In the February 2002 Mature Living Magazine (a Southern Baptist magazine
produced by Lifeway), there is an article entitled, 20 Ways To Enrich Your
Life. Number 5 is, "Watch every rerun of M.A.S.H., Columbo, or The Andy
Griffith Show." By the way, I'm really not old enough yet to read the
magazine. :-)

answers from here and there

>>>As far as I can recollect the only couples to ever divorce on TAGS were
of course, Charlene and Dud....The other couple never seen, but who
divorced; were the couple Barney told Andy about
while they were sitting in the courthouse or maybe it was the squad car.
Wasn't their name "Harry and Lorraine Felcher"<<<

It was Howard, but other than that, you're right on! If we are allowed to
extend into Mayberry RFD, (or was it a reunion show) I believe Thelma Lou
divorced Gerald Whitlock (?) and then married Barney.

>>>Isn't Andy out hunting when Goober's girl from the diner comes looking
for him, during the color years? And don't forget that campout when Barney
and Gomer go looking for wild fowl. Dixon<<<

Thanks Dixon and others for answers to my 'hunting' question. I think
you're right on all counts. Crow hunting with Thelma Lou's cousin and the
above mentioned instances. How could I forget Barney trapping that pheasant
bird.

>>>Hey everybody. Is it my imagination or did I see a sink in cell number 2
at one time?

If it was your imagination, it was mine too! But it was one of those sinks
like at O'Malley's place, no runnin water. Barney must've had to pump it
out back.

>>>I will go as far as to say that's (watching for inconsistencies/mistakes)
the very mark of being an avid fan. And that goes for any TV show or movie,
not just TAGS. Ask any "Star Trek" fan, even the most dyed in the wool,
pointed-ear-wearing Trekkies, and they can pinpoint the problems in every
episode. Same with me LOL...<<<

WILL YOU HELP US??....I mean, uh, them... Let's start a club. We'll call
it the Mayberry Trained Noticers Minutemen Club! Ready to answer questions
in a minute!
Yes Goober was called Beasley once, but after he learned to sit on a bench
rather than squat like a squirrel, they changed his name to Pyle.

States...I mentioned Spokane Washington (tiger eye ring) the other day.
Also, a proud Wisconsin resident has reminded us of Frank Meyers' utensil
with the skyline of Milwaukee Wisconsin. I'm stuck on Vermont. (the movie
White Christmas doesn't count, right) and gave up on Utah.

All,

One of the little pleasures I get in watching the AG Show is reading the
prices
posted on the window of Foley's Market. Some real bargains there.

I just thought everyone might like to know that in the March issue of
Biography magazine, they list the top 15 rated biographies they have
featured.

Is there any question why they would list Ron Howard and Don Knotts?

Ron Howard:
"Young Opie from The Andy Griffith Show grew up to become one of Hollywood's
most respected directors-and one of its nicest guys.
Don Knotts:
"Despite extensive film and television work, he will forever be Barney Fife,
the lovable, fumbling, hypertense deputy sheriff on The Andy Griffith Show."

If anyone is looking for it at the newsstand's or bookstore's, it's the
Biography magazine that features Denzel Washington on the cover.

I don't think the proceedings were dug up because the Darling boys stopped
Andy. Then poor Barney had to get on that horse to ride East to West - or
was that North to South? The horse wasn't too sure about the direction,
either... :) Lisa >>

You are absolutely right !! - I knew that - I just wanted to see if anyone
was paying attention. That is one of my very favorite episodes - Barney
says "Black makes me look so thin".
Goober Linda - In Black - I'm still "full figured"

>>>Did the Taylors get the paper in the morning and the jail didn't get it
until 3pm? Or did the Taylors take
another newspaper?

They probably get more than one paper. On episodes where Andy reads the
"morning paper," that could be a paper from Mt. Pilot or Raleigh.

We know from "Opie's Fortune" that the Mayberry Gazette comes out on
Wednesday (it arrives at the courthouse at 3:00 p.m. in that episode). In
that same scene, Barney says that Mayberry does not have a daily paper, but
we are never told exactly how often it comes out (perhaps once or twice a
week, perhaps more frequently).

While we're on the subject, there are a couple of episodes in which Andy can
be seen reading a real Mt. Airy newspaper on screen! Obviously, he did this
as a way of saying "hey" to the folks back home.

Hey all:

I hope everyone is doing well. I was watching TAGS
last night. One of the episodes shown was Opie's
Three Wishes (I don't know the exact title). Anyway,
I just have to comment on how funny Don Knotts is in
this episode. His facial expressions are his true
comedy. My favorite expression of all, in this
episode, is when Opie gets the jack knife he wished
for. The look of shock and amazement is funnier than
anything Don could have said.

By the way, what is a jack knife? Before you ask,
yes, I'm a frilley, froo-froo girl. I have no idea
about things like that.

Didn't the "Man in a Hurry," AKA Mr. Tucker (of the Buffalo Tuckers?), also
play Mr. Foster of Foster Furniture Polish fame (the latter being in a
color episode)? Also, didn't Jack Prince play a farmer who was shooting at
Andy, Barney and the man from the state in an early B/W episode before he
showed up again as Rafe Hollister? Just a couple of random thoughts.

The bit with Frank Myers finding the spoon(?) with the skyline of
Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a classic bit of TAGS writing. It wouldn't be New
York or San Francisco. The fact that it was Milwaukee instead is hilarious
to me every time I see that episode !
Its the little things like that on TAGS that make you watch and think to
yourself "I know that person." The writers and, of course, Ange himself,
plainly knew a lot about human nature and translated that knowledge into
"real" characters.
If you know what I mean.

Ryan, good catch on the newspaper "issue" - hah!
Looks like we've got another trained noticer on hand here

Anyway, I wanted to comment on the fact that right after
Malcolm announces the balmy temperature, he covers Andy's
legs with a rather heavy looking blanket. A bit warm for
that kind of treatment, I'd think.

Andy already had a tendency to get hot knees and this
couldn't have helped.
