You're right, it was "The Danny Thomas Show." But it's an easy mistake to
make, since those episodes are syndicated under the "Make Room for Daddy"
title from the show's first few years, including the one that's previously
run on TV Land and Nick at Nite. As for "TV Land to Go," it's actually a fun
little book but I certainly wouldn't swear by it as reference material.

Hi All,

I just wanted to say that I truly enjoyed this past weekend in Mt Airy. It
was nice to meet Jeff Koontz and Allen and a few others. I thought the
performance of Love Letters was excellent. Certainly different from
anything that I had ever seen Howard Morris and Betty Lynn do. I also
enjoyed meeting them at the autograph session. It was truly an honor to
meet two such talented people.

Thanks to everyone who put this past weekend together. It was wonderful!

"Howard Morris and Betty Lynn gave such an outstanding performance last
night
at "Love Letters." There was a full house at Cross Creek for the sold out
show and I think everyone enjoyed the whole evening. The Surry Arts Council
was fortunate to be able to host the event."

I'll second that, Jeff! It was a great play and a real treat to see these
two talented performers "live" on stage. I was very fortunate to have a nice
visit with them and especially enjoyed talking with Howard Morris about the
early days of live television on "Your Show of Shows" and his first movie,
"Boys Night Out" with Kim Novak. A quote from "Ernest T." - "Boy, that Kim
Novak was really something!" Always great to see you Jeff, along with Tanya
and everyone associated with the Surry Arts Council - it's an incredible
value to be a member of such a fine organization.

I think maybe Gomer has a separate room behind the filling station and
didn't wake up when those dudes were pilfering stuff. I thought I
remembered a poem that said something about Johnny Shaftoe going to sea
and coming back to marry me. Does anyone know anything about this one?

Since most fans of TAGS also liked Andy's movie "Angel in My Pocket" I
guess they would remember the organ music he inadvertently played for
that showgirl when he visited the nearby grand hall. There's a piece
that sounds just like it on Enya's best of CD I got recently; it's title
is Marble Halls. Paul, do you know anything about this?

Mike - re: trained noticer award

It's nothing formal like a lodge or anything (no root beer
or meeting night) and ok, there isn't really a membership
card, I was just recognizing you for pointing that out.

Every once in a while somebody objects when we old timers
point out the inconsistencies and we have to remind them
that we aren't complaining or criticizing, just "noticing"
because we are such avid fans. I never thought about the
fact that Gomer should have been on the premises at night
either, thanks for pointing that out. Here's an old posting
of mine that I repost every now and then, this one is from a
couple of years ago - where I laid out my history of Gome's
mechanical ability. I don't know if you've seen it before.

Funny how the word "mature" can be interpreted. I think of myself as
"mature" and I've even been out with a registered nurse! But is this a
play that Andy could take Aunt Bee to?

I wrote in yesterday about the new TV Land book. I mentioned that it listed
"Danny meets Andy Griffith" as a episode of Make Room for Daddy. I remembered
last night that this is an error. It was from The Danny Thomas Show. Another

I think Andy and Aunt Bee would both enjoy "Love Letters," but Opie might
not understand some of the humor or topics discussed.

>Hey Jeff, are you related to Myra at the "lungerray" shop...?

There isn't a Myra in my family, however it does make a fellow proud to see
the same spelling of Koontz used in the script. There are numerous
versions - Koonce, Coonz, Kunz, Coonce, but as Barney says, "Well sooner or
later, somebody had to spell it right." hahaha

correct him about his Jailsick one-liner and I'M the
numbskull that needs correctin'!!! I found the entry
in Mayberry 101.Ernest T. was saying Jelsick, walk with
me,Jelsick dance with me................My
apologies,Doug, now excuse me while I put my bucket on.

My husband, son (Ange) and I had the privilege to see "Love Letters" this past
weekend in Mt. Airy. Betty Lynn and Howard Morris gave an outstanding
performance, and they were so sweet at the autograph session.
It was wonderful to be back in Mayberry. We introduced our son to the famous
Pork Chop Sandwich, (which he truly enjoyed) and he was thrilled to get a
haircut from Mr. Hiatt at Floyd's.
Another treat was finally getting to stop at the Mayberry Cafe in Danville IN.
What a darling place, and a real tribute to The Andy Griffith Show!
We are so fortunate to have been able to meet with so many fans of the show
from all over the country, and have come to know so many of them as family. We
owe that to TAGSRWC. Thank you.

I was at the performance at Cross Creek as well and what a superb performance
by Howard and Betty. I was fortunate enough to see Betty and give her a kiss
before she left... she is a dear friend.

All the best in Mayberry,
Jason
