How about a two-liner:

Barney: "The next time I want a haircut I'll just stick my head in a
pencil sharpener."

Floyd (the old Floyd, William Baldwin): "Yes sir, and it'd fit too!"

One more favorite:

Briscoe Darling: "I can take some manners and I can take some cleaning
up and I can take a bossy mouth, but I ain't about to be beat to death
with no spoon!"

OK, OK, I've said it before, but when it comes to one-liners, Briscoe
Darling is right up there with the best of them. I could probably fill up
the Digest with a list of Briscoe's best, but right up there as number one
would be:

I ain't about to be beat to death with no spoon!

How about when Barney resigns and ends up in jail? I think it's in the
Citizen's Arrest episode.

He and Otis begin arguing. "Barney's in jail," Otis says several times. To
which Barney replies, "Nip it, nip it, nip it." Otis says, "Who's gonna
make me?" To which Barney replies, "Me, myself and I!" To which Otis
replies, "That's three people." A great moment.

How about any of Barney's speeches to anyone in jail. "Here at the Rock, we
have two rules..." Or his speech to Opie's friends. "Now, boys..." I could
go on and on.

His attempt to get an apparently sleeping Otis to tell him the location of
the still is a classic.

Best of luck to you and yours.

I noticed in "Opie and Mike" the other night Andy and Sam referred back to
the time Opie crossed a bully. Obviously Mike's situation was much different
(the bully was much larger than Mike, not just Opie's size and obnoxious).
In the episode about Aunt Bee learning to fly, Howard mentions his brief
experiment in living on a tropical island.

Hey, I love these one-liners! They have been entertaining and refreshing.
Keep 'em comin'! In only a handful of words, they show the creative humor
and outstanding writing of TAGS! Wish I'd written them all down just as they
came in from day 1.

Hello TAGGERS:

I don't have an episode I don't particularly care for
that I have come to like. But, I do turn the color off
so I can watch the color episodes in b&w.

'Cept for when Miss Helen Crump is in the episode.
She's purtier in color!

Hey Ya'll,
My favorite one-liner is in the episode "Barneys New

Also Allison & Doug Johnson mentioned Uncle Ollie and
family. I don't know why they didn't have a recurring
appearance on the show sort of like Ernest "T" because
Uncle Ollie Aunt Nora & Family just seem like they
naturally belong in Mayberry. Any other thoughts on
this?

new favorite one-liner. Although "BREAD!", "MEAT!", and "TATERS!" will always
stay close to the top, my new favorite one-liner is now--
"I didnt just walk in here wearing a tuxeder, you know"

Hi,
My favorite one liner is of course "Now if they's giraffes!"
however lately in my mind I keep hearing, "she's a very pretty girl!"
"do you tell a bird to go chirp, chirp!" another favorite.
Whoever came up with the one liner idea, it's a outstandin' one!
God Bless

This is for Doug Johnson: I hate to say anything about any of the tags shows,
because i love most all of them, and i will watch the reruns, rerun for ever
if they stay on that long.... but there is one that i don't favor to
much...its the one with Jim Lindsey in it, i don't know why but to me he
seems to be a little show..offie. no offense to anyone thats just me i guess.
But i watch it anyway because i love the rest of the show. 'Time for me to

Yesterday, I received the latest issue of Country Discoveries magazine. I
was looking through it today, and what should I find? An article about Mt.
Airy! I tried to find it online, but they currently don't have this
particular article on their website ( www.countrydiscoveries.com ). I don't
know if they change the articles between issues or not, so you might want to
check it out once in a while over the next couple of months to see if it
gets put online. The article mentions getting your hair cut by Russel Hiatt
and having a porkchop sandwich for lunch, and has pictures of the Snappy
Lunch, in the barber shop and of a squad car outside the Old Mayberry Jail.
It's a neat article, so you might try looking for the magazine at your local
library!

Two of my favorite one liners are in Barneys first car. The first is when
they are all taking a ride in the car. Both lines are from Gomer. The first
is when Gomer is asked how he is feeling. "Sick as a dog but having the time
of my life" The second is after Wally has determined what Barneys car needs
in repairs. Gomer lists all the things it needs including radiator hose
coupling. "And I gave her a wash to" This episode really cracks me up.

Norman Vincent Peale once said, "Let a series of happy thoughts run through
your mind. They will show on your face." That's exactley what happened when
I read the Digest tonight. I love the one liners lots of happy thoughts.
Even though like many others I can't pick just one. I laughed outloud at the
line, "Ain't you got a jack?" and chocked up at Opie's line, "...he's one of
my own." In a world where it's rush, rush, rush, isn't it nice there's a
little Mayberry to put some joy in our day and remind us, "What's your
Hurray."
Speaking of joy in my day, I am the community news editor at the newspaper
in St. Marys,Ohio and was having a really stressful day when in walked a,
"Stranger in Town," with a story idea. He saw the Barney Fife stuff on my
desk and the next thing you know we were talking Mayberry. It seems he's a
member of the Bexley West, Va. TAGSRWC. He even stumped me on two trivia
questions. So to Hal, I'll just say, ""You beat everything, you know that"
Sorry this post is so long. I hope you all have a Mayberry Day! Skippy!
