Regarding Danny Taylor's message. I just loved Parley Baer, Mayor Roy
Stoner. He was a great character actor. It was my pleasure to meet and
interview him for a story four or five years ago in Cincinnati at an Old
Radio Show convention. He was very nice to us and talked a lot about his
experiences on Mayberry, posed for pictures and signed all our Mayberry
stuff. He wasn't back the next year as his health was not good. Does anyone
know how he is or did he die and I missed it? I hope that's not the case.

On September 22, 1969, viewers were introduced to Andy Taylor, Jr on the
'Mayberry R.F.D. episode 'Andy's Baby.' Andy was forty-three at the time.
Opie was fifteen years old and playing basketball. Andy was working for the
State Bureau of Investigation and resided in Charlotte. The Reverend summed
it up best when he said that having four godfathers was a "departure from
orthodox" and that Andy Jr. is "truly blessed."
Andy Jr. has sinced disappeared. He was sixteen when Andy and Helen returned
to Mayberry on April 13, 1986. His whereabouts are unknown. I think Barney
should put out an A.P.B. and conduct a private investigation.

Maude, the prison escapee from TAGS, who liked to
dance with Barn, was in 'Jeannie' this morning. Maude
fell in love Major Nelson, after eating Jeannie's
favorite candy, Pipchicks.
Pipchicks had the unusual side-effect of making you
fall in love with the first person you see. Maude had
short blonde hair and played an Air Force officer.

In the Leaning Church episode, Howard Sprague is using
a diagram to show the church's leaning problem. Above
him on the wall is a picture of Jesus. Is that a
picture depicting the Scripture about Jesus as
teacher?
In the scene in the church at the end of the episode
(sans epilogue), Anje turns around and tells Howard
what a fine solution he came up with. Howard responds
"Oh not me, not me". Then Howard raises his eyes
upward. How many times will we see that in todays tv
programming?
Also, is the Mayberry Community Church affiliated with
any denomination?

On TV Land's Dick Van Dyke show today, I noticed that our own Ernest T.
(Howard Morris) directed the episode. I'm sure he directed many more
that I just haven't noticed.

I hope all of the NC residents on the digest got the chance to watch the the
Mt. Airy episode of "North Carolina Now" tonight. As promised, Betty Lynn
and Howard Morris were highly featured, along with Jim Clark and other
TAGSRWC members. I was surprised to see that my son and I made the cut,
too. I was relieved to see that they cut my embarrassing moment, though. If
you saw it, my son was the 7-year old in the gray sweatshirt who's favorite
is Floyd, and I had the yellow tee-shirt and blue & green suede jacket. We
have the autographed photos and bricks to remember that day, and now we have
a video tape, too.
It has occurred to me that since Andy Griffith lives in NC, there's a chance
that after watching him on TV for so many years, he's now watched me on TV,
too.
Makes ya thaink!

TVLand finally got their website back up, and I was
checking their April schedule. The good news is that
by April 12, the b&w episodes return. The bad news is
that they start with #3, and skip several others,
including 5, 8, etc. But if you check out the
previous episodes, they showed everyone in order, like
243, 244, 245, 246, etc. They did this last time they
completed the cycle. They skipped a bunch of the ones
from 1-159, but showed everyone from 160-249. "I
Wonder what causes that?" It's a shame they skip the
first 2, "The New Housekeeper", and "The Manhunt". I
just hope they run #77, after 76, and before 78. Oh,
well. I guess any 1-159 Andy is better than no 1-159
Andy.

Thanks for the writer who brought attention to the color episode when Aunt
Bee has the cooking show. Opie expressions (about Andy's cooking) are
priceless. Being a Dad and doing a lot of meal prop around my house to
balance out the load...I've often thought that Andy was pretty wimpy for not
being able to fix a meal. We see the same scenario in the B&W episode when
Aunt Bee is in jail..and also, I think, when she is out or town to care for
a sick relative.
Watching more closely, I realized that cooking then was a lot bigger
deal. He couldn't just pull something out of the freezer and follow the
instructions like I usually do. Also, in the color episode, it illustrates
that "marketing" was also a daily chore, because fresh fruit, vegetables and
meat were often used. I now have a greater appreciation for the "Aunt
Bee's" of that day, and realize that I've got it pretty easy.
>>>The Travel Channel will have a show on this Sunday April 7 at 9:00 PM
ET<<
I taped this, but haven't had a chance to watch yet. Any reviews?
Allan awesome Newsome..Thanks for the Quotes of the Day! Most of us know
many of the one liners..but these dialogues are precious gems that you have
to know the full conversation to appreciate. I think you may have
transcribed these a while back, but it must have taken some effort. We
appreciate it.
"The quality of a fine dialogue, that is familiar to the reader, brings back
vivid recollections of those words when actually spoken by the unforgettable
characters"
Did Calvin Coolidge say that? Buzz Fluehart? or maybe just...

When Andy pulls his watch out at Howard's party to see it's almost 9:00 and
time to go, he pulls the watch out of his right front coat pocket. Strange
place to carry a watch. And speaking of watches, any time I remember Andy
referring to a personal timepiece, it always was a pocket watch, never a
wristwatch.
Aunt Bee said something odd while they were all waiting on the election
results for Sam Jones' run for Head of City Council. She said something
about the rural vote. Odd for a city election to have a rural vote.
