business he is in.
So, I would find the actions described by the DJ completely out of character
and very unlikely, even if they were a reflection of how Mr. Lindsey might feel
once in a while.

That's just my two cents worth. Any time I hear something bad about our friends
from Mayberry, I just forget it (and ignore it) and remember all the good I
have heard about them.

Subject: TAGS and Star Trek

Some one had mentioned earlier about wanting to see a web page like the one
that shows mayberry buildings in the Superman TV show. Only they wanted to
see the buildings in Star Trek episodes. Well I have been collecting the Star
Trek
series on DVD and just got the 2nd episode that had been shot on the Mayberry
set
this weekend. So using my computer and its image capture capabilities I got
pictures from
both episodes of buildings in the 40 acre lot used in these two episodes and
made a
web page. The two episodes were "Miri" and "The City on the Edge of Forever".
In "Miri", Mayberry is extremely run down looking and trashed out. But in "The
City
on the Edge of Forever" Mayberry is looking real nice. "Miri" was Episode 12
and
"City..." was episode 28. I have no idea of what the filming order was for
Star Trek episodes tho.
So if you want to go take a look at it head over to:

I don't know about asking him to say Judy, Judy, Judy, but I do know that a
couple of years ago George Lindsey was at a Piggly Wiggly grocerers
convention signing autographs. There was a long line and someone told him
that my niece wanted his autograph. He saw that she was not very old and
would not enjoy standing in line for very long, so he had them bring her up
and signed his autograph for her so she wouldn't have to wait a long time. He
was very kind and friendly to her. I think he is a good guy.

Goober Linda - I think I'll just hang around at Wally's for a while longer.

The first time Ange and Barn met Ernest T. Bass and had to go up to the
Darling's house, Barney was sleeping when Ange came in to get him to go up
there (about 4 a.m., I think). Barney was impossible to wake up, even with an
alarm clock going off in his ear and then Ange just snapped his fingers and
Barney woke up! At one point, Barney had his eyes opened but was snoring!
Also, there was a time, and I can't remember the exact episode, but
Barney was sitting outside of the courthouse with his eyes shut, obviously
napping, when Andy came along and asked if he was sleeping. Of course, Barney
said that he was just watching people and trying to look as though his eyes
were shut so that people wouldn't know he was watching them.

>>4. What were the only words spoken by Doug Darling?<<

I know that Mitch Jayne, is a live appearance with the Dillard mentioned
that he had the only line that any of the Darling spoke. He said it was
"'bout it pop" when talking about eating Aunt Bee's food.

>>I noticed someone saying that since Andy referred to Aunt Bee's brother as
something about a brother of hers that drank, that some people thought maybe
Aunt Bee is an aunt by marriage. <<

Another point on this discussion. When Opie has trouble in Math, Aunt Bee
comments that she did also and says something like "Maybe its in our
blood"..this is another fact for direct kin rather than related by marriage.

I noticed another repeated theme. Trained noticers have probably noted
this, but I have not seen it in the Digest for a while. In Mayberry goes
Hollywood, while cleaning up the jail Barney tells Andy a story about an
individual who went to Hollywood. He was on a tour bus and the bus stopped
in front of Gary Cooper's house. They got out to look around. A lady picked
up Gary Cooper's newspaper and a maid came out and told them to leave. Of
course this same thing was repeated when the Taylor's went to Hollywood, and
Opie did the same thing in front of Cesear Romero's house. Of course in
those days, it was years between seasons, so it was totally OK.

I've got another question for bucket thinkin'

Who all in Mayberry was either rumored to be dead but wasn't, or was duped
into thinking they were dead or dying?

That's somethin you just can't talk enough about SIN
The Untrained Voice
