No doubt about Mr. McBeevee working for the telephone company. There are 3
clues in the scene that explains why Mr. McBeevee isn't up in the trees when
Opie takes Andy out there to meet him.
First, McBeevee is up on a telephone pole. Second, he is using one of those
clip phones to clip onto the line, something I've seen linemen to a thousand
times. He calls about having to go pick up somebody or something. Third,
he drives off in a telephone truck.
Now back in the 60s before the breakup of the phone companies, you could
spot a telephone truck a mile away. They all had that same basic look and
equipment. In 1963, if you had asked me what McBeevee was driving, I would
have told you he was driving a telephone truck and you would have known
exactly what I was talking about.

In the episode about the cow thief, did anyone notice that Barney, stickler
for the law he is, parks on the wrong side of the street when he comes to
Andy's house in the epilogue? Where was Gomer when we needed him (Citizen's
Arrest, Citizen's Arrest)? As Barney said, "This baby is a real emergency
vehicle."
I appreciate finding out the "pedigree" of the man who played Tate
Fletcher/Parnell Rigsby.
Best of luck to you and yours.

Wow! You hit my hot button with this one! They need some of us to help with
the editing! My biggest complaint about scene-cutting is in the episode
where they're trying to get Rafe Hollister to take his tetnus shot. Andy and
County Nurse Mary go out to Rafe's and Andy shows him some of Mary's medical
tools. My favorite (which they cut) is the thermometer bit--Andy shows it to
him, Rafe says he has one on the hen house, doesn't need it because he knows
when he's hot. Andy says this will tell him HOW hot, and Rafe says "I know
how hot I am when I'm hot--DANG HOT! But sooner or later you're bound to get
cold again." My family uses this quote all the time! The episode just isn't
the same without it.

" At the very end of the street is
this looming 3-story building that looks sort of like a warehouse. "
Dan, I've noticed this also. I'm not sure of the exact location but at one
time the train station set from "Gone With the Wind" was still standing on
the backlot. Also in some shots in the Taylor driveway looking from the
street towards the back yard, you can see the roof of one of the Desilu
soundstages (not the one used for TAGS) which was across Lucerne Ave from
the backlot. You can see this building quite clearly just over the
courthouse in "The Darlings are Coming" when they first arrive in the truck
and Andy arrives to meet them. And speaking of this scene, has anyone
noticed that when Andy first appears from around the back of the truck to
walk towards the camera you can see a microphone cable that has been wired
up his right pants leg?

I'd say that makes you a trained noticer! That is the only reference to
Thelma Lou's family, unless you count "Return to Mayberry" when she bought a

The episode where Goober assembles Gillie Walker's car in the courthouse has
at least two triples: "Pucka, pucka, pucka" and of course "Speed, speed,
speed, that's all he ever thinks about".
I also did think of another instance where a reference is made to an event
or conversation in a previous episode. It was when Andy was trying to let
Barney down gently while informing him that he was being replaced by Gomer
in the choir. He referred to Barney's "During our lifetime, we travel many
roads,..." speech.

Subject: dirt streets (Andy's is DIRT)
I read last year or so ago that someone, ALSO, noticed dirt streets in color
episodes. (I first noticed the dirt blowing in front of Andy's house in a
color episode.)
Now that the black and whites are on again (yea!) I have
noticed the dirt on the street in front of Andy's house blowing around when
a car drives by. Did that whole residential area of the forty acres have dirt
streets? My husband wants to know. Thanks.

Mike, I have personally purchased 17 of the Columbia House TAGS tapes, and I
can tell you that, YES they do have the epilogues. Besides that, the
quality of the picture on them is EXCELLENT. Well worth the price you pay
for them, which is a bit pricey, but like I say, to me, it's WELL worth the
price.

I ain't here to stir up trouble or be a
pestilence (...and a pestilence will find you),
but I was watching the "Gold Truck" episode, when
Gomer was filling up the gun port with gas, I noticed that
the Gold truck had pentagrams under the eagle picture.
I ain't accusing no one of nothing, or making a big moulage
out of it, it's just something I noticed.

I have Dish Network satellite and I have subscribed to station KTLA out
of Los Angeles because they show one episode of TAGS every morning at 7
am Central time. They cut more out of each episode than TV Land does,
but they show some of the scenes that TV Land doesn't show. I have the
TV Land version of all 249 episodes on tape, so I am not taping the ones
KTLA shows, but I sure do enjoy watching scenes that I have never seen
before. Someday, I am going to start a subscription to the Columbia
House tapes. I here they are goooood
tapes.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I
agree that Joanna Moore was the prettiest of the ladies Andy dated. She
is my favorite. I wish they had kept her on the show. I like Aneta
Corsaut and Elinor Donahue also, but Joanna Moore is by far my favorit!
e. What a lovely singing voice she
had!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Someone
asked for a list of the women Andy dated. Here are the ones I remember:
Ellie Walker, Mary, county nurse # 1 (not sure that they actually dated,
but Andy was interested in her), Mary Simpson, Peggy McMillen, Helen

Daphne (unintentionally), Lydia Crosswaithe (arranged by

Tonight I listened on the radio a little to the baseball game between the
Delmarva Shorebirds and the Kannapolis Intimidators. The Delmarva Shorebirds
are the Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, which Howard Sprague
makes reference to in the TAGS episode 'Big Brother.' The game was played at
the Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis, North Carolina, where the
September 1997 'Memories of Mayberry' was supposed to be held. It was rained
out there and moved to nearby A.L. Brown High School. On August 4, Rodney
Dillard will appear at the Hickory Crawdads game. Their opponents are the
Delmarva Shorebirds.
Hit one for the ol' Goober!
