Lynchburg tennessee is a dry county, however this is also where the Jack
Daniel's Distillery is located.
They have a permit to operate a distillery. So, I go along with the permit
idea.

>>So my question was-- On TAGS there were 2 females that were<<
>>mentioned a number of times throughout the series but<<
>>never appeared on camera, who were they?---<<

Is the answer Juanita (from the diner) and Sarah (telephone operator)?

>>>But not to worry...I had to fall back on a non-TAGS question to win the
dinner. (Who was the only Vice President to be born in the nation's
capitol?)

The answer is NOBODY. The capitol is a building in Washington, DC where the
United States Congress meets. As far as I know, no babies have ever been
born in this building.

If what you meant to ask was which U.S. Vice President was born in the
nation's capital, then my answer is Al Gore.

With all the references to the TAGS episode 'The Bazaar' recently on the
digest, I thought it would be appropriate to share some things about it. 'The
Bazaar' was a turning point of sorts for TAGS in its history. It was the
third episode made in color at the beginning of that sixth season. Sheldon
Leonard was the director for reasons unknown to me.
We see some of the character actors who've appeared previously in the early
seasons of TAGS like Amzie Strickland, Mary Lansing, and Sam Edwards. A young
Pamelyn Ferdin plays the crying Corliss. She later appeared in 'The Reluctant
Astronaut' with Don Knotts and uttered the line "I have to go to the
bathroom" after the amusement park simulated rocket ride.
Of course, it introduced the short-lived Warren character.

"Never, ever mess with the Ladies Auxiliary."

If you're still looking for front porch scenes, one of my favorites in when
Opie is training for the 50-yard dash. Remember Barney's leg exercises
(Git up Git up Andy, Your breakin' my legs)..though I know we're thinkin
mostly about the serene peaceful moments..usually with a guest present.

..and Songs at the Courthouse, with harmony...Was there any harmony is
Otis's song."Bar-Ney's in Jail, Bar-Ney's in Jail" (tin cups don't make
harmony??)

That "dry county" thing is always confusing, but I believe it had to do with
the sales of Liquor. That's why it was OK to make moonshine for one's self,
but not to sell it.

Nice Webpage Allan, that you did for David Browning. Very Cool! Barney's
mother would be proud.

Glad we got our Gilley's straight. The Becker's and Beasley's are the ones
that always get me confused.

Hey it's great to hear from Laura Lee Hobbs. I sent a bowl of Chicken Soup
when I heard you wuz ailin', but I think the mailman ate in. You are a bird
in this world, dear lady.

Sara and Juanita, but I don't know the Vice Prez. Enjoy that steak dinner
my friend, but don't forget to leave a tip for Olive, bless her heart. (oh
she was never seen either)

Did you see Mr. Schwamp the other night on Tvland in the episode where Otis
makes the mosaic??
He was right there in the audience with that goofy hair. Who is (the actor)
Mr. Schwamp??

I'm leavin' For a mature Human Bein', you're a sight!

Just saw John Masters (Hotel Clerk and Choir Leader) in a very small bit part
on an episode
of Perry Mason yesterday. He was only on screen for a few seconds as an
assistant to some
judge. But it was long enough to tell it was him.

In the letter about the red headed stranger, someone
asked if he was
Clint Howard. The answer is no. Clint Howard played
the role of little
Leon who was about 3 or 4 then.

I'd still like to know who the mysterious red-head
was. Barney rubbed his hair as the red-head stood with
his back to the camera.

I think the answers to the first question are Sarah and Juanita. The answer to
the second question is... ummmm... well..... Calvin Coolidge!!! (just kidding
- I don't know the answer to the second one.) Guess I need some B. Fife history
lessons!! :)
