Watching Howard trying to get into the Golden Door to Good Fellowship last
night and I got to see a flub I think I've heard about but never actually
caught.
Burt Mustin is in the episode and is listed in the credits as Jud yet as
lodge members are filing out after the meeting, Andy calls him Burt, clear
as day. I didn't see any hint that anybody in the cast reacted to the
error.
Anyway, something else fun to watch for in that episode.

>>>I wonder how many times Ernest T, Bass threw rocks and you heard the

Michael, I have no idea how many, but that another great "unseen scene"
>>>I would say that the longest most passionate kiss on TAGS was the one
Andy
gave Helen on the 'Andy's Rival' episode. Helen was arguing at a fever pitch
with Andy before he applied the lip lock. The embrace is given a comedic
touch with Goober quickly entering and exiting the scene.<<<<
Brian, That was one that I had in mind also. Another time that Andy and
Helen had a great "make-up kiss" was after a fight was when Andy's
good-looking relative (Gloria?) stayed at the Taylor house, and this time
Helen was the jealous one. As Gloria and her finance are smoochin' in the
living room, Andy and Helen embrace in the kitchen, leaving Aunt Bee in an
awkward position. The Sharon Despain liplock someone mentioned was a good
one also. How about when Andy had Thelma Lou on the front porch and tries
to smooch her right back to Barney? ... or Melissa (the swindler) with
Barney?? 'Course we never see Barney and Thel sittin' on her sofa watching
that doctor show with a pan of cashew fudge. (that's an unseen scene) I'm
sure there's a few more passionate kisses.
They're doin' it! They're doin' it!

The most passionate kiss I remember is the one Andy gave SueAnn Langdon
(Mary) when they were parked in the convertable with the top down. I thought
he was going to swallow her.
Goober Linda - A kiss on the jaw will do just fine thank you.

What is the whole story behind how TAGSRWC started? I know Allen, Paul or
Jim Clark can tell the story.
Also thank you to Jim Clark and Allen Newsome for the eBullet. A big thank
you to Paul Mulik for his knowledge of TAGS.
Welcome to the new members of TAGS.

TAGS fans,
Last Friday, while stuck in an ice storm in downtown Denver, I was
listening to Paul Harvey's the rest of the story. It took me about two
sentences in to know he was talking about Andy Griffith as he mentioned
"the little boy from Mt. Airy". Does anyone know where I could get a
transcript of that presentation? It was almost as good as the one he did a
few years ago that's the forward to Jim Clark and Ken Beck's book. Just
'bout made me cry.

One of the sites that shows off the 40 Acres Set puts Wally's right across
the road from Camp Henderson.

It depends on who you ask. George "Goober" Lindsey has said Frances Bavier
did need her space, but reports of her being especially difficult were
exaggerated. Not too many behind the scenes scandal-tabloid stories come
from Mayberry, so wags often have to take what they get.

"Last night in Goober's Replacement, we got several clear shots of a
chainlink fence, gate and a little booth off about 30 yards to the left of
the station. Sorta looked like one of the gates Gomer used to guard in the
Marines. Since the Gomer set was on the other side of 40 Acres from
Mayberry, could it be the station was closer to the "base" than it was the
court house?"
Dan, I believe you're correct about the location of Wally's. There were
several interesting discussions on this recently and a link to the 40 acres
aerial photo showing Wally's location. I think this is also close to the
site that was previously used for the "Real McCoys'" farm.
"I think I heard or read somewhere that
Aunt Bea was not only a villain in an episode of "The Lone Ranger" but that
she pretty much was a villain behind the scenes of TAGS. Is this true?"
Marty, I've read several sources that say that Frances Bavier was not at all
a "villain", but simply kept to herself when not needed on the set. Many of
the actors who worked with her spoke of her genuine kindness and concern for
them even though she was a quiet and sensitive person.

One of the best places to read the story is in the Archives of THE BULLET that
are located on the TAGSRWC wb site. The story, written by Jim Clark, is called
"TAGSRWC...THEN AND NOW" and is from the very first issus of The Bullet
published back on October 3, 1982.

In the Bobby Fleet episode, where the band fills in
for the Mayberry Marching Band, at the end of the
march, the drum beats on long after the drummer has
stopped drumming.
This episode has Barney & his cymbals. What a hoot!
Was the Bobby Fleet band actual like the Dillards?

Hey everyone,
I am so excited I could "dance a jig", as my grandma
used to say. I heard about "Mayberrry in the
Midwest", called my sister and she is buying our
tickets as I write this. I can't wait to visit with
all the folks from our beloved Mayberry. I hope also
to get to shake your hand again Allan, and tell you
how much I appreciate all you do to bring joy to all
of us here at the digest. I walked up to you at
Mayberry Days two years ago, and you remembered my
name from the digest. Boy was I thrilled! I hope all
of you in this part of the country get to attend, it
sounds like it is going to be tons of fun. I have
often wished there was a gathering closer to home so I
could attend, and now my wish has come true. ... Do
you think Count Iz Van Taleki (sp) had anything to do
with it....., maybe I have two more wishes coming. I
will have to put a bucket on my head and just think
about that!
.....Calvin Coolidge had to say something important
... after all he was president....
See you in New Castle Indiana,
Anita Carpenter

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Walked in on the Missez yesterday watching post #159
TAGS episodes. After counseling her in the error of
her ways, I broke my #1 personal rule and grudgingly
watched, and had 2 observations: The age of Mayberry
was discussed in the episode where all the townsfolk
swore their ancestors were Colonel's, in the Battle of
Mayberry, or Battle of Tachahoochie? Creek, as Mr.
Strongbow, the resident "Native American" called it.
They said it took place in the late 1700's, I believe?
That's like over 10 generations of Lawsons, Taylor's,
Strongbow's, and Edwards'. Strange how their last
names never changed in all that time. All their
ancestors must have been males, even Clara Edwards,
who previously stated that she had been married
before....but wasn't his name the late Mr. Johnson?(he
loved her pickles) Maybe she reverted back to her
maiden name after his passing. Curious, curious.
Also, the Keevy Hazelton episode was on. The chord
structures and melodic phrasings of "My Hometown" were
way beyond Bee and Clara's grasp to write. Did Earle
Hagen write that tune? Keevy did have a good voice.
I think it was him singing, but certainly not playing
guitar. The other guitarists were playing for real.
Was that ensemble assembled by Mr. Hagen? Here's some
links to him:

I've been thankin' on this subject, and I may have a reason for the inconsistent
age of Mayberry. If you know your southern history (or if you don't know it but
you read Gone With the Wind like me) you'll find out that Atlanta, GA was called
Marthasville and Terminus before it was called Atlanta. Maybe, just maybe,
Mayberry was called by another name before it was called Mayberry and it had
this
other name before the Revolution and then it was changed to Mayberry before the
War Between the States. I know we can't really answer that question, but maybe
that's one possibility!? Lisa

>>The location of Wally's on the 40 Acres Lot has always been a mystery.<<
Allow me to enlighten you. If you have the arial shot of 40 acres, you first
need to locate the quansit huts that were used for Gomer Pyle USMC (they're
in the upper left hand corner). If you imagine that the top of the photo is
north, then look just south of the quansit huts and you'll see a row of trees
that almost run east and west. Wally's is located just north of those trees,
but the trees block your view of the station. How did I know this? Watch
the color episode "Goobers Contest" and in a few scenes at the station, not
only do you see the fence and guard house, but you can also see the quansit
huts. I think that they got wise to this before completing the filming,
because there is a semi parked in front of the quansit huts in some of the
scenes.
