TAGS fans,
Saw an episode of Gunsmoke this weekend in which Gentleman Dan Caldwell
played a con man (type casting?) who was manipulating Former Heavyweight
Champ Jeff Pruitt (Alan Hale Jr.). The highlight of the episode was
watching the Skipper and Matt Dillon have a big knock-down drag-out fight
that destroyed a front porch.

I was watching the episode where opie takes care of the baby birds. There
was
one line in the episode that I could swear Andy said (to aunt bee): "H_ll
of a job
Opie's doing with those birds". I rewound and rewound and kept hearing the
same
thing. I've never noticed it before. Anyone else notice or am I hearing
things?

I was watching one of my TAGS tapes yesterday and noticed what I think might
qualify me for the noble title of "trained noticer." When Aunt Bee won all
those prizes on the game show in Hollywood, she ended up selling all of them
due to her friends' jealousy. All of them except, according to Aunt Bee
herself, "the TV and the garbage disposal." A few episodes later (I have
dubbed the episodes in the order that they first aired) Aunt Bee loses Aunt
Martha's pin and uses the insurance money to buy---a new garbage disposal!
She tells Andy, "I hated to give up the one I won in Hollywood." Anybody
ever noticed that before?
"Oh Opie, will you paint, just paint!"

I am really glad to belong to a club with wholesome
values and Christian morals. I am not one to solicit for
Hollywood but my wife and I went to see "A Beautiful
Mind"-Directed by Ron Howard and all I can say is Ron is
a true genius and took notes as a child while playing
Opie. The movie has to be the best movie I've ever seen.
I also noticed at the Blockbuster of a movie Ron starred
in as a out of control driver of a fast car but cant
remember the name of it. I'll get back with the title
when I return my current movies.

Hey Everybody,
Mary Ellen noticing a ring on Aunt Bee's left hand is a goooood
observation. Aunt Bee being a widow would be a hard one to know since she
never mentioned being married. I think she got real close to marrying Mr.
Goss because her and Andy and Opie talked about her getting married to
Mr. Goss on the front porch one fine Mayberry evening. I personally liked
the Senator the best out of all the beau's Aunt Bee had on the show.
Gotta go for now.
Have a great Mayberry day everybody!

We have a large, close-up photo of Aunt Bee and Opie we got from a shop in
Mt Airy and the ring she is wearing is not a wedding band. It is very tight
on her finger so it is probably the same one from the show.

Subject: Mr. Schwamp
Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 16:29:51 -0600
I don't have any information on the identity of Mr. Schwamp/Schwump, but I
did post a note a year ago this past Christmas that I spotted Mr. Schwump in
the original version of "Christmas in Connecticut", which was filmed about
1945. He was sitting along the wall during the Christmas dance at the
Community Hall (in the stag line, obviously!). He's not listed in the
credits and as near as I can tell, he wasn't listed on the www.imdb.com
listing for this movie. That was a Warner Brothers movie...wonder if Mr.
Schwump shows up in any other WB pictures as an "extra" during the
40's-50's? The funny thing was that Mr. Schwump looked just like he did in
TAGS and that movie was 20 years prior to his TAGS appearances, give or take
a few years! Same bad hair/toupee, and same grin. BTW, our little fat
Mayor Pike (Dick Elliot) was also in that movie as the Judge.
BTW 2: We were watching Episode #1 of Mayberry RFD last night ("The
Wedding"), and whom should we spot at Andy's bachelor party but Mr. Schwump!
Guess he was one of Andy's 10-12 best friends in Mayberry at the time. The
odd thing about that scene is that Barney was not in attendance at the
bachelor party, but was there as best man for the wedding the next
day...must have been on a stakeout at a supermarket in Raliegh that night!
Keith in Nebraska.
Andy (nodding): "Mr. Schwump."
Mr. Schwump (grinning): " ."

Michael Oliver asked about Andy and Aunt Bee
impersonator's?? I was at Mayberry Days two years
ago, and in the parade there was a lady in a car who
was dressed and looked like Aunt Bee. I never saw
anyone impersonating Andy, but that has been my only
trip to Mt. Airy.
.....curious....curious.....

OK all you trained noticers please put on your buckets and tell me all the
different locations that Oval Window shows up around Mayberry? I remember
seeing it at Hilda May's house in the episode where Barney locks up the
entire town. I also seem to remember it being in the hotel lobby and in
Miss Crump's classroom. Can anyone think of other locations around town
that it shows up in? Maby after everyone takes a stab at it, Paul will send
us the "Official" list of locations where it can be spotted along with the
"Official Varification"?
Also has anyone ever noticed the end of the "Punch In The Nose" episode that
when Barney comes back to the coarthouse with Goober, the "Star Witness,"
that when he passes the barber shop, there is a barber standing out in front
of the barbershop and It certainly isnt our beloved Floyd? Heck, I dont
even think its our beloved Allan. Maby he still had that two chair shop.
Remember he had the magazines to swing it.
I just gave you an "A" in breathing!!

I wanted to remind WBMUTBB readers we are still compiling the Mayberry
Poem at Mayberry USA - http://pub78.ezboard.com/bmayberryusa. We now
have 272 lines by many different writers about the characters and
memories of Mayberry. The verses were included in last year's Mayberry
souvenir edition of Christian Activities, and also run on the Christian
Activities website at:
http://www.christianactivities.com/dailybread/story_poetspen.asp?ID=1599.
Wally's Garage in Mt. Airy has asked permission to reproduce some of the
verses in calligraphy to hang on their walls!
You can read the Mayberry Poem or add a verse or two or three at
http://pub78.ezboard.com/fmayberryusafrm41 Help us write the world's
l-o-n-g-e-s-t poem about Mayberry!
Also at Mayberry USA, we have a new forum for Mayberry singles. If you
